EtriX Dark Angels Paint Logg

EtriX

Recommended Posts

I got the Assault on Black Reach pack by my amazing girlfriend, got it for the Terminators and the Dreadnought, so here is a paint logg that starts with them and move on to my regular marines.

(Bear with me, if I'm rambling)

Starting out unpainted.

So I've base painted for the bone and scrolls and done the first layer of highlights.

(Sorry for the bad picture quality, getting used to my girlfriends camera).

Next up is touch ups and 1:1 DA and Snot Green.

I'm adding a few pictures of my first Veteran, this was done a few days ago.

So here is one I've prepared earlier.

A little taste of things to come.

Ok, here is todays dreadnought update.

so mainly I've done some highlight touchups, added some boltgun to the metal parts and added both battle wear and bleached bone.

I've learned a whole lot so far, mainly that dreadnoughts are a pain sometimes if they are fully molded and that they are really fun to paint.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, it's been a few days since my last update but I've almost finished the multi-melta. Here are some pics of that.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y219/blindrim/warhammer/blackreach-21.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y219/blindrim/warhammer/blackreach-22.jpg

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y219/blindrim/warhammer/blackreach-23.jpg

But as a added bonus, I've created a whole new sort of character.

What I did was this. I got a Black Templar Sword Brethren from a friend and decided that I wanted it for my Dark Angels.

But since I already have a company master (I'm using the captain from black reach for that), I wanted to use it for something different.

Enter the Watchers, my own corps within the inner circle, they watch the troops for signs of traitors and heretics.

My Dark Angels are so paranoid about falling that they constantly watch their own steps.

For all un-initiated they simply provide experience and a counselor to the company master.

So here he is right now.

I didn't like the idea of him having a chainsword so I gave him a powersword instead.

Here is a template of what I wanted it to be.

and here is the current result, I'll add some greenstuff later to anchor the head a bit more.

and here is GWs original, it took quite some work to get all the crosses of his armor.

So... What do ya think so far?

I've updated the Watcher, shortened the arms (looks much better). Thanks for catching it for me.

I also added a Dark Angels crest on his right shoulderpad. I had to form it by holding it over a candle and gently bending it.

Hopefully, I'll get to painting it either tomorrow or the day after that.

The watcher is painted enough to get a feel for how I want it.

Remember, this is my first power sword so I'm still trying to get the feel for lightnings.

Here he is. The Watcher Suriel.

The name Suriel comes from one of the Angels of Death.

next project will probably be termies.

So I've started out with my DW, first of all my AC/PF Termie and I'm trying a different shading technique this time with bestial brown and a thin layer of Bleached Bone, then wash with Gryphonne Sepia and lastly a thin layer bleached, leaving the creases to get a bit more natural shade.

I think I like this way of shading a bit more than the others. It seems a bit more natural and flowing.
