LPC 2011: Razorback, Predator and Chronos

Heres the start of my Vow

Ive got 2 ebay tanks.

The first was a Predator that had been dipped in Red paint!

Ive completely stripped it and undercoated it. Ive also repaired some of the hatches with bitz. The gunner is going to be swapped out for a tech marine.

The 2nd is a heavy bolter razorback. This was an unpainted ebay purchase that IVe added Ultra doors and front to. Along with FW extra armour and a FW heavy bolter.

Neither of the two are going to have the insides detailed as it'll be a pain to get to.

Chronos is going to have is standard paint job. All Ive done so far is clean him up and base him

Don't know if you want to go with such a bright color deliberately, or something you ended up with with blood red... I'd suggest adding some weathering, maybe with inks first, maybe with some paint....

Go for a mere gritty and sinister overall feel in the paint job, makes a different kind of red armor marines, than those cartoony, over dressed, spam army pretty boys   :cuss

(Hope you're not doing Blood Angels))))))))))))))

Seeing your example, I'm about to sign up to the LIBER ASTARTES, and pledge my vow on the Honor of my legion.

Keep it up!

I think the red looks good, tough it could use a wash to give it some shadows. Also, consider adding some more metal details. It is an easy way to break up that red. The weathering or dusting or whatever it is called is nice also. Hard to see from this angle tough, but it is there

Hahaha! Now this just made my day

Saw the thread when you posted it and actually had the thought "Wonder how many will miss the last comment and think it's actually his paint-job" ;)

Bring on the blue!

What would you guys do with the rivets? If you look at the GW version they are blue and part of the armour but I think gold would look good but would it be too "bling"?

Ah excellent, obey!

Dude that model is turning out very, very nice. The gold is sweet, esp the wings on his chest!

I'd say leave it blue. Or mabe silver/metal?

Gold would pop, but I think it would be way to much bling for an upgrade character. If he'd been a captain/CM then sure, but just a tank serg? No.

Looking forward to more! :D

AAAAAAAhahhahha, man you got me with that red paint job, and the fact that you barely notice those last lines under the pic!!!!!!

By his name< bring on the sons of Guilliman!!!!!

Chronus looks really nice with the blends, how do you manage to keep a smooth blending and prevent the paint from drying too fast?

Don't do golden rivets, Alexander Fogh, just above rationalized it for me, for an upgrade character it's going to be too much, keep him simple.

Thanks Guys

Ive been working on Chronos and now fully assembled him. Ive gone for a darker look on the helmet than the GW version.

Ive still got all the soft joints, highlights etc to do

Ive also just seen the mold line on the butt of the bolt pistol so I'll sort that tonight.

After a short break working on my bionic marine Im back on track with my vow.

Ive just about finished Chronos so I broke out the airbrush and started work on the predator.

I thought Id have a go at zential (sp) shading.

Please bear in mind I didnt put this together it was an ebay reclaimed tank so Ive done the best I can with it.

The first photo is a fair repesentaion of the colour. Ive gone over the hatch with a brush to provide the top level highlights. This is what I'll be doing all over the tank.

Let me know what you think.

This is way darker in the photo for some reason

Thanks for the comments

Dark Scipio I think its just the reflection on the ink that looks almost purple'ish. Its been stripped, sprayed with chaos black, a coat of dark blue and now ultramarine blue. Where I went wrong is I blacklined the joints with a micro pen. This sometimes leaves a shiny effect. Ive now gone over it with a Chaos black/Ultramarine blue mix so its not so shiny.

Ive had a go at some chipping. Im trying to avoid silver as a base colour but I dont know if it stands out enough.

Let me know what you think to the damage.

Heres an update as to where I am with my Vow.

Im cracking on with the predator. Ive now started to apply battle damage and will some be weathering it.

My only question is what colour is the trim on a techmarines pads?

any c&c's welcomed

Ive also started cleaning up my Razorback with a view to undercoating it. The FW additional armour has been a nightmare. Ive had to drill and replace most of the rivits and GS gaps where its shrunk. Hopefully it'll look ok once its undercoated.

Just a quick update on the Vov

As the predators nearly done Ive moved onto the Razorback.

The Forgeworld additional armour was a real pain to work with and Ive done no end of filling, smoothing and replacing rivets but Ive got to say that its a joy to paint.

The detailing is great

I didnt buy the rear doors from FW so I thought Id have a go at making my own.

I painted an aquila (looked too small), I painted the Ultra logo and it looked odd too.

Ive tried to make a plasticard U and give it the distressed look to match the FW armour. This hasnt been painted yet but what do you think?
