The Goose's Den

Hey yo everybody, I've been lurking here a lot more lately and have started to miss our lovely community a little too much to resist any longer. Instead of pretending that I'll keep to one project for any amount of time and frustrating people when I inevitably change my mind and start something new, I've started an umbrella topic for all my crazy crap!

Hurrah.

Okay, so, first up, a summary:

Sister of Silence:

Skena, Chosen of Khorne:

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa480/GooseElMoose/IMG_5833.jpg

Finneas Treben, Sorceror of Nurgle

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa480/GooseElMoose/IMG_5848.jpg

Inquisitor

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMGP0043.jpg

Perhaps you also remember my mechanicus skitari(us?), finally finished:

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5922.jpg

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5924.jpg

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5925.jpg

And, recently finished, Apothecary Sukhuth, The Butcher. Hated by his brothers, he is only kept around because of his importance for the survival of the warband. Well aware that he is disliked, the bitter Sukhuth cares little for making friends, and does his best to fuel his brothers' hatred for him by wearing an ornate helm stolen from an Ultramarines Champion, fashioned into the Imperial Aquila, so that the hated symbol is the last thing they see. Going under the Butcher's knife on the operating table is always a risk as he performs vicious experiments on a whim and grafts strange and unwanted bionics on his restrained (and often conscious) brothers, even skinning them if his leather apron should need mending.

Hope you like him! More to come.

Pretty cool stuff there, Goose. That apothecary caught my eye out of the group though - maybe it was the smidge of fluff that went with him... Cool stuff, brother. :tu:

Thank you all, I appreciate the comments. Olisredan I'll be sure to include the fluff on future characters for you

Not a very exciting update today, just a few head/armour conversions for possible future use:

Welcome back, Goose! I had noticed you haven't been around for a while. Whilst I love everything in the Thread (especially the Apothecary :) ) the mini that stands out for me is the Sister of Silence :)

Thank you so much everyone, I'm really glad my work is received so well. Sometimes I feel a little too nerdy designing and modelling my own tiny toy soldiers and putting all this effort into it, but I guess it pays off!

I have been considering making it literally pay off as well, though, and selling some of these guys on Ebay or something. Do you guys think that's a realistic hope? Would people be interested in buying single converted models for painting?

@firestorm40k I actually do have a Bane-character-sergeant lined up, though the resemblance was purely accidental; I was trying to make a scary-looking face-mask-rebreather and ended up with this (still WiP):

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5921.jpg

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5919.jpg

http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/IMG_5917.jpg

As you see in the last two pics he's supposed to be striding menacingly towards his downed victim, but in the front-on shot, he's kinda jogging (or it looks like that because he's leaning one way; blu-tac fail).

Anyway folks, hope you like it!

Welcome back Goose! Good to see you again :)

While your projects all look great, I'm wondering whether you're still thinking of doing Sisters of Silence or not? I know you had a thread here with your SoS project but I was wondering whether you were going to re-launch the project or not?

Cheers,

Ludovic

Yes, people would. More to the point - I definitely would. Characterful conversions are always a big draw for me if I spot 'em. I does depend on how you sell them though, as to how much attention you'll garner, imho.

  • 7 months later...

I know this is considered threadomancy, being (almost) a year since the last post but I thought I'd show off my latest creation ;p

This fella was made for Grotsmasha's Chaplain Conversion Challenge (I love these things!)

Presenting Chaplain Odo of the Iron Champions. Fluff is still WiP but so far:

The armour may seem modest, but it by no means represents the Astartes wearing it - Chaplain Odo is a raucous show-off. The Chaplain Order of the Iron Champions calls for self-restraint and humility, and Odo follows the procedures as far is required, but his actions in battle are often filled with dramatic grandeur as he takes on Orks Chieftains and Eldar Pirate Captains, all the way orating and inspiring the troops following him. Though the chaplains of the Iron Champions are forbidden to shed blood, and thus fight only with blunt weapons, Odo keeps a short sword for taking the heads or other trophies of enemy generals. This is accepted only because of Odo's strategic brilliance battle and he remains a controversial figure in 8th Company.

Yay! So basically I went about this with one goal: make him look like a knight! Odo, based on the Bishop Odo, Earl of Kent, from the Battle of Hastings, is modelled largely on Norman/French knights of the early- and mid-middle ages. I struggled for a while with the weapon but ended up deciding on something unostentatious and small. The skull helm was also difficult to decide on until I remembered the damned artificer's Pre-Heresy Imperial Fists chaplain with an altered mkIII helmet! Anyway, enough talk!

Hey y'all, thanks for the comments!

@deathspectersgt7: I'm not sure about the Inquisitor, I'm pretty bad at finishing projects if I don't do it in one go :p but we shall see, maybe she will inspire a future conversion!

Glad you're back, Goose! I've missed you and your your awesome greenstuff work. On a side note, is there any possibility of a tutorial on that aquilla helm? It looks too cool to pass up.

I take it your tour of Amsterdam is complete?

It's good to be back, 1000heathens! My tour of Amsterdam is not yet complete but I was missing the hobby too much to stay away :p

I can see what I can do with the aquilla helm, it was quite a while ago, but I don't think it was too difficult. Glad you're interested!
