Really need to clean these guys up since I'm having trouble with my Dwarf Bronze and Mechrite Red. My poor phone camera hides a lot of it though.

I'm not really sure how I want to do these backpacks. Don't have any sort of reference since the box shows them with regular marine packs. which is funny considering the assembly illustration on the back uses the backs included.

As I mentioned in my Night Lords thread, I'm pretty sure my skull champion tops my Icon Bearer.

Attaching the head was easier than I expected. Turns out the hair over the shoulders was fairly flexible. Debating if I'll toss a Khorne icon or a Chaos star on the face or not. I'll have to play around with that idea in Photoshop to see how it looks, since I probably won't be able to simply paint over it if I don't like it.

Fun Side note: I didn't remember this until about part way through, but Ilya's servant in Fate/Stay night was Berserker.

I'll post up the next batch in stages to see if I can illustrate what I mean about my paints. They just don't seem to be going on well.

I found this image and had a couple of keychains laying around. I don't even remember how I got them.

I just think the contrast is kinda funny (Grimdark power armor with a doe-eyed chibi head), and most players get a laugh out of it. I mean she's so damn happy to Kill, Maim, and Burn! I also hate painting backpacks, and most of these heads won't let me attach one. I got two more heads left but I don't like the look of one of them, and I don't think I can use the other one.

Slowly getting the blurry camera worked out. Its a very trial and error process. Well here are my first 4 towards the LPC.

Assemble

Boltgun Metal and Sanding the Base

Not happy with how some of the poses turned out, but I got 15 more of these to practice with still. I like how the black gloves look though. Still not sure how I want to do the backpacks so I'm simply going to do them separate when I figure out how I want them to look. Need to try and get 8 of these done tomorrow (or at least assembled) so I can play with them. I got regular marines if I need to a few for count-as, but I'm not sure if I'm going to need my regular marines also.

When I was checking the Games-workshop pic to get some posing ideas I found it funny that there was one using both a bolt-pistol and plasma-pistol at the same time. Looks cool, but too bad you can't do it

While working on my second squad I realized that the Skull Champion of the first squad was missing her Powerfist. This is mostly since I made her before I did up a World Eater list. Fortunetly I made her using cheap glue.

http://i52.tinypic.com/2ikz1xk.jpg

Broke both arms off thinking that the Marine Champion powerfist was a right hand weapon. The leg broke off by accident.

http://i53.tinypic.com/m81err.jpg

Did up a quick powerfist

http://i56.tinypic.com/2vs0nsx.jpg

Oddly enough the hardest part of getting it attached was trying to get the bangs over to the other side. They also cover up the less then amazing attachment since I had very little room to work with. After I got it attached I touched up the areas that you could still see. Still a few places that need to be touched up, but I need to get the second squad assembled first.

Getting my hands on a better camera tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get some less blurry pictures to show off.

While sifting through parts for my second squad I came across a berzerker a friend gave me.

http://i54.tinypic.com/rr61qw.jpg

I could just attach a CC weapon to him, paint him, and call it a day, but I have other plans for him. His name shall be Skaldir (thank you 40k name generator). Skaldir here has clearly seen better says, but so far he gets to be the first marine I bother giving a back story too. I'm not too engrossed in 40k fluff so bare with any glaring errors.

Skaldir was originally an Icon Bearer in a regular war band. During a raid the war band was surprised to be confronted by a small squad of space marines. The group was not prepared for this and was being quickly cut down. One marine managed to remove Skaldir's arm, and in response he called for the aid of the god on his icon, Khorne. Skaldir in a mad fury then proceeded to beat the marine to death with his own severed arm, and rallied his allies against the marines. The marines were easily slaughtered by the now mad war band. Skaldir would latter decorate his Icon in the skulls of those who took his arm, and gave him a new purpose. Skaldir then searched for a doctor who could give him the berzerker treatment. Seeing the battered arm Skaldir carried he told him it would be useless to reattach it. Skaldir cared little and told the doctor he had other plans.

If it looks cheesy, that was half the point. Mostly used extra stuff from my Marine srpue. The pole for the staff is just a piece of the sprue frame that I widdled down till it looked right. Back pack would have benefited from the aid of a hobby drill, but it turned out alright. I need to get of some green stuff to clean it up, and find a way to incorporate a bolter on to him. I don't want to simply glue a one onto the sword, and all the holsters I have are for the wrong hand.

Finally got my hands on a better camera so here are some not blurry pictures of what I have done

Squad 1

http://i51.tinypic.com/2rpw6xk.jpg

Squad 2

http://i55.tinypic.com/2v1nuxw.jpg

Since I'd be reusing the skull head I wanted to try something to differentiate which one is the Skull champ. Power fist is the most obvious way, but I wanted to see how a white skull would look. Probably doing to end up repainting it red.

Some close up shots

http://i52.tinypic.com/2weaxrb.jpg

Ilya was a test to see if a base coat of black made any differences on the end results. I found the bronze looked better with a coat of black under it, and mistakes are less noticeable with a base coat of black.

http://i52.tinypic.com/eposia.jpg

After I get the backpacks done on all them I need to sit down and touch up a few places. Mostly areas I missed, or got covered by latter covers. I also need to pay more attention when doing the bases. Mostly to keep the glue from covering the feet too much.

http://i51.tinypic.com/290u04x.jpg

If I didn't give the fist to another guy, this would have been my skull champ for the second squad. I normally hate trying to pose with this sword, but I got an idea to try to pose a unit doing a war cry. This was also my first attempt at using green stuff and its fairly noticeable. Still I love the whole "come get some" results.

I've also made some progress on Skaldir

http://i52.tinypic.com/2myafll.jpg

http://i55.tinypic.com/15484df.jpg

As stated before, cheesiness is half the charm. I also realized later that my Possessed sprue has an arm exactly like what I wanted. The back is an attempt at making a skull. The teeth are designed to be a vent. I etched in the Khorne icon after realizing that the upper area was very empty.

I'm debating what to tackle next. It's either to start getting my tanks painted, or get the backpacks done for the 'zerkers.

Well I got my first squad done towards my LPC. These zerks were the ones from my battleforce so they only got the standard backpack. Still figuring out how I want to paint the other 4 I have left.

http://i55.tinypic.com/bja42x.jpg

Also I switched the skull champ back to a red skull. The powerfist makes him easy enough to single out.

http://i56.tinypic.com/2qlzxvn.jpg

While brainstorming how to paint the remaining backpacks I decided to assemble the Skull champ for my third squad.

http://i54.tinypic.com/2v84bhy.jpg

Wish I would have saved one of the aspiring champion Khorne shoulders for him. I believe its a Blood angel powerfist, and I like how I was able to do a pose other than "Follow me" or "Charge" with it. Tried to get him mid-haymaker. The back pack and torso are from a possessed marine. I'm never going to field them so may as well scavenge them for bits. I like how the skeleton armor look turned out, but I'm still roughing out how I'll paint it.

Few things I need to try and pick up this week. Green paint so I can finally do the eyes, and to try and get some imperial bits so that I can add more body parts to their bases. Some comments and criticism would be nice.

Took a break from doing grunts to attempt one of my Rhinos. Figured I should finally get around to painting the first thing I deploy.

The codex says I can fit two weapons on this. A few minutes with my swiss army knife, and I could indeed fit two weapons on this.

I may have gone a little over board with trophy racks. I also need to get my hands on more paint to finish detailing it.

Been messing around with washes on my two squads. Need to find new batteries for the camera to show off the results. Did get a picture of my half finished Khârn.

http://i55.tinypic.com/2aj8i9e.jpg

Still need to figure out what colors I need to get the arm the way I want, and how to get the blue hair right. Hoping he has enough paint on him to at least make his saves now.

Still need to get batteries for the camera but managed to snap a quick pic of my finished Khârn before it died completely.

http://i51.tinypic.com/nlts8l.jpg

Been using the GW Khârn image as rough idea of how to paint it. Tried Ice and Enchanted Blue for the hair. Ice matched better, but I found Enchanted looked better since my Khârn has a darker paint job. Used Elf FLesh for the arm and a wash of Babad Black. The wash was much more forgiving on the arm then the guardsmen face on Ilya's Base. It also helps when I pay attention to where it is pooling. Decided to make an attempt at the manly tank busting vein, and it turned out pretty well I think. I also did the studs on the axe, and added more sand to the base. I need to add some body parts to the base once I sort through some bits after painting all my units, but he's essentially finished. I'm hoping he can make his invul save on instant death now that he has his manly blue mustache.

edit-If anyone has some good suggestions for doing blood and gore for my berserkers, I'd love to hear them.

Camera kept trying to focus on the lord I had drying in the background. I also got the entire first squad painted and washed, but I'll wait until later to get pictures of them.

Still putting off the rest of my LPC, but got around to painting the first unit I actually put together.

He used to have a regular Lord head, but somebody gave this one. I named him Lurch, and about half way through painting I realized that I'd probably never field him with Lightning Claws. Then again Bloodfeeder (or whatever it is called) gets an extra d6 so two claws is fitting. Still need to find a good way to gore these guys up.

Picked up a few more berzerkers to finish off the LPC, and hoping to finally get around to painting them this weekend. Haven't had much free time to really sit down and paint, just time to glue units back together. Butter fingers and cheap glue does not mix well. Used what bits I had left to put together a pair of Zerkers with Plasma pistols. I was against plasma for awhile, but its been growing on me. It's also nice to have two guys to easily pick out in the squad when I do field it.

http://i54.tinypic.com/t0rt55.jpg

Had to use a regular CSM arm for one of them which was unfortunate. The executioner gloves always look so awesome. Also went with the Plasma pistols from the berzerker sprue over the CSM sprue. They just looked more likely to blow up in your face.

Probably a good idea for me to prove that I got my LPC done before I get completely distracted by something new.

Khârn

http://i55.tinypic.com/k55qav.jpg

Squad 1 (Zerks 1-4)

http://i51.tinypic.com/2d9zhoz.jpg

Squad 2 (Zerks 5-12)

http://i54.tinypic.com/nxlu2d.jpg

Squad 3 (Zerks 13-20)

http://i53.tinypic.com/ohti8k.jpg

Only needed 19 Zerks, but ended up making enough to have 3 full squads. Tried some Blood Red out on one of them, and didn't really care for the results. Third squad would be based, but my glue is currently missing.
