Vindicator magnetisation

This is my current magnetisation project....

Taking the Predator a step further and being very keen on getting the most use from every model I buy I have been playing around with a Vindicator to see if I would be able to turn it into a Transfomer.

This is what I have done so far....

Rhino

Razorback (not too difficult I know ;) )

Predator

Whirlwind

Vindicator

Special Issue (for the guy who wants everything)

The magnet placement is only temp at the moment and I have used 15 magnets of various sizes (what I had left lying around)

There will be 2 small magnets going into the drilled out holes

The ony problem so far was the headlights - at present they are glued to the front glacis of the vindicator - I can live with a lampless rhino at the minute ;)

What I do ask for is for a bit of group feedback/ideas before I go ahead with a full tutorial as per the Predator one I have already done. Someone out there may have a better idea.

Feel free to post pictures / sketches or random comments ;)

Wow, nice work Elmo!

I think you might be missing something - Dozer blade! Perhaps you'll never use it, but just in case. I also assume you will be magnetizing HK missiles and storm bolters on hatches and such?

I ran out of magnets but the dozerblade should not be too difficult to do.

Will prob. use a large magnet inside the track space with a metal plate on the dozerblade arms, one on either side.

I will give it a go next week as my 200 magnets just turned up in the post.

The hatches/HK will be as per the Predator tutorial - link in my sig.

Been playing a bit more with the magnet locations and have now removed the sprue piece from the top hatch opening in favour of 2 more magnets inside the track guard.

This will allow those who want to to paint the internals ;)

I will be working on this over the next week along with how to magnetise the siege shield.

Sorry for the delay in answering - RL got in the way a little (bad connection).

Burias-Drak'shal: What size magnets are you using? Thinking of doing the same with rhinos & razorbacks,

At the moment the magnets are just provisional as this is just a tester with what I had left over on my paint table. I will be putting up a full tutorial with loads of pictures and "how to" as an addition to this one in Sept (well deserved holiday coming up ;) )

Moving on....

here is my initial idea on the Siege Shield

OFF

Fitted

How to

http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/Magnetisation%20of%20Spacemarines%20Predator/CIMG2841.jpg

As you look at the picture - the right hand side is glued together as per the instructions

The left hand side has had 4 (2x1mm) magnets fitted as shown. This allows the SS to be easily added or removed as you wish.

furioso-prime: and I always want more plasma!

How about this then? My version of LasPlas

Great work Elmo!

Not RB Las/Plas, Predator Executioner! (from Kromlech, is it?), and cheaper than buying the whole damn model from FW - I wish they would come up with packs that sell just the turret and/or sponsons for some of their newer stuff. It actually looks like a cross between the plasma destroyer and the heavy conversion beamer - so I'd say it works perfectly for both. I was also looking at the Lemon Russ turret for an Executioner recently.

Thanks EPK - The LasPlas was a little tongue-in-cheek  it is from Kromlech.

Just unpacked it but at first glance they (got 2!) look good quality.

Just to inform my Brothers that due to a well deserved holiday to somewhere warm and sunny this project will be on hold till September.

I am then hoping to start on the official Tutorial and build the other 2 vindicators.

Until then :(

The time of testing is now at an end....

I respectfully ask my brother Techmarines to check out the now completed Post #18 here and actively search for errors and spooking mistakes

All c&c will be forwarded to the Master of the Forge for further action as required..... I hear room 42 is empty again :woot:

You asked for it . . .

Title: Magnetized is spelled with a z

Step 3: In the sentence "do not drill to far" you need an extra o; gluing is not spelled with an e

Step 4: "to hold this firmy in place" I'm sure you meant firmly

Step 9: "Glue the sides onto the Siege Shield and allow to dry." Did you want to say "allow it to dry"

"Put the last 2 small magnets on top of the ones glued onto the Shield DO NOT GLUE" Should be a period between shield and do.

Step 10: interchangable should be interchangeable

"Congratulations - you should now have a fully interchangable Vindicator/Rhino" interchangeable again.

That's all I saw. Cool tutorial!

Cheers - I guess I asked for that :woot:

Magnetised is the British spelling - Magnetized is the US version

The rest are due to a 20 year old Single Malt and bad eyesight - edit underway....
