LPC 2012 Vow WIP

The grey armor is done, freehanded and weathered and I've based the cables, soft joints, and bear/wolf pelts. I'm trying not to go overboard with this guy, as he spends 95% of his time safe in a land raider playing with adverse weather conditions.

I'm thinking of adding a little something on the helmet, maybe some red tooth jags below the eyes or something, not sure yet.

That is a lovely conversion. If I may ask, what did you made the staff and the upper part of the pelt from? Did you use green stuff?

Great painting as well!

Snorri

Thanks! The staff is from the Njal Terminator model, the bear cloak is from the SW Terminator box, greenstuffed to tie it in with the existing fur cloak.

Looking good loth sure dose get around the wolfs are the 5th chapter I have seen him part of.

That's no Loth, though I did draw inspiration from the model when I made it. Loth on a budget, I suppose.

Alright update time! At this point, it's mostly little gribblies to paint, and then the bone parts, eyes, and the steel parts.

I've deviated from what I've done in the past with the bronze verdigris, in that the larger areas, namely the wolf heads on the backpack and the shaft of the Runic Staff, were done by starting with my deepest verdigris and sponging on the layers up to the cleanest bronze.

Wyglaf Stormweaver is complete... Finally. I've had this model built and ready to paint since March of last year, and just never got to it.

He has actually had a pretty Wardian career; in his younger years, he successfully ambushed and slew an Avatar of Khaine in personal combat, and has laid low half a dozen Greater Daemons of Chaos, as well as a crowning moment of luck when he sent a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh to his demise, swallowed into the very jaws of the World Wolf.

In his older years, he's been an invaluable advisor to the Wolf Lord Bran Solfang, and uses his powers in more of a support role. This hasn't stopped him from racking up a sizable list of kills; his mastery of weather has sent many Stormravens plummeting to the ground, and in one case, put a quick end to a Dark Eldar planetary invasion, when he summoned up a Tempest that sent the foul Archon's Tantalus craft crashing to the ground, killing him and his concubine of Wyches instantly, and prematurely ending what promised to be a grueling war.

I always need votes on CMON, so here he is. http://www.coolminiornot.com/299894

Wow your painting is incredible. The weathering looks so natural its crazy. The only thing I am not a fan of is the overdone verdigris. It looks as though those parts are glowing not worn copper. Do love the conversion though. Amazing work with GS and bits.

It's not so bad in life. I think the higher saturation setting on the camera decided to have a field day withe the verdigris. Might have a go with a green wash to pull it back and see if that helps.

a great conversion and once again a beautifull paintjob

ps what colour did you use for your verdigris

I use a 2:1 mix of VMA Gunship Green to VMC Bluegreen, with a bit of white added to the mix for the deepest parts.

Fantastic work as always. I'd love to know the recipe for the wolf skull on the top of the staff.

I start with a Khemri Brown base, followed by a 4:2:1 mix of Graveyard Earth:Leviathan Purple:Black, thinned to a washed and liberally applied over the basecoat, paying attention to the recesses. I then go into some of those recesses (in this case, just the eye and nose sockets) with some Badab Black.

From there I lightly layer my Khemri Brown base back on over the higher points, and start blending up toward pure Bleached Bone. For a final edge highlight, I add some white to the Bleached Bone. It's a pretty fun recipe, and I always look forward to painting bones because of it.
