I'm not the kind of person that likes painting hundreds of models in the same color scheme, as I get bored of it easily, so I've decided to go for a large crusade style army, comprising elements from all nine traitor legions. Danny Cyanide Posted July 16, 2012 Author Share Posted July 16, 2012 Goose, The Angron is indeed a custom sculpt, done by a CMON member named Samuel 777. It's a great sculpt, based off of the artwork in Heresy Collected Visions. It is an ambitious project, and will take a long time, but that's what the hobby is about! I'm going to set a goal of a new squad every 2 weeks, so that should help keep the timeframe reasonable! It currently sits with 88 Marines completed, so it's got a good start already, but so much still left to do! Anyone have a legion they'd like to see tackled first? So far, I have painted: 6 Noise Marines, 10 Iron Warriors 5 Word Bearer Possessed and am part way through the Dark Vengeance CSM as Alpha Legion. Maybe it's just the lack of robes. Nintura Posted September 15, 2012 Share Posted September 15, 2012 I have to ask, are you painting all these shown so far? It just seems like there are two or more paintstyles. Don't take this the wrong way, but when you look at the world eaters, it seems like you dont water your paint down and its a bit chalky, but then you see that beautiful bloodthirster and the blending is superb. Either you're like me and hate to do cannon fodder troops over and over and over and get bored, but take your time and love painting big important models, or something. I painted the World Eaters a couple of years ago, they were only shown here as pictures of "what was already done". The blood thirster was painted and shaded with an airbrush. The paints on the World eaters in thinned, but the one Macro shot really brings out any imperfections in the paint work. As it is, all of the WOrld Eaters, Nightlords and everything painted since I've started this thread are on bare bases, so it's already a BIG base backlog! I feel like I'm setting a really good pace for this project! Next up: Basing. I have all the Nightlords, World Eaters, And everything that I've painted since starting this thread to base, so it's a pretty big job.
