House Katchar - Knight Household and AdMech 'Crons

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

since no army out of the box will ever do it for me, this has to be another counts-as army.

The two things I have always wanted in 40k were a huge army of Pre-Heresy Emperor's Children and a full Household of Imperial Knights. With the first thing out of the way and the release of the beautiful NDK kit about a year ago I decided it was now time to tackle the second project.

For a tournament in March I'm building myself a 1250 points Grey Knights list and amongst other things it will include:

- Baron Knight Lord Katchar of House Katchar (NDK w/ flamer and sword)

- Knight Lancer Adena (VenDread w/ Multimelta & Autocannon)

- Knight Paladin Raptor (VenDread w/ Assault Cannon & DCCW)

- Knight Paladin Vaporius (VenDread w/ Assault Cannon & DCCW)

- Knight Warden Avicedus (Dread w/ Missile Launcher & TL Autocannon)

- Knight Warden Wut Terras (Dread w/ Missile Launcher & TL Autocannon)

I decided to make finishing these models for this list my vow for the LPC.

Some of you may remember my first Knight from my SoS force some time ago, and all the others will be based on his build. Yes, this means I need 6 Dread Knights for the project, but I am finishing off some commission work as I type - so the money earned goes right back into the hobby

I'll get pics of some already built Knights up asap, maybe even this afternoon. Until then, consider this a kind of placeholder :(

Cheers,

Capt. E.

Really nice work. Awesome to see how the newer plastic kits are inspiring some really inventive conversions, like these. Can't wait to see more.

One small request if you're taking more pics; If your camera has a macro function, or you can just get closer in a few shots, don't be afraid to zoom in on some of that amazing work. I for one would like to see how some of these are put together. Especially if you're particularly proud of how you pulled something off, take a nice close up and maybe a brief description of why it's brilliant.

Keep it up! Builds like these really get me inspired, but until I have the models, I'd like to get ideas for my plan of attack.

Thanks for the replies so far

@ Canardwc: Yes, the Knights are too big for Dreads, but there is no other way of ever getting more than 3 Knights on the table if you do not only want to use NDK rules. So the Dreadnought rules will have to suffice, I don't care. Yes, these dudes can shot over Rhinos, but then again they can be shot from anywhere on the battlefield. Also, Autocannon + Missile Launcher / Autocannon + Multimelta aren't the most OP choices available so I guess that balances out quite a few things ;)

@ Subtle Discord: I will deliver better pics for sure, but today the lighting sucked badly. Close-ups and better/more photos are as good as underway, though!

I scratched, fixed and added quite some stuff during the day, so expect another update by tomorrow

Here are the new pics:

Fixed some minor issues with the Wardens, they are almost done now. Only thing left to do is fill the gaps between plasticard and shoulder guards with Milliput.

Same thing for the Lancer, added some cabling and stuff to the hips. I will also cover up all the writing on the armour plates to make it look less Grey Knightish.

http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/jaycop313/DSCF3748.jpg

I also added the head and some more bitz to the first Paladin. Once I'm done covering the writing on the plates he also will be ready for basecoating.

And last but not least some parts I prepared for the second Paladin. Decided I will name him Rudolph, you might guess why :)

Alright lads, this was a pledge and I do not intend to fail!

@Loken86: Sorry mate, no tutorial, I ran out of plasticard with my last Knight^^ They are pretty easy to build though, you only need a middle piece that you can wrap the "armour plates" around, the cockpit-parts of an IG Valkyrie are perfect for that.

There has been some progress however:

Here's the Lord Baron Katchar 2.0, repaired from actual game damage, with a new back-banner and a new base:

http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/jaycop313/DSCF3941.jpg

Yesterday I also finished the first Knight Warden, the Avicedus:

I hope you like them, I'll upload some more pics of the other Knights as soon as they got some more colour...

So long,

:D

Like them?

Are you crazy?!

LOVE them!

Especially the Knight Warden - do you think there's a slight chance to get a step-by-step tutorial on how to build them, including pics from more angles?

Thanks everybody so far :)

@Rogan: I won't do any tutorials because I do not have the parts spare to make more Knights and I can't afford any more NDKs. As said above, I also ran out of plasticard and I do not intend to buy more in the near future.

But you can take a look at the pictures on top of this page pre-priming. You can see all the parts I used as well as where to cut and place the plasticard bits. Hopefully that might help you a bit ^_^

And to continue this, here is the second Warden, the "Wut Terra's", alongside its sister engine "Avicedus":

http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/jaycop313/DSCF3960.jpg

Spotted some things that I missed on this one (lenses on the missile launcher and muzzle on the right autocannon) but that will be a matter of minutes to be fixed :P

More to come soon!

Thanks very much :D

So the tourney the Knights are mainly built for is coming tomorrow and painting is going well ;) I have by now finished the first Paladin and am halfway through the second one. I'll upload pics of both of them either tonight or tomorrow afternoon ;)

Today will be used for playtesting my AdMech Necrons some more though, because as much as I like Spess Mehriiiines, these metal dudes just are so much more fun to play with :D

2 major wins for the AdMech today! Am I allowed to post pics of my AdMech models here, even though they are counts as Necrons? :)

Anyway, here is the "Raptor" (VenDread w/ Assaultcannon + DCCW/Stormbolter), piloted by Bartholomäus Solem:

http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/jaycop313/DSCF3973.jpg

Its sister engine "Vaporius" is about to get finished as well, I will deliver pictrues asap :)

All admech are allowed on this forum regardless of the codex used to represent them. Their are a couple of Dark Mech armies here that use Dark Eldar rules so you are good :D

Btw, AMAZING knights there! Care to share your stc's? (Tell us the parts you used for the weapons :))

They are magnificent  A really nice take on a Household and definitely inspiring! At first, when I saw that you were adding Bretonnian knight helm-tops, I thought that it looked awful, but after you've applied paint, it looks great!
