Just wanted to share with you guys my newest foray into the art-scale scene. Again I am using the Doghouse terminator method which I really enjoy and think fits the way I picture space marines looking. This guy is a Legio Custodes, I've been toying with the idea of doing an entire army of these guys using the not-yet-released GK Codex. If I do end up making an entire army off these guys I may or may not art-scale all of them. Some fluff surrounding the Custodes is that some of them are substancially bigger then a regular marine but that others are only a little bigger. Therefore I think it wouldn't be unreasonable to maybe mix and match art-scale and regular scale, but I don't know this is all just snow falling so far. C&C welcome please tell me if I'm going in the right direction or what you think. Also, For his other arm I have the storm shield from =][= Rex from FW and have been wanting to use that, but my question to people is does it look too Inquisitor with it's shape basically being the =][= logo? I would suggest a rather smooth and curved blade (e.g. eldar or SM psi-weapon) than the chaos-blade. IMHO a custodes should look noble and not like a butcher. Looks great, but how would you expect to do the next few models? This one would probably overshadow them, since he has the ornate armor and all... Great model though. I was thinking the blade on the combi-bolter might be a little too jagged as well, when I mix up some grey stuff maybe I'll try to just fill in the serrations to make it look smooth. As far as how will I make the other models, well he will be the HQ or at least something special, but I have a couple ideas unfortunately none of them include biggerizing all the models. I think I've come up with a great idea to make regular GW sized custodes, but I am not sure how to proceed if I want to make them all art-scale. The only outside Idea I have currently rests on the rumored Grey Knight Terminators in plastic. If the look like the current metal ones but a little bulkier they will make awesome art-scale bases for more Custodes I hope. Maybe instead of blinging up his shoulderpad, give him some personal heraldry? Like the marksman honor and such. Of course, Custodes are different. He looks good as a whole though. Silber Posted December 27, 2010 Share Posted December 27, 2010 If you're going as far as hacking up Forgeworld minis I think it isn't asked too much to at least remove the Chaos Icononography from the Chaos Kombibolter, is it? Seriously, now. And I think you could do better then that Stormshield, too. It looks great, but it doesn't look the custodes part I think. Although that's just a minor issue. Shortsonfire79: Thanks once I stuck the shield on I really like the look, still not sure though, but am probably gonna be doing some more gluing tonight so I better just make a decision ^_^ Guyver3x: I have found those heads and he also makes pretty sweet eagle storm shields as well, but not sure if thats the direction I want to take it, thanks for the link. Silber: by 'chaos iconography' do you mean the arrows or the face? I like the face it reminds me of some off the freaky stuff on the Emperor's armour in the awesome Adrian Smith artwork, and I have never thought of the arrows as being 'chaos' but maybe I'm wrong. I agree on the face anyway, actually struck me as a neat detail because it recalls the Adrian Smith stuff so well... but I could not remember any arrows. Very well, I concede. You live and learn.... (Though you could, to prevent unnecessary confusion in less informed observers, remodel those arrows as lightnings. They're somewhat more iconic of Custodes than arrows, too. Kind of like the look of the capes in the flick 3oo. bright red but worn and battle dirtyed Shortsonfire: Yeah I will be adding something similiar to those hangy things coming down off the shoulders, but I'm going to skip the weird leg plates that hang down. Silber: I want to add lighting bolt as well I just haven't been able to find any 'bits' so I may have to try and make some, we'll see. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them.
