While I'm a bit new to the modeling world here's hoping I can get a few pointers on my models

My first painted model:

I colored him using the viva metallica method to get a metallic green and experimented a bit to try and make a metallic black (not so sure that worked out well though)

Also any ideas on how to make my Boarding Marine look all golden and champion like while still keeping the metallic green and black color scheme?

The easiest way to create a champion scheme would be to maintain the green/black scheme on the appropriate armour segments, but up the gold to the shoulder trim and extra details as well.

Champions tend to get artificer crafted armour, which always feature more precious metals, etc. My two cents.

Here's the work I've done on my Boarding Marine

Side:

Back:

Any suggestions on what color I should make the helmet plume on this guy?

My Boarding Marine is now done

I ended up going with a black plume on this sucker

the shield was a pain in the ass to paint not because it was hard but because the paint didn't seem to want to stick to in very well

Now to finish up the rest of the company

That's the Forgeworld model isn't it? If so it might still have the release agent on the surface of the resin which will stop paint from sticking to it. I found this out the hard way, too :tu: Just make sure you wash the parts thoroughly before painting.

Yeah it was and I don't think I washed the shield like I did the model itself so that's probably what the issue was

anyhow, I jut got done prepping my Tac and Assault squads for painting

Nice dynamic poses and a good colour scheme to work with. Have you chosen a symbol for them?

One of the tactical marines (3 pic down, centre right) looks like his left arm's a little misplaced. It might be the angle of the picture though.

Looking forward to more brother!

I'm planning on making my Chapter symbol a gauntlet clutching a book

Yeah that marine had a misplaced shoulder pad which has since been fixed

Also I give you Assault Sargent Scheidell

and for those of you wondering why his arm and shield are Red and Green is I'm planning on making heraldry shields for all my marines and painting their left arms the colors of their heraldry

Intersting concept with the heraldry, looks like you've set yourself a challenge in freehanding with regards to the symbol and shield heraldry. I look forward to seeing how you do it Nafi. <_< Glad to hear the marine's arm/shoulder's been fixed too.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's been awhile since my last post and I figured I should at least post an update:

I recently won a Space Marine lot which provided me with quite a lot of marines(albeit need some work) and four more dreadnoughts:

http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/8577/1001817q.jpg

I finished painting up my first tac squad and extra sargent (note: they still have black arms cause I've yet to look up heraldry's for them):

Some marines I'll be converting into a Sternguard squad:

And then there's this dude(who an early test for things to come):
