Tengo's LPC WIPs

I, Tengo, Filius Leonem of the Dark Angels, first legion of the emperor, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least two squads of Deathwing terminators, Interrogator-chaplain master Asmodai, Master Belial and one Venerable Dreadnought on or before the 31st of March, 2012. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, in penance I will provide the Librarium with as many articles, each constructed with every fibre of my intellect, as is needed for for my failure to be absolved and will wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done. Should I betray my vow, and betray my promise made in the name of the emperor, those responsible for the treachery will be hunted until they meet my blade.

Should I fail my charge, until my own death, I shall remain unforgiven.

Now, as you can see my LPC checklist is:

1 squad of 5 x Deathwing (Assault) terminators: Assembled. Primed and unpainted. Based.

1 squad of 5 x Deathwing (Tactical) terminators: Assembled. Unprimed and unpainted. Partially based (Storm Bolters need drilling).

Belial, Master of the Deathwing: Unassembled. Unprimed and unpainted. Not based.

Chaplain Asmodai: Assembled. Painting in progress. Partially based.

1 x Venerable Dreadnought: Partially assembled. Painting in progress. Partially based.

In case you haven't noticed, I've gotten off to a slow start, but I only got my Belial and Asmodai yesterday, last week saw the purchase of the tactical termies, a basing kit and sprue clippers, and the week before that; the assault termies.

Keeping it relative to the rate the I normally buy new minis, the past month has been a mega-month in terms of buying models, I don't think I've ever acquired such a portion of a fighting force in nearly such a short time before.

I'm taking my time with the modelling, so I make sure that I'm happy with how they look before I even paint them, I'm giving some models a fair bit of battle damage, giving them slightly scenic bases, and (attempting to) really clean the models up before I get started painting. Once the models are primed, I will be able to keep a steady rate of painting, to get them done alot quicker than I've taken already. I'm pretty much bang on schedule.

Enough blathering, you clicked on this thread to see pictures! I thought I'd take a few pictures of my starting point, there's not really all that much to see, but it's something to show you that I haven't taken the oath and not even started yet. Last week, all of the models here were either still in their sprues, or not even yet in my possession, except my ven dread of course, which has been lying disassembled on my desk for several years!

First up is the family photo, a snapshot of my entire progress to date overall, although I totally forgot the dreadnought, but I'm sure you all know what a metal venerable dreadnought looks like!

Next is the assault terminator squad:

and in more detail; the two thunderhammer weilders:

The Wolverine:

The medicine man(Apothecary):

And The sergeant:

As you can see, I've gone for rather extensive battle damage, a few bullet craters and cuts and scratches on the TDA that allows them to survive so much! Looking though the photographs, I see some mould lines that I hadn't noticed before, I'll clean those up, as well as giving the battle wounds a little tidy up when I'm adding the finishing touches to the squad before priming.

Next is what there is of the largely still unassembled tactical terminator squad, Just the Sgt. done and the cyclone guy on his way, the rest are just legs stuck on bases at the moment.

Here's a friendly face for you, good ol' chaplain Asmodai, remember him?

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd293/mercilesstengo/40K/DSC_2140.jpg

I only just got him from mail order yesterday, they took forever, but I'm going to wait until I get hold of some nice new knives, files and a razor saw first, I really want that shoulder pad, but I don't want the power sword!

and finally, Lysand- er I mean Belial...

A pretty cool model, but I'm doing away with the imperial fist thunder hammer and storm shield, and just sticking plastic ones on there. I've started to have a go at removing the imperial fist insignia, but again, I'll wait 'till I get some shiny new tools next week before I go any further with him.

And not forgetting the camera shy dreadnought, he's assembled, but his legs are not currently connected to his 'torso' no biggie I suppose. What's a blob of super glue, a bit of greenstuff or even a pin vice between venerated veterans?

I'll update the status of the models as soon as they progress and upload pictures when I can (Camera is not mine, sadly) but I probably won't have any major updates until all the models are assembled, conversions are done and painting of each models starts and finishes, and any inbetween WIP updates I can be bothered to share!

For the Lion!
