ETL Vow Grey Knights WIP

Recommended Posts

its been a while since i bought these but hadn't started painting them.

thanks to the etl challenge i just got motivated

so this is my dread knight, just primed and repositioned.

i really like the nemesis dread knight but it always seems to be just standing around waiting.

so i did a little knive work, and some glueing, even put some green stuff to it.

tadaaa:

so as i wanted my nemesis dread to look as if is was firing a something up in the air or parrying a strike from something in front of him

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/b65928c6.jpg

there are still cables to add, especially to get a connection between the marine and the machine.

started with a black wash for all metal parts and a blue wash over all armored parts.

i have to mention tha my grey knights are in fact grey not metallic silver as in the codex, i'm decided so after listening to the garro audio drama.

there it's said said initially all insignia were put of his armour.

when its done it will hopefully look like this one, ore if im lucky even better.

and last but not least:

the venerable dread

tried to give the sword a crystaline appearance, because in my opinion it would make sence when force weapon would be made fron the same crystals the psi-matrix of a librarian is made of

c&c is always welcome especially on the teleporter device on the back,

i've been following the look of the normal ones.

after remembering that i vowed to paint the dk with deamon hammer

i returned to my desk to start painting again, but first dropped the dk to the floor,

where of course it broke into several pieces.

after putting it together again its pose has changed a bit, but i have to admit i like the new one more

it's been a busy day,

I seriously had to play with my airbrush, I think I also almost broke it but none the less,

when I put paint in, a certain amount of it comes out at the front end, so it cant be that bad.

so no more talking here is what I managed to do today.

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/2d0a8236.jpg

gave it a wash with thinned badab black and my airbrush of course :D

and this is what it looked like when I stopped

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/7bc1eb46.jpg

and from another angle, of course I cleaned it up (without the airbrush of course)

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/8e4c3703.jpg

somehow it looks better on the photo than in reality

oh and a picture of the weapons

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/620f687c.jpg

nothing spectacular this far

havent applied any highlights yet, no pilot (not even assembled or cut from sprue),

havent decided jet if I want to add some red on the wings as in the codex or a lot of other stormravens i've seen so far

Wow man... had to check out your stuff... Im amazed you pulled off such incredibly nice non-metallic metals... those've gotta be one of the hardest things to achieve in miniature painting and you sir nailed it! You're nailing all these GKs.... hell yeah, fantastic work!

Hail Brothers

second ETL vow done

had really fun painting that one as I could fool around with the airbrush, although I have to admit it is much more difficult to use than I had hoped

some words about the stormraven

in my opinion the Stormraven model is to short, it doesnt seem to be able to fly. Maybe it can drop but I'm not too certain about that.

More so if its meant to be able to carry a Dread and a squad of marines, so as lots of people before me i added space by elongating it.

As you can see the tail is a bit angled. I tried to give it a bit of the look of the Lynx Helicopter that is used by the british armed forces.

As its one of the fastest and most maneouvrable ( dont know if I spelled that correctly) Helicopter ins the world it seemed appropriate to me.

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/09aadd2f.jpg

I also decided to keep it plain and simple. it should more look like a workhorse than a pompous craft of an inquisitor.

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/joghurtberserker/2153443a.jpg

and last but not least I changed the look of the turret. I didnt like that one either. too boxy although the idea of the servitor manned turret has its appeal

as always feel free to C&C
