Plastic Grey Knight Conversion

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been wanting to do a Grey Knights army for ages (ever since they came out actually) but I was always a little dissatisfied with the metal Grey Knights in Power Armour. I have been 'saving' a load of parts for a while, and I have now come up with this as a replacement.

Still needs some green stuff work (chapter symbol mainly), and his force weapon finished. but I should have enough parts to do 2 x 6 man squads.

I may go on to crate a whole 'plastic' Grey Knights army, ready for the summer campaign.

Cheers

That's quite nice although do you have enough parts to make a whole army of them?

Just a few suggestions though if you want to make it closer to the grey knight models...

Maybe you can trim down the stormbolter and attach it to the wrist? Or maybe use 2 bolt pistols with some green stuff to make a small stormbolter that would with the arm better? I'm just a fan on the wrist-mounted stormbolters.

Also, you may be able to make gk helmets with normal sm helmets and make the face plates out of plasticard or gs.

I really like the symbols around the armour though. Keep it up.

Thanks for the comments guys,

Here is a parts run down.

Legs - Basic marine legs

Torso - Plastic Champion

Head - Plastic Champion

Arms - Standard marine (cut & re-glued)

L/H pad - Chaos maruder

R/H pad - Plastic Deathwatch with symbol filed of and Terminator 'mini shield' glued to the front.

Leg Armour - C/C Terminator 'groin guards'

Various purity seals

I have enough parts to do 2 squads of 6 at the mo, thats enough for a starting force.

Some of them are gonna have axes, swords and Hammers, just for a bit of variety

I am not a big fan of the wrist mounted 'strom bolter' on Power armour, thats why they have the normal version

Cheers

That is an absolutely wonderful conversion, and, were I to have all of the appropriate pieces, I would convert an entire unit of these guys.

Fabulous job!

Damn, now I want to start a Grey Knights army too.

The only thing stopping me before was the power armoured GKs looked a bit naff to me, now I've got no excuse  , well except for the massive cost, but that never stopped me before.

WOW, thanks again guys, I never new that my figure would be this much of an inspiration !!

Do any of you have a link to 'Jakob Nielsons' site, he has a nice 'metal' tutorial on there, or so I am told.

With regard to the 'Not being able to hold a staff' - He could always use the 'shoulder strap' for the bolter !!

I have another 2 made, but they are sprayed black, so they would not show up that well.

Wow! you mind if i steal the basic concept of this? With the new black templar bits and the ability to order sprues singly(with some help from staff friends too :P ), this project could be turned into something not all too expensive.

By the way, are you going to do terminators too? if so are they gonna be the normal ones or the knightified plastic terminators?

I must admit that the stock grey knights can be some rather dull minis.

This is similar to what I did. I needed to bulk out a quantity of GK marines (to turn one and a half squads into 2 full strength squads), and as I had a few BT torsos in the bits box, I put them together and teamed with the champion helm (SM cmd sqd set) and a couple of the similar BT helms, they seem to have come out ok. Mind you, sculpting the robes for my termi BCs was a bit harder, but there's only a couple of them, so they won't stick out so much).
