Real Bolter Ammunition!

I needed something cool to add some extra pop to my replica bolt pistol. I popped on the "Ultramarines" movie while pondering this dilemma and then I saw the bolt shells and knew what I must do!

I added a new blog post describing the build process if anyone is interested. You can read about it here - Steamtech 1876

Here's a picture with a ruler for scale

Pretty time consuming using balsa wood and soaking it to get it to bend. I would have been tempted to use pvc tubing and built it up with pieces of plasticard.

They look damn good though!

These look great! Very nicely done on the details. I also like the sizing. Those are weighty shells indeed.

Slight tangent: I handled a real bolt shell today. I work in an engraving store and a guy brought in 3 20mm (~.75 caliber) casings ejected from the gun of his F-15. It's not a coke can (as some bolter shells are posited as), but you still wouldn't want to be hit by it and then have it also explode.

I can assure you I don't want to be hit by any exploding bullet regardless of size! :D
