Yet another new vow-

I Flint&steel answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete 1 techmarie and a servitor from Codex: Dark Angels of total value 100 points on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to The Dark Angels and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end”

Old text below...

Well, I think it's time for me to add some more points to my small vow.

I was hoping to come to a totla of 500+ (previous vow of 285 points, add some 250 for a termie squad and then maybe some more... who knows) but I am not certain I can make it.

Instead, I have this lovely Belial model that is waiting waaaay too long for it's paintjob. I'd better paint it nw, while he still has an entry in the codex.

I mean, who knows what GW might do with it, right?

Therefore I will paint another mediocre 130 points.

Vow below:

Wip-pictures will be added at the end of this thread.

edit: this (below) was the first vow, the second vow is above this line -----------------------------------------

Looks like I can start now. More or less :P. Normal life seems to be a bit more quiet nowadays, and it's time for me to start painting again!

My vow: 2 landspeeder tornados and 1 (DW) dread.

So far I have build 1 tornado and undercoted (and build) 1 dread.

Pics of the dread will be grouped together in my photobucket account (he'll have to share the DW map, I guess) and the speeders will be together also.

No fear, I will just post them here for all to see.

I've just undercoated the dread, in white:

before

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/thewarp_jam/Deathwing/DSC_1979.jpg

after.

The idea is to show most of the painting stages. No idea if it will help anybody, but it's a small thing to do.

The dread should look similar to my DW, who so far exist of 1 fully painted model, 5 more in the beginning stage (undercoat and 1st wash), and bits of sprue and/or metal.

Nevertheless they should look coherent once on the board.

I am likely to do the same with the speeders (show the steps). But I wont start painting them until I have both build and undercoated.

If things go well I might expand my vow, but I want to finish this first. No need to rush now, is there...? ;)

Cheers all,

F&S

Looking forwards to seeing your progress :)

Same here.

Please remember two things though:

1. You can only claim points for one weapons' configuration. Since your vow does not specify, now it's a good time to tell us which load-out you're vowing for.

2. You can no longer add to your vow. You can however make a new one ONCE you complete your previous one. So you need to finish the dread and the Land Speeders before you make another vow. When the time comes you'll alos need to remember that if failing in a subsequent vow the ALL previuosly completed vows will be nullified. So be extra confident when you up the stakes!

2 tornados and a dread with plasma/missles coming up... somewhere next month!!!

I beg to differ  the loadout will be plasma/missles. But, since I will paint the whole model, I might as well paint the rest.

And I will finish this one first, before I will start another vow.

Good luck mate, we could do with a few completions!

  • 2 weeks later...

Inked and drybrushed the dread last night, will probably finish it tonight or tomorrownight.

After that it's off to the assembly of the 2nd speeder and painting them... Depending on 'everything' I might even finish this during the weekend! :D

Pics will follow shortly.

Here he is, just the 'main body' painted.

Both arms are painted at the moment, will probably do some detail wark next, then a wash of devlan mud, after that a more, specific highlight with 'sand white' IIC (VMColour).

Dread's ready:

In the background a lone terminator, now with scratch-built cyclone. Magnetized, too.

Off to build the 2nd speeder, hopefully tomorrow, depending on the kids :P.

Otherwise... hmmm, work saturday, maybe saturdayevening building, and spraying/painting during sunday. So, I'll possibly finish my vow by sunday. Otherwise early next week.

Is it possible to vow a not-complete squad? That lone termie needs friends, who are already assembled but nowhere near a finish!

Hey, Flint&Steel,

Do you think you can make a completion of your first vow before Tuesday's weekly update? That'll be grand!

Regarding your question, you can vow the squad if the 4 out of 5 Termies are unpainted but you'll get no points for the painted one. So work out his cost, and subtract it from the total cost of the squad. At least this is what I think you mean...

I like the dirty cream Dread - makes it look well used.

Like everything else we post here, it looks better IRL :)

Semper: wont make it this week - tomorrow we will probably take the kids to some kind of Midevel (spelling?? no idea) Knight tournament setting thingie. I've magnetized some parts yesterday and willhave to see how far I get tonight.

I'd be happy if I can udercoat the whole thing on Monday morning, but I am not counting on it.

Next weekend I have a bloodbowl tournament (a small one), where I will drink beer, talk a LOT, and roll some dice/move some models.

So I dont expect to do much 40k-ing or painting then (read: none).

I'll do my very best though, so who knows. Will fulfill my vow anyway, but I hope to do that soon. Time will tell! :)

Right...

I will finish building the 2nd speeder tonight, and hopefully prime it tomorrow evening IF the weather allows that. I will start painting the first one though.

If all goes well, I might finish them thursday evening/night, perhaps friday evening.

And, if all goes well, I might get myself 10 'new' AoBR termies who I can use for a second vow. Depending on the state they arrive in, that is. And how much converting there might be done.

How's the rest doing? :)

Completed! 2 speeders and a dread, pics will follow tomorrow (Monday morning that is).

Now I will have to think if I want to make a new vow for a squad of terminators. Got some AoBR termies for cheap, and am thinking of DW-ing 'em.

You know, add and assault cannon, a chainfist, and a decent looking serg.

I have augustus planned for oter things at the moment, so I have a week, more or less... If I can find the hours in the evening it can be done though.

Choices choices... :Elite::Troops:

Allright, time for a second one:

1 Belial with lightning claws.

I will look up the proper sentence(s) after editing the first post, the thread title, and this post...

New vow: a techmarine + servotor for 100 points in total. This way, I've vowed (and, hopefully, painted ) a total of 285+130+100=515 points,... a bit over half a K.

Vow is in the first post, progress will be posted in this thread.
