Quickshaded Grey Knights (not new plastic ones)

Cadaveri

Recommended Posts

Just found couple of these lying around and decided to give them a try with quickshade, tbh i think they came alright for the quick effort =)

Edit: One more thing to add.. i used the dark tone from AP and i actually used 2 coats instead of 1 (i think 1 coat wasn't dark enough!)

They were primed with Army Painter Platemail

red = blood red (or well the coat'd'arms red equilevant)

Gold = Shining Gold GW

Cloth = Dheneb Stone GW

Skulls = Ivory Vallejo Model

Powerswords were just simply done with Asurmen Blue washes few times over

Bases were done using:

Beastial Brown -> Bubonic Brown -> Bleached Bone & then few Jungle tufts from Army Painter

If you have any more questions hit me with a PM or ask here :)

Anyhow here's the pictures(watch out for unfinished Xenos on few pics ^^):

...You gotta be kidding me.

I'm envious, I don't even want to know how much time you're probably saving. The results look awesome.

Ye, doing this the "normal" way would propably take atleast 5 times longer. Gotta love quickshade ;)

Two coats of Dark Quickshade works well on the platemail base. The GK look good. Great bases :D

BTW, watch out for posting xeno pics here on the B&C as strictly speaking it should be deleted and blasted into the Warp :D .

How did you apply the two coats of quickshade?

Brush on or dip?

Did you have to clean the brush with mineral spirits, if you used a brush?

I used Citadel Wash brush for applying the quickshade, after the first layer i cleaned my brush with turpentine(and water). When dry(~12-24 hours depending) i applied the 2nd coat.

After the 2nd coat was dry then i applied Vallejo matte varnish with a brush.

Hope this helped! ;)

It's a product offered by The Army Painter.

Here is a link to their store. Click on the binoculars below the products to see some before/after shots. It's basically a dip, similar to a wood stain. Actually, it is wood stain, but blended with mineral spirits or other thinner to get "the right" mix. I have used it in the past, and it did a reasonable job on my ghouls for D&D.

The application on the Grey Knights in this thread is amazing, though.
