Dark Rage's LPC

Dark Rage

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I just signed up for the LPC yesterday glad I had time, only a small batch to paint up so it shouldnt be to hard to achieve be nice to see the DA subforum win this year!

Here are the first group of pictures, the scouts I will be painting from scratch and as for the dreadnought the main body is about 80% done but it has been like this for about 2 months, thanks to the LPC I feel abit more motivated to get it finished.

That's the spirit Dark Rage!

It looks like a promising start - the Dread sure looks velerable... ;) We'll show them yet!

Yeah it has a winged Dark Angel helmet on a trophy rack from the Chaos Terminator Lord kit, looks like. Trophy racks are cool but you should paint the helmet black or something to represent a defeated company master of the Fallen, or something. Otherwise it might look like the Dread has a secret agenda...or maybe the Dread is actually a member of the Fallen! Gasp!

About the helmet, it is acually painted to represent a fallen dark angel, I know dark angels supposed to keep the fact of the fallen secret but thought it would make a good addition to the dreadnought.

Heres the helmet.

Update with a few pictures, hope they are abit better quality than the others.

Little progress made on the dreadnought but thought I would get some better pictures. I made a small start on the scouts, should have all the faces and camo on the clothing areas painted by the end of the day.

That's a really nice camo scheme. I look forward to seeing it finished. I love those old metal scouts, so much nicer than the current 'boxer with a broken jaw' look. Is that a five o'clock shadow on the sergeant? :)

One of the rare occasions that I change my mind about a model. I used to really dislike the Ven Dread but now... I looks terrific - your painting and modelling has done a world of good to a generally unloved model! Good stuff - keep the pace! :)

Hey all,

Just saw the update on the LPC, 52 DA vows very nice, made alittle bit of progress on my LPC, was gonna paint all the faces up but decided to paint up one of the scouts as a test model to see how the camo looked with the green armour, also the dreadnought body is at near enough 100% so will be starting on the arms soon enough, overall will say about 50% complete on my vow.

Heres the pictures.

Hey, thanks for all the replys so far.

@Zeller: grenades were done with boltgun metal, badab black wash and then chainmail highlights on raised areas, Pouches were done with graveyard earth, devlan mud wash and then desert yellow highlights, they do acually look ok without the highlights as you can see from the 4 unfinished scouts which havent had highlights added yet.

About 80% done, just a few bits to add onto these 4, should finish this week.

Those scouts look great. You do a particularly nice job of making all the little details stand out without overwhelming your basic color scheme. I particularly like the hazard stripes on the melta bomb. On that note, you might think about doing a little something with the flat sides of the chain blade on your lead scout. It looks good as is, but a little pattern or freehand could look really nice, and you've clearly got the skills to pull it off.
