THE GARREN WORLDS

500 years befor this present time, an Adeptus Astrites battle barge from the Warriors of Vengance descovered an 55 world system that had not been found during the great crusade. They reported their finding to the high lords of terra and then made planet fall. For the next 400 years the Garren world(named after thebattle barge 'Garens vengance') flourished. The agri worlds of this system on the edge of the segmuta pasificus produced 10 times the amount of food needed to feed the system, the forge world of Trashan became a makor naval centre and the Warriors of Vengance established a rectuting post there. However this was all going to change, a roge trader name Lithius Maxima, discovered 20 further planets to the galactic north west of the system, it seems they had been ingulfed in a warp storm that had only just subsided. All of the worlds had the potential to have giant amounts of menerals extracted from them. As the system expanded, the areas defences were streached thin, and when chaos attacked there was no way the onslaught could be stoped. The Warriors of Vengance disapeared to start a guerrila war against the forces of chaos, the system was over run. On all the captured planets, remnents of the PDF formed risistence cells, but all they could realy do was wait for the liberating crusade.

More fluff by me:

INQUISITORIAL REPORT 39574729108465738290.0

SUBJECT: THE GARREN WORLDS AND THE ADEPTUS ASTRITES ACTIVITY SUROUNDING THEM.

AUTHOR: INQUISITOR LORD OZRAK

My investigation into the presense of the Emperors Space Marines in this area has come up with the folowing conclusions.
The Garren Worls seems to be a great intrest to the Ordo Xenos, it seems that many xenos artifacts lie in this area, with the help of the marines aboard the battle ship, Valiant Retrebution. The Ordo Xenos has started a seires of attacks on world that may contain Xenos artifacts, I will investigate further.

It seems that chapter master, Aurelian of the Emperors Crusaders chapter, has obtaned permmision to launch a crusade-made up of entirly space marines- to recapture the area, the captain of the chapters 2nd company, Xerian, has assumed command of the crusade. Although he constantly referes to the other comanders for help in desision making. The crusade had not fully started yet but the primary attacks will begin in two days time. I have asked Captain Xerian to produce a list of chapters taking part in this crusade, shortly I will begin my investigations into the system, chapters involved and all other factors. With the help of other inquisitors, I will be able to help rid the system on the chaos taint.

INQUISITOR LORD OZRAK

Some more fluff, this is by Angle of Darkness:

Angel's talons:

The Angel's talons are a chapter created at the time of the fifth founding on the order of the High Lords. They use the raven guard geneseed, which was checked thoroughly by the genetors of the Adeptus Mechanicus for any flaw, but was found to be perfect, apart from the minor aesthetic flaw causing the hair to grow black and the skin white. This was not seen as too much of a problem at the time, and the chapter was founded.
They are based in a spaceborne fortress-monastery rather than a planet, although they recruit mostly from worlds near to Cadia for reasons unknown. One effect that this has is that there is a high level of psyker incidence in aspirants, making the Librarium of the chapter very powerful.
Because of this, they were under scrutiny for some time from the Ordos Malleus and Hereticus, although, as yet, nothing untoward has come from the numbers of psykers.
It was not long after the chapter was founded that one of their greatest tests fell upon them. Trardius, the main planet from which they now recruit, was once prosperous and beautiful, a verdant planet full of life. The arrival of chaos changed this.
A huge warpstorm cut the planet off from contact with the rest of the Imperium, preventing them from evacuating any of the civilians present. Their true peril was not realised until a huge, corrupted fleet appeared, attacking without mercy.
The planet was subjected to an almost constant bombardment from orbit, lasting the equivalent of a month. Day and night, all the inhabitants could do was find what meagre shelter they could and hide, forced to run like animals as destructive energies raced down from above. This was not to last, as once the traitors judged that they had bombarded the planet for long enough, he dropped his finest assault troops onto the planet. Every living thing not hidden away underground was butchered, their mangled corpses trodden into the ground as the corrupted marines raced over the planet, ransacking anything intact and hunting for the hidden civilians. They were unsuccessful, as many of the civilians had at least some military training, and were able to form an effective guerrilla force, attacking from loopholes and taking down at least twenty marines over the course of the storm - something of an achievement for untrained humans.
Eventually, the warp storm dissipated, allowing the Imperium to contact Trardius. When they did, they were shocked to find the planet overrun with Chaos marines, and the first space marine chapter they were able to contact was dispatched immediately to the planet. This chapter was the Angel’s
Talons.
They fell upon the planet with unbridled ferocity, attacking perfectly and with such speed that their enemies could not respond. Strategic targets were wiped away as the new chapter fought against the traitors, slaughtering them wherever the corrupted marines could be found. It did not take long before the presence of the chaos marines was completely wiped from the planet, the Angel’s talons destroying both their spaceborne presence and their ground forces with ease. They were venerated by many for their victory over the chaos forces, and made something of a name for themselves in successful campaigns subsequent to this.
During the 40th millennium, however, disaster struck the chapter. In a precursor to Abaddon's 13th black crusade, a comparatively large force of renegade traitor marines, mostly of the Iron Warriors legion, came out of the eye of terror and attacked the nearby planets. The Angel's talons were quick to react to this, and sent their 2nd and 3rd companies in to fight.
Unfortunately, many of the traitors slipped away, and the Angel's talons were left fighting, mostly, bloodthirsty World Eaters, who had stayed around the eye of terror due to their need to fight. However, they were comprised of a few warbands, and after some time, the two companies of the Angel's talons managed to defeat their enemies.
They returned to their fortress monastery to find it almost destroyed in ship battles with the Iron Warriors. The surviving members of the chapter were on a nearby planet, entrenched in warfare with the traitorous marines. They were, slowly but surely, being annihilated by the superior firepower of their enemies.
The captain of the 2nd company was all for assaulting the Iron Warriors en masse at the back of their lines, hoping to break through and rejoin the rest of their chapter. However, the more level-headed 3rd company captain counselled against this with the aid of his librarians. They said that the best way would be to infiltrate the traitor's camps, spread havoc, and leave quickly. They could fight a guerrilla war which would allow the rest of their chapter some respite, and would leave the Iron Warriors unable to muster a significant force.
After lengthy discussion, the 2nd company agreed to this, and the brethren most suited to infiltration were sent to the planet, along with many veterans to aid them when it came to fighting. Their task, while hard at first, was a success; they paid tribute to the memory of their primarch with their skills at sabotage and stealth, destroying most of that which the Iron Warriors held dear - their heavy vehicles. Soon, only a few decades after the two companies set out to defeat the forces of chaos at the eye of terror, the guns of the traitors were ceased altogether, and the two companies finally submitted to the 2nd company captain's plan, assaulting the back of the traitor's lines at the same time as those of the chapter attacked at the front. It is said that not a single Iron Warrior survived; this is false, however, as they are kept in dungeons on that planet, and questioned occasionally. But none escaped.
It was not just the scouts of the chapter that proved themselves in that battle. It was the Librarians. They fought harder than their brothers physically, even while daemons of the warp attacked their minds. The huge chaotic presence was torture for the chapter's psykers, but they held fast to their faith in the emperor and fought on. The chaotic sorcerors of the Iron warriors were no match once they met in combat.
The war with the traitors was to have a lasting effect on the chapter. The traitors had destroyed their heavy vehicles first, and thus, the chapter had been left with almost no tanks. However, this simply enhanced the skills they had taught before, such as infiltration and close combat - sneaking through enemy lines could hardly be done with a land raider behind them, after all.
The scouts and the librarians were venerated after the battle, as it was they who saved what was left of the chapter - three companies, not counting the 2nd and 3rd. Soon, even veterans became adept at infiltrating.
When they finally returned to the Imperium as a whole, they were still treated with suspicion by many inquisitors, but after some time, in which many had observed them in battle, those who had fought with them knew not to doubt them. In the words of Inquisitor Lord Coteaz, "These warriors are indeed untrustworthy. They cannot be trusted not to defend the Imperium. They cannot be trusted not to destroy their enemy. And they cannot be trusted not to be tainted."
This chapter does not follow the Codex Astartes in most of its strictures, as they feel that adapting to a combat situation, and manipulating it to the point at which they are able to face their enemy in an assault, is far more tactically beneficient to them than following a book which may not contain information concerning new structures. To this end, they equip their forces with weapons such as assault cannons, meltaguns, powerfists and lightning claws, all of which are abundant in this chapter.

cheers

i added my chapter, the emperor's pain to the link above.

see you at the table.

My Lord Inquisitor, the Crusade Fleet Fenrir sent by Chapter Master Sidus has arrived on the outskirts of the Garren System. As per your orders, we await the arrival of your contribution of Navel vessels, They will be needed in the up-coming battles. With the Addition of the single Battle Barge, five Strike Crusiers, four Hunter Class Destroyers, three Gladius Class Frigates, and two Nova Class Frigates, aswell as the various transports with supplies. Our numbers, although originally small due to the Alastor system defence, our numbers have grown thanks to you, and we shall teach the enemy what true fear is like.

We now have three Battle Barges, eight Strike Cruisers, eight Hunter Class Destroyers, five Gladius Class Frigates, and five Nova Class Frigates. Chapter Master Sidus has spared two hundred of his finest Marines, and a quater of his armoured division for this operation.

Though i am ashamed to say, the presence of both the Guardians Librarian and Chaplain is abit unnerving, it seems that the seriousness of the Garren World Crusade is far more important than anyone truely knows. Our scans have confirmed the pressence of various other fleets, both Imperial and heretic alike, the Garren system is litered with depree from previous battle, making some communications troublesome, we have yet been able to make contact with any other Imperial Ships, but will continue to try in an effort to grasp a handle on the situation.

I will redouble my own efforts both in prayer and leadership, to compinsate for my nerviousness about this crusade.

I await your reply,

May the Emperor watch over us all.

Master of the Fleet, Markus.

Okay, I posted the IA on the website so graciously provided for us. BUt, one problem... I missed the Chapter Colors/Heraldry field, and it won't let me edit... Keeps saying the E-Mail address doesn't match, when I took it from the clipboard both times o.O

Anyway, it's up there, albeit minorly incomplete.

Our forces currently hold position on the edge of the Garren system near our insertion point from the warp and we will move in shortly to rendevous with other astartes forces.

I look forward to meeting you in person to discuss the orders of my battlegroup and take the fight to these vile traitors.

+++ Thought for the Day: It is better to be crippled in body, Than corrupt in mind. +++

Estemed Commanders, I welcome your support, it will be much needed if we are to succeed in such a damned place as the Garren system. Epistolary Terrem has graciously asked for an audiance with us, this is something i agree with, and will honor this request, Something i hope the rest of you will be able to attend.

The Crusade Fleet Fenrir will remain where it is, just outside of the Garren system, untill it rendezvous with its support fleet, given to us by the Lord Inquisitor Xenthor of the Ordo Xenos, which will arrive in three days time. I shall take my Strike Cruiser, the Emperor's Right Hand and meet with the Valiant Retribution.

I must recommend that we all take special care in searching our fleets for any signs of taint, with this many traitors gathering in any single place, there must be a bigger, more evil presence behind it. Be diligent in your searches, leave no one un checked.

Untill we meet,

Keep your faith in the Emperor as your sheild.

Master of Sanctity Castus
