++Librarium Painting Challenge 2011++

Recommended Posts

Okay, there's the normal amnesty of 5 days for pictures to come in since not everyone has access to the internet. After this period, I'll be revealing the final tally for the Subforum Challenge and drawing the prizes...

So when do we get our spiffy new signatures? I already saw one or two floating around...
@Sigismund Himself: Out of curiousity, will there be new 'Vow Complete' and 'Vow Failed' banners, or will we be using the old ones?

Ask and ye shall receive...

Vow Successful signature for this year:

And the traditional Vow Failed signature...

Wear them with pride!

I joined this year's LPC mostly because Sigismund Himself had absoloutely no shame about embarrassing me into participating through belittling of my abilities to actually complete a) a project of any sort at all and b ) do so at anything faster than the pace of your average glacier. Below is the vow I committed myself to:

So, take that Sig! Ha! ;)

I never doubted you :) Congrats mate.

From left to right: Chief Librarian Filinus, Epistolary Var'kres, Lexicanium Erz'inth, Epistolary Helcate, Codicier Sis'mund, Codicier Ferman, Codicier Vah'shi, Codicier Mattias, and Epistolary Davidus. (kudos if you can guess which ones are named after my fellow Librarium staff). I didn't do them quite to full quality, since I'm gonna go back and re-convert half of them with the new Grey Knights stuff once that comes out this weekend. But oh, well.

Very nice Allerka!

Wife gave me the Look of Doom when I told her I wasn't going to bed because I was painting my Chaplain. :P

A brave man indeed sir ;)

++Edit++ My PM inbox is full (as normal...). I'll endeavour to clear it out so just wait a few days if you want to PM me :)

Holy crap you mean I still have time to post up a picture? I haven't been at home to post it for a couple of days and I forgot to do it before I left!

I have been away for a few day, got a 'surprise' little holiday from my girlfriend last week for my birthday. Anyways, it is my own fault that I did not upload any pics before, though I had completed them. However, I am in the progress of repainting the black armor on those BT mini's, as I have a new formula.

So I just want to say I ain't gonna even upload pictures (as I saw some posts today still updating the LPC threads), as by the rules I failed it.

When does the article needs to be done? :D

Having never had a picture signature thing before can someone tell me how to add it please? Do I need to copy the image address in or what?

I failed but I should be honest about it and wear the sig!!

Cheers in advance!

Do we give ourselves the "Vow Complete" signature or does Sigismund Himself give it to us?

You have to. He won't have access to do it, and not everyone wants to use the image.

I personally have to decide between by Duel to the Death victory and getting the Vow Complete image.

I have to admit it has been a great ride and will continue to be so, but last week, three days before the deadline I came to the conclusion that I will not be able to complete the LPC vow in time. It was slightly disappointing for me but it was a weighed decision to accept reality early and come clean.

The main reason (apart from being able to only spend time on this project during wekends in any meaningful manner) is the decision I made early when I began experimenting with my sculpting. I decided that I would glue the terminators in their final positions so that I could add the GS content, mainly the purity seals and giant feathers in a dynamic fashion reflecting movement and gravity based on their posture. I knew it would make the final painting harder but didn't realise how much harder and slower it would make it.

On Sunday night (27 March), when all three coats of the washes had dried, I considered whether I should simply use four colours, black, white, green and red to provide basic details, paint the bases green and complete the vow at a minimalistic level. I couldn't bring myself to do that given the amount of work I had ut in to these models and the resurgence of passion for the hobby. I just have to continue plodding along carrying the banner of failure... but.. I am not really disappointed... I managed to nearly complete a entire deathwing army and will do so soon.

I achieved a number of firsts:

- First time doing green stuff sculpting

- First GS robe

- First time using washes

- First time in six years to get back to modelling and painting

So although I failed the LPC vow, thanks to Sigismund himself and the B+C LPC 2011, I have in fact won as I am back in the hobby under full staem!!:D

You click My Controls, then Edit Signature to the left. After that, you add an image in the text box as usual, using the link provided in post #576 by Sigismund Himself.

And Allerka, those are indeed some sweet librarians!

Maybe next year I'll have time away from my newly started DE.

Well, thank you.

Stay tuned for better close-ups once I finish their re-conversions and paint jobs. Whenever that'll be.

Thanks. Done. As for having two images, I saw DV8 does. Just insert the LPC image code directly after your Duel to the Death image, like I did to mine.

Well I finished only one squad completely. I personally failed my painting challenge. My goal was to finish all the minis to master class quality. It was really slow going doing that much detail. A poor time for me to start a painting challenge with work and a going back to school. :tu: Oh well. Maybe next year.

I'll post the finished pics here. Sorry for the poor pics.

Good day all.

Congratulations to all who finished the vow. I will wear the signature of failure with pride and strive to finish what I set out to do as quickly as possible.

Well done everyone.

Vow Failed

Currently the Librarium is in hibernation until the board update comes around as the Librarians come to grips with new software and a redevelopment of the Librarium, but any articles can still be written in this time. All you have to do is to PM it to me or another member of the Librarium team :) If you need ideas, grab hold of me or one of our handsome Lexicanii (click here and in the box that has \'All Members\', change it to \'Lexicanium\') or our sole Codicier at the moment, Vash113, they\'ll be happy to help you with ideas. Remember you can\'t participate in next year\'s LPc or get rid of your Vow Failed signature until you handle this!

Winners

I mentioned partipation prizes and so here we go... Every person mentioned below will be receiving one of these very special B&C Poker Cards (I\'ll PM you guys):

gallery_21629_1792_429044.jpg

For the fanciest vow (I couldn\'t separate them:

Khestra the Unbeheld

Plague Angel

For the three biggest completed vows:

Bloodcrusade

Marshall Wulff

DV8

The eight people below completed their vows and were randomly selected:

The Red Worm

Serunox

Marshal Sibrand

Terminatorinhell

BorisBC

Mutters

Tranc

-Max-

There is still three of these cards up for grabs for the first three people who get their article in for failing their vow. Indeed, the first person will be receiving the card featuring my own character for whatever acts of voodoo you wish to perform on it :)

My PM box is now relatively empty so send me a PM if you have a query, concern or I\'ve missed your completed vow.

And that about wraps it up for this year folks :) Thanks for participating, I hope you all enjoyed it and it helped you with your army progress! Until next year, au revoir.

Ok, I'm an idiot - I copy the link into the text box and it just displays as a link... What am I doing wrong? ;)

Put

at the beginning and end of the link, respectively. That means the first one goes at the beginning, the second one at the end.
