LPC WIP - Big vet update and rhino WIP + last tac marine

Ignatia Mortis

Recommended Posts

I, Ignatia Mortis of the Dark Angels, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least 1 Company Master, 1 plastic Interrorgator Chaplain, 1 plastic Librarian, 8 company veterans, 6 tactical marines (1 special and 1 heavy weapon) 1 Landraider Crusader and 1 Up-armoured rhino transport on or before the 31st of March, 2012. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

Ok, so I had a suggestion in another of my threads to create a WIP thread for my PLC pledge (as seen above)

To start I have 3 plastic conversions from the DA veteran box.

Interrogator Chaplain -

Company Commander -

And a WIP Librarian -

In addition I have a squad of Company Veterans -

Every challenge started is one more that is closer to completion! Go get them, friend!

Looks like there are some mold spots and some excess sprue. Gonna Xacto knife them off before priming?

I agree with Paul, you might want to get a sharp knife and carefully shave them off, other than that, they're looking golden so far, nice conversion and sweet poses mate!

That's a whole big chunk of vow to bite off, the Crusader and the HQ alone would probably take me to the end of march! you sure you can do it in time pal?

Best of luck man!

Got the Chaplain to a standard I'm happy with.

He was a quick paint and I think hes at a good tabletop standard, first time painting the cream robe :P ( well he sure looks good on the table!)

Aaand... a veteran

Any feedback and critic?

It's a standard I would be happy to play with or against. Looking good - We need every vow to be completed to have a shot at this, so lets keep them coming!

Too many in my area play their armies in a combination of Sprue Gray, Finecast Pale, and Pewter Metal.

Painting looks good and solid, I love your poses. I'll reference them in my next squad. Only issue I have with the painted models, is drill out the bolters or paint some black dots on the ends of the barrels.

Looking good

Thanks for the comments, Most people in my area play with undercoat black.

The barrels will be drilled as soon as I get a drill piece small enough.

Company Master is nearly done, just waiting for the wash to dry before a bit of highlighting on the robe. I also have nearly finished 2 tactical marines. I was reading rumours about the new 40k starter set maybe including Dark Angels, I really hope so, it would be a great chance to get a friend into 40k and to add to the army. :tu:

Really like your painting style Ignatia Mortis. Results in a model that looks like you are looking at it through the smokey haze of a battlefield, very atmospheric. Good choice of tones in the colour palette so nothing overpowers anything else. Can't wait to see more of these as they roll of the production line.

Did some more painting, got the 2 tac marines done. I also did some more work on the librarian to make him fit the role a bit better, the commander is nearly done.

Any feedback?

looking at this guy's shoulder you might try GS'ing some curver downward horns off the skull so it looks more like the librarian symbol

On the commander, pick out the halo around the sword on his powerfist, that's a neat detail don't lose it. Does he have a name? Maybe put it on the banner. Your guys are looking great.

For drilling out the barrels, most people use a "pin vice". They're sold at most arts and crafts stores like hobby lobby or micheal's

Feedback? You are painting in a consistently high quality at an exteremely fast pace!

So let me see:

Chaplain? Check!

Libby? Check!

Company Master? Check!

Company Vets: 1/8th?

Tac marines: 2/6ths/ (incl. special weapon guy)

Vechicles: not started yet.

Progress looks good - keep the pace :D

Just a question: What happened to the Company Commander in the first post? The one with the winged helmet and the wicked gun?

Captain Semper - The poor Company Master got mauled by my adorable cat and I salvaged what I could.

Got another 3 tac marines done.

and I scrounged up the vehicles.

(when I got this, it was in a bad shape and I'm fixing it up to have heavy armour)

Thoughts?

I had to look up the word "scrounge" :cuss So are you going to re-paint the LR and convert it to Crusader? Sounds like a task to me! The Rhino sure has upgraded armour B) hahaha!

The marines look really nice actually - just do me a favor? Put the cat in an empty interrogation room until end of March, will you? :D

Captain Semper - The landraider is going to get a repaint (its only on coat of primer on there) and the beauty of it is that the sponson arn't glued in. So I just need to order the crusader sprue from GW.

About the cat, He spends most of the day sleeping on a blanket outside ( :) ) and only comes in at night for dinner and last night he got my brush, so until I can get another, no painting.

He is a traitor, and must be punished!
