Thanks

Progress report so far is a mix of plastic shavings, glue and blood (due to a slipped scalpel).

The three Dreadnoughts have been cleaned, weapons/exhausts drilled and have had some conversion work to make them look a little different from each other (AoBR).

The Landraider is in the beginnings of being cut off the sprue and sub-assys are being assembled. The weapons have been drilled out where required.

I should be undercoating on the weekend and I will be posting photos then as well.

How dare you sir!

I think we should fight out the duel on table top as well as on the painting table, maybe raise the stakes for a 1000 point battle! The winner takes all honour and glory :D

Now where have all my special space wolf characters gone?

I think I'll give you a little more time, if you've handicapped yourself further by cutting yourself (as if painting dark angels wasn't enough already) ;)

Best of luck to you!

Capt. S: those pesky SW need to be taught some manners - my pet (TheDev.) will be getting a rolled up newspaper to the nose but he is out digging in the garden at the moment

Gillyfish: Thanks ;)

After a day in the Forgeworld spray shop this is how the vow now stands

I use Army Painter Skeleton Bone to speed up the whole vow :D

Elmo: That Army Painter primer looks like an excellent basecoat / primer - how would you rate it?

I've got 10 Deathwing as part of my vow and any shortcuts would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Alex

FC: Thanks and I will be uploading the completed dreads (hopefully) next fri. I will be using the LS missile pods as a conversion to give the AoBR dreads another weapon option. I will be making the ML interchangeable with the CCW.

Loki: I would recommend it but dont spray it too close or too heavily. Use light coats and layer them to avoid lumpy paint finish. It is then simply a case of highlighting and shading and then you can get to the fine details. It is lots faster and smoother than brush painting bleached bone.

My DW Dread was done using AP Spray and you can see it in my 4th Company thread (link on my siggy).

let me know how they turn out :D

I use the Army Painter sprays for all my priming, and they are much better than the Citadel ones imo.......it pays to be 20cm away from the models, and to move the can fairly quickly around as the spray goes on pretty well......I use the platemail coloured spray for my army and it saves loads of time! :tu:

Most of my base coats use the Army Painter sprays...

Skeleton Bone for DW

Angel Green for Greenwing vehicles

Matt black for remainder

I also use the Pure Red Spray for my youngest's Blood Angels.

I get mine from HERE

They are cheaper than the GW spray and I find the colour range a lot better.

There are a couple of things that you must consider...

The Angel Green and Pure Red are not an exact match for the GW version so may require a thin top coat of GW colour or ink/wash to make them match the rest of your army.

The last can of black I used was a little too glossy to be used as anything other than a base coat so for example - it was not ideal as a finish coat for my RW. I had to matt it down by using black ink and Codex Grey drybrushing. Not sure if the shine was just a one off as I don't remember this happening with the earlier cans I bought.

As facmanpob says, remember to spray light coats from a distance. Also shake the can for a couple of minutes before use and when finished, hold the can upside down and spray to clear the nozzle.

Yup, Chapterhouse studios...

They where part of the order where I got the "stretch my Raven" kit :)

Dev.... The Dreadnought arms are done - is that good enough for now (my eyes hurt :) ) ?

After a week of little sleep and with my hands stained in holy coloured ointment I present:

Just need to do the bases, a bit of mud on the feet and a bit more DA bling and they will be ready :)

I need to tidy up a bit of the text as I was shaking through lack of sleep by that point.

All of the arms are loose so I can swap weapons around and I have 3 missile boxes waiting to be converted - but that is for after 15th Aug.

I went for a darker red on the Meltas this time and think it looks better than my lighter bolters. I will have to repaint them all now :)

Comments always welcome.

Wonderful work and incredible detail as usual.

I love how you can keep going back to your most recent creations and always find something new, a hand painted text, or dark angel symbol, the checkers on the shield, magnificent stuff.
