Hi everone During the weekend just there, me & a few of my friends where attending the Throne of Skulls down in Warhammer World in Nottingham. There we would be successfully decapitating our predessors during a bloody battle which will be long rememebered in legand & in song. So to start of the report from the weekend, here my army list & army background. Those that once knew peace now knew only war. With their homes destroyed by the foes of the Imperial, hope faded & the population were led into the shadow of despair. Asgard VII Prime was left defenceless. But there was salvation, a light in these darkest times. They arrived from the sky, those warriors of the mighty Space Wolves, warriors who can set fear into the very heart of evil. We fought, we fought for our dead, we fought for the very earth we stood upon, we spilt their blood, and we fought for the Imperial, for Russ & the All Father. We may be few & our enemies many, yet so long as there remains one of us still fighting, one who still rages in the name of justice & truth, then by the All Father, Asgard VII Prime shall yet know hope. Saga of Asgard VII Prime by Dreadnought, Rothgar the Wolf Guard & Skald of the 5th Great Company. The planet, Asgard VII Prime has held many secrets, even during the time of the Great Crusade when Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves first set foot on it, Nevertheless like so many things since those times, they have been forgotten, lost in the mist of history & legends over the millennium. However it is such legends that will keep people searching & hunting for the mysteries Asgard VII Prime holds, until out of nowhere the shadow of despair takes over these dark times. When Asgard VII Prime was attacked by all the foes of the Imperial it was the Space Wolves 5th Great Company that was sent in as the only hope the planet had to survive. Leonidas Buliwyf, Wolf Lord of the 5th Great Company, had sent a small strike force, the Gate of Morkai Strike Force led by Rune Priest Dilios Gunnar to investigate what threat the planet Asgard VII Prime was faced with. They started their campaign on Asgard VII Prime to bring the light of hope back to the darkened world. & to find out what mystery or relic was drawing all the enemies of mankind to the planet. The 5th Great Company was an incredibly mobile battle force, able to reach threatened zones swiftly. The array of purity seals, trophies & runes adorning the vehicles, Dreadnoughts & power armour of the Space Marines showed the experience & resolve of the 5th Great Company over many successful campaigns. Meanwhile the Long Fangs, wise in their years, acted as the eyes & ears for the Strike force, able to go off into their pack hunts ahead of the armour strike force. In honour of Morkai, the Wolf who guarded the gate of death, all of the Space Wolves in this strike force have painted their helmet black. For they would rather die to the last, than let this world fall & let whatever its mystery is, fall into the hands of the enemies of mankind. Since arriving upon the soil of Asgard VII Prime, Rune Priest Dilios had noticed that there was a strange energy drawing the foes of the Imperial to the planet. Many races were drawn toward this world all seeking to claim the relic of this planet; from the barbaric Orks who only lust for war, the twisted Dark Eldar always looking for slave & game, Eldar who are untrustworthy, Tyranids who only wanted to consume everything in front them to the corrupted servants of Chaos who sought revenge on those they once served. It seemed there was some form of secret hidden on the planet. There was so much more to the world than the average eye was allowed to see. Some say this secret had been there since the days of the Great Crusade when the mighty Emperor of Mankind walked the earth, a relic that cannot fall into the foe of the Imperial. While others say there is a nameless evil resting in the world of Asgard VII Prime, a terrible being, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. Nothing could stop it or hold it or reason with it. They said that Leman Russ himself had secret runes to bind this great evil being. One day it would just drop out of the sky & tear down your world as legend would say, among many other "legends". One thing is certain; the Space Wolves have allies in this darkest time. Rune Priest Dilios had sent Squad Hrolf to scout ahead of the main force. During their scout mission, squad Hrolf were ambushed, their Rhino transport destroyed & they were badly wounded. When the Space Wolves strike force arrived, Dilios saw that the unit of Grey Hunter were saved by fellow Space Marines. Their armour was as Black as the void; their armour was covered in the flames of Redemption & the bones of Vengeance. Bullets seemed to pass through these mysterious Space Marines. Once the enemies of mankind where slaughtered; the Black Space Marines vanished as though they had never been there in the first place. Rune Priest Dilios had heard many stories. He knew these Space Marines were to be called Legion of the Damned, rumoured to be from the Fire Hawks Chapter, who went missing in the Warp…. I met up with a few of my friends to make our travel to Nottingham. There we would book into our hotels & then go to Warhammer World to get a few practise games & for myself to catch up with many other people I know who would be attending the event. So when I got into Warhammer World, my first practise game would be against DaemonPrinceDargor & his Blood Angels which you can see on the fourm :D Honour's End Army - Blood Angels Army list - Sanguinius (Sanguinor), High Priest Mercato, Librarian Dreadnought Ixius, Assault Terminators Leonis with Land Raider Amortis, Assault squad Amdeus in Land Raider Cruor Telim, Assault squad Varro in Rhino Charon, Tactical Marine squad Scipo Mission - d3+2 Objects, spearhead After book into my hotel, I made my way to Warhammer World, DaemonPrinceDargor was there ready for our practise game that we arrange a few month back. Seeing the Land Raider I knew I would struggle a bit. Dispit those Melta guns in my army, I can't really roll dice & this has been made offical during the weekend. But I would try my best to break open those Land Raider & try get those squads inside. DaemonPrinceDargor has model his really nice Blood Angels force from the pre-heresy era which saw him take the Best army award :D & also the Best Blood Angel player. The army really cool & is a prime exsample on why I like attending tournaments & see people army log, etc.. on the fourm as it all about cool models, getting idea to use my own army or future armies. From the game. I was aim to try & isolate his unit, ready to be pick off bit by bit with my Space Wolves army, try use my Dreadnoughts to take care of the assault Terminators. But it was not to be, the two might Land Raider mange to destroy both Rothgar & Odin as the Emperor guide there fire power to the mark. After word the Blood Angels would show my Space Wolves how hard they are in close combat, show some earily sign of the Black Rage before Sanguinius would met his end on Horus in the future. In the end DPD had slaughter a lot of my own army & held the Objects in the end winning him the game, I learnt a lot from the game & there some new stuff game wise/tactic I want to try out with my Wolves & it why I enjoy useing them or my Iron Warriors due to the way they play. Thinking about this game. It remind me a little bit about Games of Thrones which me & DaemonPrinceDargor are big fans of the TV serise. After our practise game, me DPA & our friends went into bugman bar to get some good. There John Blanche would bump unto me by mistake. After getting some food in Bugman bar, my friend Kenny who travel up had return, him & my friend Iain went out for food, but came back to try get a few more games. I though I ask him for a match as last time we fought was 2007 with his Night Lords & he was talking about his Dark Eldar & just wounder about the Space Wolves. Iron-Daemon Forge Posted October 17, 2011 Author Share Posted October 17, 2011 Pactise game 2 The thieves of the ice mists Kenny Army - Dark Eldar Army list - Sorry Kenny just going by what I rememeber, feel free keep me right - Baron with big unit of Helions, Heamonculus, Wreck, 3x unit True Born in Vemon, 2x Wych in Raider, 2x Ravenger, new jet fighter they get, Beast unit. Mission, One Object each & Dawn of War set up As said there I not fought Kenny since 2007 & I knew Dark Eldar has been his main army much like Space Wolves, Iron Warriors & Black Templars are my own. The game was going back & forward, with my Wolves mange to immobile a few of the tanks before they could get into my lines or Dark Eldar cause a heavy toll on my own army & then both of our armies fighting it out in bitter close combat. In the end the game ended on turn 6 & it was a draw. I think if it went onto a extra turn, turn 7 then Kenny would have won, but I had just mange on turn 6 to draw by the skin of my teeth as his Wych where near my Rhino mounted Grey Hunter unit which had disembark to take care of a Raider. Also GW Security & Bugman bar staff where tell us all the hall was being close for the day since it was late that night. Got to say hotel I went to, been going since 2004 & though had a few issue in the past. This time it was out of order in regard to the heat in the room. Was like walking into a wall of heat which effected me later on during the weekend. Just I get very unwell if it to warm. I got a really low tolerance toward heat & very bright sun. It was time to head over to Warhammer World, before going my friend Scott who was down there give me & viking657 from warseer a lift to Warhammer World. I was really gutted I really wanted to get the Bugman bar breakfast as last time they where brillaint, but due to hotel, I was not feel so great. So I went to find my table No82 only to find it was not there, vanish into the warp. But it was great as the Event team waited until ever settle down, then got those with table that where not there, got them all sorted. I would be battle Steve Simpson & his DIY Marines. Round 1 - the lone wolf dies but the pack survives Oppent - Steve Army - Space Marines Army list - Librarian, Chaplain, Assault Terminators, normal Terminators, Land Raider Redeemer, unit of Scouts, unit of 10 Space Marine, Predator. Mission - One Object each, Dawn of War set up After getting table sorted, it was time for round 1. I was happy when Event team got Dawn of War as it my favrout set up. However my Long Fangs unit with Heavy Bolter shown there saga once more. Pretty much in DoW, they'll walk on, there a bit of good terrain. So I do DT test, I'll get a 3 in this case, no line of sight for the next turn to fire. So I will run......... 1 which did not help me that all. This has happen a lot with this unit & I think I'll be set them up in the open in the near fututre be honsty :D I said it once before, but I can not roll dice & thanks to the weekend I can now offical say this, you'll see later on why. Steve was sending his normal Terminators squad with the Librarian teleported (psychic power) near my line. I belive that unit of Terminators did not fail a single armour/Inv save when I fire into them. So I sent in a unit of Grey Hunter from my Las Razorback with Dreadnought support, take the unit out as Leman Russ would do :D While Steve Assault Terminators would go into my Rhino mounted unit & slaughter all before them, with a Chaplain shounting oath of moments to his fellow battle brother. But Rothgar the Skald would seek venegance against the Marines who would spill Space Wolf blood. In the end the game ended on turn 6. I had held my own object, though I mange to immobile my Heavy Bolter Razorback. While on Steve object I assaulted his unit of Scout, as his Land Raider redeemer was near by & could have made short work of them with those Flame storm?. Also I just wanted to get into close combat, anyone who fought me or saw any of my games in tournaments or in my gaming club or store will know I do not hold back, I do not like to hide. I alway aim to go all out no matter the army. I tool my armies up for combat with fire support. It was time to get ready for Round 2, where I would be battle Eldar, a army I not fought in some time in a tournament, however local that my Gaming club I've only just started battle against them a bit more. Round 2 - The Doom of Mymeara Oppent Dale Tranter Army - Eldar Army list - Seer Council on jet big, 2x unit of Avanger in Serpants, 2x unit of Fire Dragon in Serpants, 3x Jet Bikes, 2x War Walker units Mission - Kill points, Spearhead News from the Front "The litanies of accuracy are being recited hard after Jamie Farquhar's Dreadnought Rothgar the Skald fired his twin-linked Lascannon every turn for 6 turns at Dale Tranter's Eldar army & missed ever time!" It was good battle the Eldar & Dale would be up for army nominee. Was a really nice Eldar army with the way he painted the armour, which you can see on the photos below & just overall look of the army was great. Sadily during round 2, not only was Rothgar the Skald, my might Dreadnought with many saga, fail to hit with his Lascannon. But my voice was going on me, which would later result in me not being able to talk for the rest of the weekend, much to the joy of the event team :D :D For this game, I won roll of for going first & chose to take this up. Just with the way the terrain was & also because spearhead set up alway kick my army in, anyone who saw my ToS Nov report last year will see & why I am greatful the Event team roll for it instead of us. But Dale mange to steal the first turn from me, Leman Russ was not watching over me :D As said there with news from the front. Rothgar my Dreadnought, when ever he fired a Lascannon, he get a 1, twin linked but ended getting a 2........... this happen from turn 1 to 6...!! I have the feeling there some more stuff, if Lee wanting to let me know? Mission - d3+2 Object, Pitch battle News from the Front "More woeful antics from Jamie Farquhar's hapless Dreadnought Rothgar the Skald as he assaulted the crippled & arm-less Dreadnought, Mortalis, from Lee Wootton's Blood Angels army & over 6 round of combat cause no damnge at all!" News from the Front "Poor Jamie Farquhar then suffered further indignity after a display of serious heroics from Sgt Leonideus, a Scout Sergeant from Lee Wootton's Blood Angel army. Leonideus held true on an objective, taking the full brunt of two turns worth of shooting from two Long Fang packs, only to survive it & win Lee the game" As soon as I saw Lee name as my next oppent I knew who I'd be battle right away :D Lee came down from Glasgow & I talk to him a little bit during Throne of Skulls July. Sadily my voice was gone that this point, but I hope this did not cause any issue. Once more, as seen there Rothgar my Dreadnought made a name for himself. Please please Games Workshop release how to roll GW dice you shown on the 1st April in What new today, you have no idea how badly I need that book. It was a great game with both of our armies getting into each other line. I think that the end of it all we had left was Lee Sgt Leonideus who had Black rage, true a future Chapter Master or Mephiston in the works Unit of Assault Marines Dreadnought Mortalis with no arms but still in combat with Rothgar Me Rothgar the Skald Unit of Long Fangs Grey Hunter from Heavy Bolter Razorback Razorback with Heavy Bolter. On that note, my Razorback with Heavy Bolter was half a inch from contest a object as well :D Again was a great game, barely a lot left & none of us hold back anything. I think turn 2 was when the combat all kick off. Iron-Daemon Forge Posted October 17, 2011 Author Share Posted October 17, 2011 After another terrible night that the hotel, belive I only got one hour worth of sleep due to the heat/warm of the room, dispit it being cold out side & windo open, air con on. Was a lot worst on Sunday moring & my voice was complete gone in the moring. However that was me finish, as me & my friends travel back up on the Sunday after the event which is great. Also I dout I could stay another night or I would be really unwell, as I was already suffering from the two night of the warm hotel room. Like I said just preffer the nice cold, cloudy, rain weather <_< I am a true Space Wolf. Also dispit having 1 hour worth of sleep, never really felt tired though out the day. Anyway, after pack up & going to Warhammer World with my friends. It was time to set up & get ready for my fourth round, start of day two. Again was gutted I was not able to get bugman breakfast due to the hotel. Round 4 - Andy Army - Necrons Army list - Lord on Destroyer body, 2x units of Warriors, 3x unit of Necron Wraiths, 2x Monliths & the Deciver. Mission - Kill points, pitch battle I had writen a note just exsplain my army & that my voice was gone for my round 4 & 5 oppents, Andy was very helpful & I am really greatful for him help me though out the game. Also Andy had shown me photos that been leak on the fourms on the brand new Necron models which was really cool. When I saw the army list, I knew right away the Monlith would case me problems, like DaemonPrinceDargor double Land Raider practise game :D More so since my Melta guns would not get there 2d6 against there Hulls with the living metal rule? In the end the Space Wolves mange to phase the Necrons out & win a second game for the Wolves. Also during the game I was told I was Nominee for best army, the fifth time for my Space Wolves in in the year in Warhammer World. Got to say I am happy GW went to five rounds, this has help a lot. Travel for one & as said I lost my voice, I think if it was the old set up with a 6th round I'd have to call it a day. Round 5 - Return of the Tau Oppent Eddie Army - Tau Army list - Op-Tau-Prime (Farsight), 4x Suits bodyguards, 2x Suit, 9 Fire Warriors in Devil Fish, 9 Fire Warriors, 6 Fire Warriors, 8 Pathfinder in Devil Fish, Piranha, 2x Broadsides, Ironhide (Hammer Head) Eddie Tau army really great & full of great conversions. This army saw Eddie win best army back in Throne of Skulls July. Also it was great to see Eddie as my oppent as we know each other from past Throne of Skulls & we know a lot of people from Glasgow. Again my voice was still not with me. It been a while since I fought Tau in a tournament. Last time was 2009 as my Iron Warriors use to alway battle them. Like wise I not really fought any Tau for a good number of year now in my local GW store or gaming club/friendly games in general. Overall another really bloody game & Eddie a great oppent. My Wolf Guard Rethel made his saga by making a lot of armour save & cover save. This is a Wolf Guard one my friends hated as his saga start back then. Back in the very first few games year ago, he had 16 save to take, my friend would give me £20 if I made all of them, I past 14 out of 16. Since then Rethel has been make armour or cover save against all the odds, it take a lot to taken him down. Surely Leman Russ & the Allfather are looking out for him. It only been my hotel with how warm it was that annoyed me, as said I get unwell with heat as I got a really low tolerance, yet with the cold I can not feel it/I enjoy the cold. In fact was out in the heavy rain up here in Scotland a mere few moment ago with no effects. Anyway......... I am happy once more to get a army nominee on the painting/building/hobby side. Just end of the day I really like seeing cool armies, it why I like going to tournament & see project log on the fourm. I hate people moan about the hobby & not enjoy it for what it worth, I don't care about prise rise or a rule, I enjoy the hobby because I am with friends, getting games. While when it come to my own armies, I really like to try make them stand out, I am alway converting my armies, just feel like they are mine, instead of a out of the box army. When it come to tournament it is this side I am alway aim for. Ever single model dose have there own story because of the games I played. I commented on my Wolf Guard who the bane of one of my friends. Each model has earn some great honours worth of a saga in the name of Leman Russ & the Allfather & it why I model trophies. Being Space Wolves we can get away with this, add Nid head, Dark Eldar helmets, Skulls & bones. Each one dose rep a might deed or a "skillful" deed like Rothgar one. I'll update some models due to how much they went on earn more glory & honours. But overall really enjoy the event & would recommend ToS to anyone. I like the new set up. Better that you can attend as many as you want & it make great use of Warhammer World which is the HQ of all that is Games Workshop. It good to met up with friends. While tournament side it great as I like going to tournament, battle new oppent or armies I might not see in a while. So for the Space Wolves, the next tournament is Stirling wargaming club Rapid Fire in two week time, 29th & 30th Oct. Then in Nov 17th I will be working on a new version of my Iron Warriors, to mark ten year of collecting Iron Warriors & with GW release a lot of cool new kits over the year. They will be aim for ToS April next year to mark ten year of attending tournaments with best army nominee as my main aim because my Iron Warriors are a very big main army for me, as said ten year of collecting & it because of them I got into a NQ to HND model making course, so they mean a lot to me. Going to be writen a complaint about that to be honsty as said I do not re-act well to heat & have been suffer past two days with headace & bad nose bleed. However my voice has slow return as of today. Again was a brillaint weekend & up there with Throne of Skulls April. All oppent where brillaint & had a great attuide, all fought well & give me some of the best games I will rememeber for some time. I was really, really suprise by the award for my dice rolling for Rothgar the Skald, never really exspected that at all during the weekend. So bare that in mind folk, no matter how bad thing can look (my dice roll for exsample) somthing good will come out of it ;) Not just that but it also made me laught :wallbash: All in all, seems like a real fun event, which tempts me to participate sometime soon... I alway recommend that people give tournament a try & never listen to the moan about them. End of the day it a day or two battle new oppents. Not just that but it'll widen your game & possible oppents. I enjoy going to tournament to met new oppent & battle armies I rarely see like Eldar or Tau or Necrons. Or during ToS April I had Guards & Nids. Over the almost ten year of attend tournament I got to say I only ever had 4 terrible oppents & one ok game but not the greatess. But same time you will get bad oppent no matter where you game if it your local game store or club. Be fair back in 2006-2007 I've had the worst line up of oppents who out weight the once I fought in the tournament by so much. I been attend tournament since 2001 since Conflict Scotland. Never regeated anything, fought some of the best games of my life & alway hype up for my next tournament. Got Rapid Fire in a week & a half time, then after that I will be getting my new Iron Warriors up & running for next year tournament session. Also not just the game, but you see so many cool armies that the event offer idea for future armies or to try out on current. Also make you paint armies to a deadline. Yes I know what you mean. As said I have great time in tournaments, overall in the almost ten years I'd only ever class three games as terrible & do not wish to re-battle those oppent, one them being out right cheating. While there is also a fourth game I'd class as not enjoible though these years of going to tournament, but it was not terrible, just really really boring game. But that four games out of 10 year of attend tournament with many many great games which out weight it. Just I get annoyed when I see comment slate tournaments by people who do not even attend them only saying stuff they have heard. But to be honsty if anything I'd say local gaming wise (not tournament) in 2006 to 2007 I had so many terrible game, just lot of people not know the rules, try exsplain a Lascannon = no save ever single turn for ever single time you fought said person who claim to be in the hobby for 6 years, I alway try my best to help people out with the rules, bare in mind I use to work for GW as well & to this day I get ask that my gaming club or local store rule question or just people who where bitter that lossing or people general being back seat gamers. Nearly killed the hobby for me to be honsty. But as said ever tournament I been to I enjoy, ToS April & Oct really stand out for me. While ToS Nov last year the game vs the Daemon round 2 has been one of my most bloodiest games (2 Bloodletter, 1 Wolf Guard, Speeder & a few tanks in d3+2 object mission). I go to tournament just to see cool armies, get idea for future armies & general have a laught game wise. My only goal is the army side which I been happy with my Space Wolves for picking up though out this year. Been a lot of great games I had & this year alone has shown this, like wise it great meet up with some many great people. As ToS July I was down there solo but ended up met up with people I knew from past ToS/40k double from this year or oppent I fought in past tournament. Has now came to a point I said to people I know, if they want to catch up, Fri the day before a tournament in Warhammer World the best time to talk to me. But next year it will be Throne of Skulls APril for me & Oct, July might possible happen just need to wait & see near the time. As said have my new Iron Warriors.
