After not working on anything for well over a week I've finally, finally gotten the bits I needed to construct this:

Wasn't originally planning on having a gunner to go with the Heavy Bolter, but kind of pleased how it turned out so I just rolled with it. Now, with this done I can now finally finally finish the Spartan.

Oh, and I guess not having done anything wasn't entirely true as I've worked a bit on making a caretaker for the tank:

With my Emperor's Champion having tartaros pattern terminator armor instead of artificer armor, I figured I'd try to convert another for my techmarine with full servoharness as that also counts as artificer armor. I kind of like how he's turning out, but i think i need more cables and stuff hanging from his armor. Oh and more cogwheels, can never have too many cogwheels.

Larden: Sure, the Techmarine is made out of techmarine and tartaros terminator bits. Everything but the head and left hand is from a FW tartaros terminator, make sure you get sergeant (or weapon pack's) left arm. I suggest looking for the bits on ebay. Then add a finecast techmarine to the mix for the servoharness. I found just buying the whole marine was both easier and cheaper than trying to find the sepperate servoharness bits. The Techmarine body is also a good source for mechanicus symbols that can be cut of then reused. And of course the axe is from that mini too. The head used is a Ravenwing biker techmarine that I cut down in size and filed until it would fit in place the regular tartaros head. Lastly the home made mechanicus symbols is a brass cogwheel from gw's 40k basing kit with a vehicle skull icon put superimposed in front. Just needed to remove the little bones first. I think that's it. I did a lot of filing on both the terminators back and the backpack beforefitting them together as it otherwise portruded way too much

On a different note, this conversion greatly demonstrates the difference between FW and FC resin, while they look similiar FW is just that much harder.

Glad to hear it, she is an impressive beast.

So the Spartan has the option for a pintle mounted heavy bolter? That would be extra sweetness on top of your brilliant model.

You did a wonderful job on this. Very impressive.

Cheers,

It has indeed. There's options for either stormbolter, heavy flamer heavy bolter or multimelta. Doesn't come with modeling options for any of them, so conversion is required, even though it wasn't particularly difficult.

I'm trying to tell myself I don't need to order a spartan that I won't have time to paint, but you make it very difficult, indeed.

Krikey, I don't think my body could handle the sight of a spartan in your templars army in addition to every other feast of the eyes you've posted.

That said, this spartan is beautiful and the addition of the gunner on top really added something unique to the piece.

Not all that much to this update. My Techmarine is done which most of you might have already seen in the ETL thread:

I also made a group shot containing all of my 5 vows I completed for ETL:

And because someone at some point asked for a Termie groupshot:

Currently they count around 30 with my two fake termies. Even with this many, I still have another 10 or so planned. 5 are a long time coming but will be a while yet, while 5 are because I saw preview pics of the deathwing termies in GW's upcoming new starter box. Mmmm... termies with studs.

Been a bit busy lately, so been light on the updates. I have however more or less finished painting these guys:

Say hello to former squad Barachiel of the Dark Angels from the Dark Vengeance box. This will be the only shot of them together like this, as I'll be breaking them up a bit, with the Sergeant going to join some former Blood angels from Space hulk. Realized after I took the photo that one guy is more or less completely obscured by the assault cannon and power sword, but since he's virtually identical to the other guy at the back I didn't feel like retaking the photo.

As conversions these guys were a breeze, mostly consisting of removing death wing feathers and covering them up with purity seals. Only the sergeant required any real effort.

Looking great! It's convenient that the sword icons of DAs fit so well with our sword brethren :) These guys certainly look like they belong in a crusade! But, no shoulder chapter symbols?

will be putting transfers on 'em later once I finish up all the SH termies as well, doing em all at once. Also think i might be out of the most apropriate size at the moment anyway...

And yeah on those sword icons, only the winged versions felt blatantly DA, and those were really few in number

Great conversions and paint jobs! If only I were so confident and skilled with conversions that I'd dare do that with my DV termies. I've done removing shoulder tactical arrows from my AoBR tactical marines, but they weren't as detailed anyway, but I still hated doing it! Final word on how well it turned out will have to wait until they are painted, which they still aren't since I somehow ended up painting pretty much everything else before the AoBR tacticals.

Still, who knows, as I'm having second thoughts about bothering with the DA, I might just end up templarizing them after all some day.

Nice Job Reinhard as usual!

I still havent even taken my dark vengeance of the sprues yet...

They almost dont even look like DA at all , was there alot of cutting involved? I havent looked at the models in close detail yet but It seems you did a good job...

Sir_Isenhar: Well apart from the Dark Angel symbol on each one's right shoulder, most didn't have much else needing cutting save for a few DW feathers. A couple had ornamental DA symbols too. I didn't even have to cut most things off particularly skillfully as I simply covered up the marks left with some extra purity seals. The sergeant was a bit more involved, with the big wing motives coming up from his back and some trickily placed feathers behind the skull with the gloria
