I can get to my camera till Thusday but I'd like to put ion my Fluff tongue.gif

Renit the Blood-Stained- Captain of the of the 3rd company of The Relentless Wolves(Traitor)

In 842.M40 Renit's chapter declared succesion from the Imperium due to a depocial
wiping out 3 of the chapters Battle Company's. While defending a planet in the Sagittarius arm from a invasion of Tyranid, after months of combat and heavy losses for the Imperium the Inquistion ordered Extreminatus of the planet and excuted it while the space marines where still fighting on the planet. Today five companies of the once noble chapter still assumed to exist on the fringes of the Ocularis Terribus. Recentally reports have risen in the area of Antioc of a warrior in black, branding the seal of the Relentless Wovles. However since there have been no survivors it cannot be confirmed that he exists at all.

War-gear: Bolt pistol, Power weapon, Combat shield, Admantium mantle, Krak grenades and Auspex (had 4 spare points tongue.gif) Renit Comes out as 110 exactly.

Why would I need a combat sheild, I have an iron halo.
As it is i'd need an exta point to afford any thing truely usefull if I dropped both grenades.
Can I add bionics and melta bombs?

+++ Mod Edit - D'oh! Brainfade on the Combat shield. rolleyes.gif Bionics and Meltabombs added to your entry in the submission summary post, but for completeness be sure to make the changes in your original submission post. - Aurelius. +++

I'll add 'Bionics' msn-wink.gif This is one Blood Raven who will not go down easy.....

+++Mod Edit - I have updated your entry in the summary post to include bionics. I won't think bad of seeing Lucius back in the next AoD as long as he survives this one... If he 'resurrects' again and returns to the Legio I suspect he will be spending the rest of his days in the Inquisitorial interrogation chambers being asked very 'pointed' questions about witchcraft and the like. laugh.gif - Aurelius. +++

just a few more hours now and I will have the new version of Ferrum online, but before that I have a question:
Can I put into his background that he was present at Medusa V as part of a Legio Killteam and that this is where he was promoted to sergeant, or would that fall outside the timeframe for this AoD?

Thanks!

Hmm... I suspect that there would not have been time for his Legio company to redeploy to Medusa V between the events of Legio Counterstrike and Crusade for Antioc. Although a year has elapsed between them appearing on the board, and 'Antioc' happening just after 'Medusa', in the 40k timeline there is probably only a few months between Counterstrike and Antioc.

So short, less confusing answer is that he would not have been able to make it to Medusa V.

Looking forward to the new background, though. smile.gif

Yes the model has a interchangeable head / helmet.

BACKGROUND:
------------------
Ferrum is a veteran from the Guardian Angels Chapter, formerly serving with 6th Company in the Maelstrom sector.
With 6th Company he had plenty of experience with boarding actions and naval warfare while guarding shipping lanes and fighting against Pirates like Dark Eldar, Orks, and Red Corsairs.
Ferrum earned an honour medal and his crux during a particularly vicious battle in the Fourth Quadrant War that was fought against the Tyrant of Badab.
During this battle, almost half of 6th Company laid down their lives for the Pax Imperialis, and Ferrum was one of the hard fighting Marines that showed extraordinary, resilience, strength and courage on the front lines.

In his many battles, Ferrum has been renowned for his finesse and acrobatics in close combat, and his skill has kept growing over the years. – He still fights with the same Chainsword he used those long years ago, while fighting what was to become the Red Corsairs.

Like any other former member of the Guardian Angels, he is well trained in medicine, technology and science, and also insists on special care for security around psychers. - Still, where his real passion lies, is with the Bolter and Chainsword.

Due to what happened to his Company many years ago, he harbours a special hatred for the Red Corsairs and once he was promoted as a veteran of the Guardian Angels 1st Company, he applied for service with the Legio B&C so he could keep going after the Corsairs constantly.

During his service with the Legio, Ferrum volunteered for the B&C's raid against a hidden base of the Chaos Lord Tomax Hell, and was one of the honoured Marines that helped take that enemy stronghold down. - But victory came at a steep price!
Almost all the Legio Marines that went into the base, submitted their bodies to take it apart, and Ferrum was no different.

During his war torn journey through the labyrinth-like maze of the enemy-infested asteroid base, Ferrum ran afoul of a double dealing deceiver of a Marine, later identified as a traitor Astarte known only as Alpharius.
The battle between them raged from sound tactics through barbaric rage and desolation.
In the end, Ferrum fell; his leg pierced through by a power sword and his body cleaved near in two at the chest. - His left arm was rendered useless as the power sword of the enemy severed nerves, muscle and sinew. - His left primary lung was torn, his chest plate raptured and as he lay there dying, his lungs full of blood, the enemy stole his helmet, tore apart his chest-armour and defiled him horribly by carving a large, bloody A into his chest.

On that day, Ferrum laid his life on the line and was almost taken to sit by the Emperors right side; but as fate would have it, he would not be granted an audience that easy.

As Ferrum lay there dying, the Honorary Legio Brother "Fautor" came upon him and was able to stabilize Ferrum's deteriorating condition with the med-kits they carried.
Ferrum himself, using his Guardian Angels medical training, was with great effort able to walk Fautor through the necessary steps to stabilize his critical condition; after which time he went into the comatose state of suspended animation.

He was carried out of the enemy base by Fautor as the base fell apart and exploded around them. They reached their escape shuttle in the nick of time and blasted off while the base crumbled below. - Through the efforts of Honoured Brother Marine Fautor, Ferrum lived, albeit horribly wounded.

It was close to two weeks before he was awakened again, this time floating in the oily, thick liquid of a medical vat chamber.
Floating specks of memory is all he has from these moments. - White coats in white rooms; liquid and blurred; long needles, sharp pain and senseless periods of drug induced surrealism.

The Legio even reached out to the Guardian Angels for medical advice and gene-seed information in these days, and the courageous Marine's Chapter-of-Origin helped as well as they knew how, including sending him a bionic left arm.

Eventually Ferrum was awoken by the rhythmic beeps of dual heart monitors and when he opened his eyes and returned to the galaxy once more, the first thing that greeted him was a white roof, a soft bed and the smiles of many concerned Legio Brothers; his dear friend Fautor smiling broader and prouder than all.

A few days later Ferrum was already in full recovery, training hard to get back in shape.
Since then he has kept training every aspect of his being, while meditating heavily to come to terms with his own failings.
Under guidance of medical personnel and the spiritual leadership of the Chaplains, he has carved the stylized A from his chest, and today a chest sized mark of the Aquila has taken its place as both a sculpted scar and tattoo.

The wounds of Durus Quatinus Ferrum are now all healed, but his armour has been replaced with another from his parent Chapter.
His Ultima Pattern m.40 a.s.l. Bolter (Zoe) still remains with him, as does his trusty Chainsword (Acer Mucroonis).

Ferrum's dexterity and acrobatics in battle have not lessened notably due to his wounds, but he has still to come fully to terms with his near senseless bionic arm.

Due to his incredible resolve to keep living and fighting for the Imperium; his intense search for perfection and due to his silent, cold-logical manner; Ferrum was awarded with the "Valoris Imperator" after the mission code-named "Legio Counterstrike" and has now been promoted to the status of Sergeant within Legio B&C's "Light of the Emperor" Great Company.

The members of his squad "Nexum" are loyal to the core and like their leader, they have taken to a logical mannerism and search for perfection in all things martial.
Now, after months of training they read and support each-other perfectly; their unit acting as of one mind.
Upon reaching Antioc Sergeant Ferrum and his men are ready for battle and eager to go behind enemy lines...

The "CPN" On his knee stands for "Capitulus Patria Nostra" - The Guardian Angels motto. = "The Chapter our Fatherland" - meaning something like: Wherever we go, we bring the might of the Imperium, and the Imperium is our home, thus wherever we go, we are home.

His sword (Acer Mucroonis) also has writing on it:
"Lux et Veritas" - "Light and Truth" - In a way summarising both his Chapter-of-origin and his "Light of the Emperor" Great Company.
His sword also has the writing "Imperator Defendo", "The Emperor Protects" on it, which in a way has become his personal slogan.

(I had to take "chosen by fate" given what happened to this Character in the last AoD biggrin.gif )

GrayMantle.. Nice stuff.

Alpharius died unfortunately.. there no coming back from having no head.

However, one of his puppets, an insane corrupted X loyalist marine GodMode, fights in this Aod. He's a the opposite Alpharius and only believes in honor. Perhaps Ferrum and him will fight this Aod.

Nice model BTW.

Updated build-up fluff for my AoD char.

A few days ago Augustus had been asked to be the represenative of the Ultramarines during the Antioc crusade. Lord Calgar had asked him to lead elements of the 3rd company in support of the Leigo assault of the planet. Immediately he requested permission to enlist in the leigo so that he could be on the ground from the begining. Lord Calgar infromed him that the decission would be up to the Captain commanding a Scion of Dorn by the name of Golgotha. "When will the strike force be ready my lord?" asked the anxious captain. "They await your arrival captain I would suggest you leave as soon as possible." Augustus saluted his commander before leaving to the armoury to aquire his personal affects.

+cut to 3 weeks later+

The mechanical rasp of a servittor spoke out on the quite bridge of the Sword of Hera, "Captain we have established contact with Captain Golgotha." Augustus nodded and motioned to put him on the holo-pict. "Captian Nell, Its good to see you arrived ahead of schedual and in good condition, what is it you need from me?" Augustus cleared his throat before speaking, "Captain, I request to participate in the initial legio strike on the planet." Augustus took a pause before continuing, "If possible I would like to take a terminator team to the surface and lead the attacks on the orbital defense network power grids." Before Golgotha could continue Augustus once again cut him off, "At the moment I have a few duties to attend to to prepare the company incase your decision is disinclined to my request." Golgotha began to wear a stern look on his face.

Augustus could see the former Scion was not used to such a forward manner of speaking from someone hed never met before. quickly remembering his place Augustus spoke softly, "My apologies commander, I am used to being the one giving out orders, please forgive my rudeness but I do have other matters to attend to." Golgotha took a moment to think before continuing. What a character so forward and commanding albeit with a tendency to come off as rude and arrogant. "Allow me some time to think Captain, feel free to attend to your duties and expect my response within the hour." With that the holo-feed shut down and Augstus sat up from his command chair and moved to the ships chapel to meet with chaplain camillus for evening prayers with his men.

Thats some awesome Photoshopping Greymantle!

Thanks Hasoroth! smile.gif
There's not really all that much PS work though, just cropped the images a bit, changed the floor and added some lights in the main image.

Thanks! smile.gif
Alpharius is gone, but if the multimind of the Emperor (forum members) be willing, I'm sure there will be a Ferrum vs. GodMode battle.
The characters aren't likely to know the connection though of course, but the laughing, thirsting gods will msn-wink.gif

There has been some good frater AoD background developing in the last few days - just the kind of collaborative work that can work brilliantly. Examples of character interaction between characters on the same side, and even on different sides with a shared narrative have deeply improved previous AoD's, with Greymantle, Molotov, Yogi and Plague Beast notably in discussion for their respective backstories in Legio Counterstrike, and even Joker, Several Concerned Cricketers and myself (while we were all still frater) and others working on a strongly inter-woven story in the Divine Hunter AoD. It involved the first appearance of Joker's Tomax Hell, SCC's Rhadamanthys, and my doomed Captain Euripides and Inquisitor Embeth Holst, who also turned up in Legio Counterstrike and might also be aboard the Imperial fleet. msn-wink.gif There is a handy link to it here...

So the idea of people writing their own fiction around their characters and the events of Antioc is something that is to be welcomed. The obvious rider to this is to respect the usual boundaries of collaborative fiction, don't step on any active plotlines or forcing the hand of other characters, and don't introduce things like blowing up the planet or killing the non-player characters. It is remarkable what plotlines and rivalries you can build up just between players without derailing the Antioc train.

All this convolutedly brings me to how do you ensure that grudge matches can be set up, and how it is decided who fights whom in each battle.

The veterans will remember the polls. Each day, polls will be put up here in Amicus to decide which traitor and which loyalist will fight in the upcoming battle, and at the end of the 24 hours or so we will have the answer. Obviously the side that is best coordinated in their voting will have a big advantage in this, especially during environmental effects battles... but this will all become clear. Tubal was instrumental in planning a highly effective traitor voting campaign last time, which took a lot of effort for the loyalists to counter, and there is usually disarray during the first few battles until the sides get coordinated. Hint: The side to get their act together first has a big advantage.

So a good grudge match can be put together and the players forced into a battle together if they can convince their respective strategic planners... but there is another way... the Death or Glory matches:

Death or Glory Battles

Death or Glory battles are a new innovation for this Arena of Death – Two against one battles!

Do you have the guts to volunteer to face two opponents at once in the Arena of Death? True, you will be outnumbered, but you will have a number of juicy advantages, such as being able to 1) select one of your two opponents and fix a favourable matchup or force a grudge-match, 2) shrug off killing blows on 4+ and returning with 1 wound to represent dogged determination, heroic resilience or the preparedness of a great defensive position.

If you beat both your opponents then on top of the insane bragging rights you will receive a single ‘Golden Reroll’ in each of your future battles that can either be used to reroll a single dice roll or auto-pass a d6 test before the dice is rolled. This represents your Death or Glory achievements catching the eye of The Emperor / The Ruinous Powers and marking you out for greatness. devil.gif

No-one is pretending it will be easy, or even fair, but anyone who succeeds in winning against such odds will instantly become the most feared competitor in the AoD with a concrete advantage in future rounds. It is the stuff that legends are made of...

At the start of each round with a Death or Glory match I will ask for volunteers to be the heroic underdog – first come, first served. If there are not enough volunteers it will go out to the polls as usual, but of course everyone knows the dice gods favour the bold.

So… Do you have the guts to go for Death or Glory?

Explorator Forb:

Forb, Adeptus Mechanicus techpriest (Tech-marine)
Servo-arm, Power Weapon, Signum (free)
Bolt pistol, Bionics, Iron Halo, Frag and Krak grenades
= 109 pts

The image is only a little paintshopped msn-wink.gif
Fluff isn't ready yet, but the short version is: He's a part of an explorator fleet, sent ahead on the fastest ship they have available as soon as news of the assault was received. His master doesn't exactly hang around Terra (or Mars), so he's been a bit out of touch.
He leads a large force of servitors with a small command staff of techpriests.

+++ Mod Edit - Character submission summary updated - Aurelius +++

Edit++ Fluff Added:
"You must go; my work here cannot be delayed. It is too important"
"And the reclaiming of a lost forgeworld is not, master?"
"It is, which is why I’m sending my most trusted advisor. Your mind is more suited to these practical matters than my own. It has a certain flexibility that I lack"

As a sanctioned ab-human in the service of the machine god, Forb's undoubted skill in the arcane arts was tempered by his inability to dedicate himself completely to the Quest for Knowledge. However, the destruction of his homeworld has removed any remaining ties to his old life, and has allowed him to dedicate himself fully. The last few decades have seen him rise through the ranks to become a senior Cyberneticist, and eventually Explorator.

Since his mission to Antioch began he has avoided direct contact with the other invasion forces, prefering to communicate through proxies and radio links. He fears that his origins could provoke the more extreme of the inquisitors and astartes to unwise actions.

Quick question about Inquisitors. Is it permissable to buy henchmen but not actually use them (aside from the stat bonus)?

Assuming not. . .

Lord Inquisitor Maxim Atrich

Anointed Power Sword, Bolt Pistol, Icon of the Just, Sacred Incense, Frag Grenades, Parry

Pic can be found here

Charged with the discovery and destruction of the daemonic wherever it may be found, Inquisitor Atrich is zealous even amongst the Ordo Malleus. It is his sacred duty, and his satisfaction to hunt and purge those who would conspire with the Ruinous Powers and their physical manifestation; the Daemon. He is staunchly puritan in his methods, knowing that to falter in the Emperor's service is the doom of humanity. Bane of the Inquisition’s holy mission to defend mankind, so called Radical Inquisitors represent the deadly threat of those who would dabble in the chaotic. Such heretics must not be tolerated, lest their taint subvert the sanctity of mankind's hidden defenders. Ironically Maxim is an ideological radical, following the Thorian path that will one day see the Emperor restored as the master of humanity.

Still a young man, Maxim takes a hands on approach in his defense of the Imperium prefering to fight the enemies of the Emperor face to face, blade on blade, though his zeal is backed by keen intelligence, courage and knowledge of how to achieve his ends. Maxim was only narrowly saved from death during his recent purge of the Temple of Horus on Fevaris when he was betrayed by radical Inquisitor Marthalus Varjan who stole whatever tainted relic resided within the deepest crypts as Maxim and his retinue battled the Daemon Prince Balthonius above. Vengeance he has swon, will be served.

+++ Mod Edit - Character added to the submission summary post. On the henchmen thing, you can't buy them to boost the Inquisitor's stats, but they can appear in the background story. The more we know about them, the easier and more fulfilling it will be to write and read the batrep when the time comes. smile.gif - Aurelius. +++

Chapter Name:Black Templars

Sigrat emerged from behind the rock, taking in the shattered plain around him. Keeping his senses fully alert on his surrondings, he consulted his helmet's stats. Armour was functioning at only 45%. Grimacing, he turned his attention back to the area, covered by thick fog. He knew there was someone out there. Now was a patience game. The sargeant checked his weapons. The power sword in his left felt light compared to the weight of the combi-melta in his right but he knew which would be more useful in this environment. Catching a blur of movement in the corner of his eye, he spun round just in time to catch the attackers blade on his sword. Using the bulk of his gun as a shield, he caught the 2nd attack on it. For the first time, he caught sight of his attackers face. The other marines eyes were wide and blood shot. The rest of his armour bore the markings of the Night Lord Legion. Sigrat pushed the other marine back and swiped at him with his sword. The Night Lord ducked under it with ease. However, that brought him down to the level of the melta. With a despairing howl, the attackers head exploded as the heat of a sun concentrated into a beam was applied. Sigrat stood still for a second before blacking out.
++
Sigrat awoke in the cradle. He had been in similar ones all his life. Every Sublimator spent many days a week in such machines, training to perfection. This had been an easier scenario compared to the ones he had faced but still required skill and awareness. A hand helped him climb out. The familiar face of Corvan greeted him.
"How did it go?" he asked.
"Well enough," replied Sigrat. The 2 of them left the servitors tending to the machine, the gift of the Sublimators to the Legio. They walked back to their quarters in companiable silence. The 2 of them had served together in the Legio and had similar personalities. Corvan was from the Gryphon Guard chapter, of which Sigrat had heard nothing of before coming here but judging by Corvan, was a strong chapter indeed. He was currently a member of Sigrat's Kill-team but he was very close to earning his own squad to command.

The 2 kept little from each other but Sigrat was hiding something. He had additional duties on Antioc other than the Legio's. His own chapter and 11 others had sworn bonds of brothership and purity with each other. One had broken that vow and was now hunted by the others. The Hands of Hashut were the traitors and most of them had been killed by the terrible retribution of the other 11 and the forces of the Holy Inquisition. However a number of them had escaped. Most of them now hid in the Maelstorm but a few had split from the main force. And where else would they go than Antioc, the biggest gathering of traitorous scum since Abbadons 13th Black Crusade. If there was such a marine on Antioc, Sigrat was to kill him, using any means neccesary. The chapter also had strong links to the Dark Mechanicus and so Sigrat was to try to get any information from those adepts about any Hands of Hashut that they knew about. Luckily, Sigrat's mission was in the Forges of Antioc. Now he just had to wait.....

I just noticed that you have listed my character at 102 pts Aurelius Rex, while I have listed it at 107 pts.
I guess this means I've miss-calculated somewhere, so with 8 points to spare I would like to add Purity Seals and an Auspex to better show Ferrum's status as a Sergeant and maybe even up his squads chances of survival.
If I get a go on this I will add said equipment to the model and put up some more images today.
This should then bring the character to 109 pts. - 110 if you count the ccw he has which as I understand it wont have an effect in the AoD.
Character entry:

Thanks!

+++ Mod Edit - The cost difference was due to not needing to pay to be a DW vet... you only paid for the ammo. msn-wink.gif Purity seals and auspex added. Don't worry about the bayonette / CCW. It might make an appearance in the batrep, but you will indeed get all the game benefit you need from the chainsword. - Aurelius. +++
