Noise Marine Champion weapons

After attempting to do up another EC/ NL alliance list something clicked and had me thinking [removed by the Ordo Inquisition] . Why can't I give a Noise Marine Champion a Sonic Blaster. I had been up till then but it struck me with the wording that only Noise Marines can have them.

Now, is it just me or is that me being picky or has some idiot not thought that where players are now forced to have Champions in every squad that they may still want them to have access to the same equipment as the squad they lead?

I worked as sub-editor in a small local publishing company many years ago, we did not have the funding or backing that GW does but we would NEVER release a product with such terrible wording.

Its a damn shame this keeps happening just as GW are expanding, because IMO its us old timers keeping the brand alive.

No its an odd ball idea in my opinion. You also can't get an extra attack with a power weapon because you can't have both a bolt pistol and ccw. You're stuck buying a plasma pistol or using specialist weapons

This I missed too. That's just stupid!

I noticed it across the whole codex actually

Champions cannot take special weapon equips in any squad. They have to reference the big table of goodies.

For Terminators, Champions pay a premium on combi-meltas,

For Bikers, the vet can't take the melta-gun.

So my Noise Champions are going Doom Siren, Bolter, Lightning Claw (especially cuz no triple equip)

The one wording I am MORE annoyed with is that you cannot pay 21 points for bolt pistol, CCW, sonic blaster tripe equip marines.

Very true on the CCW issue.

But I don't get it with the Sonic Blaster. It's not a 'Special' weapon but is unique to Noise Marines. Why would and self respecting Aspiring Champion go into battle with a standard Bolter or Bolt Pistol which goes bang. Yes he can stand there firing his doom siren at nothing but that won't be any fun if its not liquifying an enemy in the process.

Champion ranged weapons are restricted, IMO, because of the precision shot rule.

Imagine the NM champion precision shooting with every 6 he rolls.

Fair enough if people were giving him a Blastmaster. But it's basically a souped up bolster.

Yea, it's kind of dumb. I've given mine a 'sonic' combi bolter.

They might fix the problem if enough people email about it. They did with DA scout sniper rifles.

Any idea on the best way to contact them about this?

The adress for the rules department is kicking around here someplace, but id personally get CSM players to sign a petition with all the "corrections" detailed in there and then for each individual to send 1 copy to Jervis Johnson, 1 copy to the design team and 1 copy to the Director, get enough names and they have to take it seriously from a business IP and players POV.

At least thats what I want to do in about 4 weeks when I have some time again.

It does, there are a lot of things that need to be cleared up/don't make any sense. And just be glad your champions can take anything, Aspiring sorcerers are stuck pistol and force weapon, even eldar warlocks have more options then that! (I am seriously hoping it's a mistake, it seems odd that every other champion gets access to the armouy but for some reason Aspiring sorcerers can't.)

I'm thinking of taking a noise marine squad as support for my Thousand sons, and I was wondering what may be a good for him equipment wise, I was thinking lightning claw and some combi weapon of some kind, not sure about the doom siren as the squad would have sonic blasters and Blastmasters (?what can I say, I hate cover.)

You can use the Doom Siren during charge reactions which would be pretty nasty.

I've realised as well (I really should look at every option in the Dex) that the AC for a standard CSM squad starts with Bolter, BP and CCW. So in effect can end up with paired LC and Combi weapon if you wanted. But none of the Cult squads can. Fingers crossed for another FAQ soon.

I have given my champion a doom siren.

Been working on my custom noise marines (didn't like GWs efforts). Used bits from Khorne Berserkers, Greyknights, Warp Talons, Chaos Space Marines and standard Marines.

Actually, you can. When you buy any weapon, you get to choose which weapon you exchange. So, you exchange the bolter for the power weapon, and now you have a pistol plus power weapon, which gets you an extra attack. Sadly though, there is no way he can have a sonic blaster, which is very annoying.

It would of been asinine if they could have sonic weapons/cc/bolt pistol.

You would then...

Shoot 3 times a model on a unit running in, AND get 2 attacks a piece out of your guys. SO most of your unit would be making 5 attacks. Asinine.

You couldn't be more incorrect, sorry.

Noise Champ has Power Armour, Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades

Page 91: A model can replace his BOLT PISTOL and/or his CLOSE COMBAT WEAPON with one of the following...... etc.

he can replace the bolter with a plasma pistol, and his bolt pistol for a power weapon.

I know, this is stupid, as it invalidates the very kit that they just put out to upgrade the model to a champion, but what can you do?
