Khestra the Unbeheld's LPC 2011 thread

First in-progress pic for the Librarium Painting Challenge. I'd pledged to build and paint 5 Khornate Chaos Terminators by March 31, so what better way to do it than with Forge World's excellent World Eaters Terminator conversion sprues, a fistful of combi-meltas, and chainfists for everyone. The pic quality is kind of skanky, being a webcam, but this is the five built with glue drying. I had to green stuff the "bunny ears" onto one because they broke off in shipping and basically turned to powder, and I opted to eschew the traditional Chaos Terminator horns 'n tusks heads in favor of MaxMini.eu's Steam Knights heads, which with a little trimming fit perfectly into the Terminator slots. Once the glue and green stuff dries, I'll hit them with red primer and get to work on making these guys World Eaters for real.

Better pics, because skanky pic makes me ashamed and the red primer is applied. I used Army Painter Red for these guys, but intend to darken them slightly before I start doing detail work, highlights, shading, etc. I don't think World Eaters are candy apple red anyway. ^_^

Love the way you painted them. The helmets themselves don't look Khorne-y but the paint job makes up for it

Yeah, I'm thinking I might do a little work on the helmets to make them a tad more savage-like. I wish FW had given us some serious World Eater helmets in the same fashion as Zhufor's for their conversion kit, but I think some freehand work might correct the issue. I also need to base these guys with something appropriate at some stage in this. :)

Some better pics of each of them. The group one was okay but I think individual ones are worthwhile. :)

That is in the works, I just have to settle on a unified basing theme. I'm torn between going with an ash wasteland sort of gray sand, or perhaps a desert theme. Basing is not my forte by any stretch so I'm always indecisive about it. :(

If you want to keep the red bases, I think an ash wasteland would be the way to go. Some darkish gray sand, as you mentioned, and some added bigger rocks should work out fine.

Well, the bases are only red by virtue of the primer I used, not because I had any grand plan to have World Eaters Termies on red bases, so it's literally open season on basing. :) I'm kind of wishing I'd fronted the dough for five of these now: http://www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product...ail&p=49916
