Nicodemus Dolorosus LPC 2013 WIP Thread

Recommended Posts

I, Nicodemus Dolorosus of the Blood Angels subforum, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least one Sanguinary Guard squad and 4 Death Company with jump packs on or before the 31st of March, 2013. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

I got excited and started work right away on these. Here is my first picture of the Sanguinary Guard Squad probably about 10-20% done -- assembled, based, and with the basecoat of Balthazar Gold and some purple on the shoulder pads. I think there is some of the first layer of Gehenna's Gold on a few of them, plus their right shoulder pads:

I will post another update over the weekend, since I have made more progress since taking these pictures (I took them the day that I intended to post my vow, which was the day that B&C went down for its upgrade).

And the Death Company mostly assembled:

hail there fellow Battle-Brother! great work on those Sanguinary Guard... love the reddish brass hue you have... is that drybrushing or washes? and love the other squad too... did you use the Death Company plastics as a base for those? nice work so far... will check back soon to see your progress and well done sir!

Thanks, brother. The reddish hold us the Citadel layer Gehenna's Gold right out of the pot without any mixing (over Balthazar Gold base). Perfect for Blood Angels!

The Death Company are made almost exclusively from the regular DC plastic box set. Only other bitz are a couple Sanguinary Guard heads and a spare bolter from the bitz box.

Thanks again, Kanan. Here is my progress as of last night:

The Sanguinary Guard on the far left is pretty much complete ... I rushed ahead on that one to make sure the paint scheme I had in mind worked, and I'm happy with the final outcome. The others' armour is now complete -- still a couple layers to go on scrolls, and need to do all the silver/metal stuff, leather belt pouches, and red. Probably about 75% done now and I hope to have them done by the end of the week. Then I'll be half done my vow!

Been a while, but I finally have an update: the Sanguinary Guard are finished! So I'm better than half way done my vow, since I'm certain the Death Company will paint up a LOT faster than the SG did. Anyway, here are some shots of the finished Sanguinary Guard:

And, finally, an update on the Death Company ... not too much, just primed, their eyes done, and started on their shoulder pads:
