  1. I used to run scout snipers as objective baby sitters way back in 4th and 5th. Back then they also wounded monstrous creatures on 4's though and rending could make them quite nasty. Currently I dont feel sniper scouts are worth it though, other units outshine them in that regard. Intercessors when parked in cover have a 2+ AS as well and with bolter dicipline they can dish out some nice firepower at 30 inches. Having 2 wounds and attacks a piece also means they outshine scouts in survivabilty and punch in combat as well. And when you are done outfitting the scouts with cloaks, missle launcher and snipers a full squad is actually more expensive then the Intercessors are So uh....yeah. For sitting on a home objective I dont see them beeing that valuable anymore. Now, if you were to infilitrate them ontop of an objective thats in the middle of the field, thats another story. I feel bolters or bolt pistol and ccw is the way to go for them now. You can still add the cloaks to make them annoying to deal with but I feel as a firebase other units do it better. Maybe they could be used to run up a flank and be a nuisance I guess? Aside from the 4+ AS they are still marines in stats. Could tie down units that your opponent would rather have shooting at our elite units
  2. RAS have been a staple for my army for a pretty long while. Havent played any major games in this edition yet but they feel like lack a punch tbh. Mind you not much has changed about their load out or gear so its probably mostly in my head. I do like that the powersword is so cheap now, as it used to be take a powerfist or a bare sargeant, there was no other option basicly. You dident have much other options Has anyone tried out eviscerators? I find it hilarious that aside from the sargeant you can have 2 guys with special weapons (pistols, plasma/melta etc) and 2 with eviscerators. Mind you they are only 1A models but on the charge (or when getting charged) you get 2 S8 +1 to wound characters with -4AP. If you have a 10 man squad with sargeant with powersword and plasmapistol, 2 plasmaguns, 2 eviscerators you have a pretty versatile squad. Sounds like something that will tear a chunk out of things like knights pretty easily on a good turn. Theyre abit more expensive with this setup mind you and far from the perfect choice for all these shiney upgrades; but maybe worth some experimentation? If anything you can use them as throw-away units alot easier then our more elite assault units ;)
  3. Ive got a squad of all 3 :D one for close combat chopiness, one for sniping and one for fire support. Tend to only use a small ccw squad and the snipers though.
  4. Oh woah, some of these things I missed were fairly obvious :| Thanks for clearing it up brothers! Im abit salty for losing transport capacity on my dread but I guess il live
  5. Hail brothers! Ive been looking to get back into 40k and the last game I had was at the start of 7th. Needless to say something have changed... Im confused about a few things and il love some help with it as I cant seem to find the anwser myself.... 1: I recently got my blood angel codex. Drop pods cant transport deadnoughts anymore? 2: How does fighting work? I seem to recall reading that they can use all the weapons that your models have, even firing at different targets if you want. But ive heard locally that youre supposed to split your attacks in melee between the weapons that you got, but I cant find a rule that confirms this? Or am I just reading over it? 3: command points. Im joining a tourney soon (to get back into a hobby in a spectacular fashion ) and the rulepacks says 'you get the standard 3 CP's for your army'. But I cant for the life of me where this rule is stated. Do you always get 3 CP's? Ive only seen formations that give you CP's if you meet the minimal requirements.... 4: Using rules from the index vs the rulebook. Ive heard this from alot of sources but cant find where its stated. To give 1 example, I want to take a sanguinary priest, but my codex doesent have options for him to take these. If the unit entry did have options in the index (which it does) I can use those so long as I pay for the point costs of the upgrades in my codex. Where is this ruling located? I cant find it and I dont want to make a tournament invalid unit so hence why im asking so intensely.... 5: Transports. I cant for the life of me find how you get these now. They have point costs and everything but units no longer allow you to bring a transport along. Do you just buy them as seperate units now? Is a dedicated transport even still a thing? 6: Deepstriking. Im confused about the mechanic abit (maybe because I played previous editions for so long....) can you just shoot and assault with deepstriking units now? The rule doesent seem to forbid it.It just restricts where you setup. 7: How does charging and retreating work? Do you just move your unit to within 1 inch in the movement phase? How does retreating work? Do you literally just casually stroll out of combat? Because that seems....weird to me. 8: Strategems. Exacly when do you determine how to use these? I noticed some are used before the battle (so army selection) while others seem to have specific triggers. But do you to go like 'aha, you activated my trap card. im using X CP's to do Y' when it is in response to an enemy? So in essence youd have to halt the game for it abit? Because im abit afraid it gets abused to pull people out of their game 9: Wound calculations. How do wounds transfer to other models (or you know, not travel to other models)? Ive noticed that some weapons (notably heavy ones) do D6 or some such variable damage numbers. Can these wounds transfer to other models or can you max kill 1 model with these? If so, when do you roll for saves? Before or after deciding how much wounds they cause. I guess im asking which order is valid: a: you roll to wound. If you succesfully wound you roll for the amount of wounds and then the one getting shot at rolls saves for that many wounds. OR b: You roll to wound. If you wound your opponent rolls his save. If he fails you then see how many wounds you cause. I think these questions can be anwsered by (re)reading the rulebook abit more but ive tried like 3 times now. I cant find the anwsers to these
  6. Most Eldar units (sans the wraiths) also dont take to well to beeing hit in the face. Or rather the last time I played (was in 7th mind you, but still :P ) Are they still T3 and S3? Because if so gunning them down might be the safest option while keeping the anti tank for the grav tanks and knights that they might take. I third the Scout option. Always had a soft spot for them and compared to alot of power amoured unis they out-perform them on some areas. Or to be more specific, units like dark reapers or banshees dont gain to much when they target a scout unit vs a power armoured unit. They are cheaper, are hit and wounded on the same rolls and only armour is worse really.A strong base of scouts against the pointy ears might not be a bad idea!
  7. Anyone who tries this HAS to have MC hammer's you cant touch this on his phone. STOP, HAMMER TIME!
  8. Worth it though if you can turn a deamon primarch into a red fine mist
  9. Thats how I read it as well. It clearly mentions keywords. It says nothing about unit entries or models.
  10. Ah, seems im not the only one who dident really like them then? I did make a new assault sargeant (on foot) with a back banner and gotta say he looks pretty damn fancy :) (and a HUGE target but thats besides the point :P) I kinda want to add them now to add some variety and personal touches to each sargeant.
  11. Hail brothers, Ive got a question for you guys. Do you guys have back banners for your sargeants? I never really took them because I felt it was rather stupid as it made sargeants huge targets. Also its kinda hard to hide behind a wall to suprise someone if you got a giant banner sticking out above your head And then I realized....wait a minute. These are adeptus astartes. They are space marines and they dont give a flying monkey if their opponents sees them coming. Infact, they want to be seen as otherwise they wouldnt be carrying around such overly bright power armour! Also the BA's are an artsy fartsy artistic bunch and their banners should probably be works of art So do you guys have and paint the back banners and would care to share them? im looking for some inspiration before I want to start on mine. Cheers, Demo
  12. I think ive actually redone or stripped most of my original models I felt the squads that were with me all this while and won me so many games deserved a new paintjob I do think ive still got a few of the 'old guard' lying around that had weapon options that I never used anymore. Il see if I cant find a few to share
  13. Can someone help a forum (apparently) newbie out? I cant for the life of me get the 'vow completed' image to work in my signature...
  14. Thanks Jolemai, that worked :) Interceptors Captain Sideshot of the Captain Hellblasters And last but certainly not least, my Intercessors!
