  1. Loving the company champion!
  2. Arent artificer armour suits all custom made and 1 step below terminator armour in regards to protection? I havent read up on gravis armour but I doubt it would offer the same protection that AA would. It might be abit easier to mass produce (relativly speaking) but SG arent a massive force to begin with, I see no problem in them keeping AA honestly. Or does Gravis armor add something else that im overlooking? What significance is there to the Gravis keyword for example? Asking as someone who hasent got their codex yet (it ordered though. damn you mail orders for taking this long!)
  3. Results may vary I guess but ive gunned down plenty of things wtih tacticals same goes for scouts back when they were still troops. Bigger squads only make sense if you want both a heavy and a special weapon or want them to still be around at the end of the battle, You can take 5 and stick one weapon of your choice in there as well to keep them cheaper then a full squad, But in my experience 5 man squads rarely make it till the end of the battle, they die to quikly. And troops that arent on the field anymore cant really capture anything Im not saying bigger squads is always a better choice then keeping them bare bones though. If you prefer to spend the points elsewhere, do that. Dont go out and say its THE only way to play though.
  4. Last time I played DE was a while back before they got a new codex but what was basicly true then is that their army came apart at the seams if you could hit them.... With....well...anything. Theyre fast and mobile. Can dish out a punch but they cant take a punch. I think dropping Inceptors next to them and blasting them out of the sky could work. Its kinda hard to avoid ffor the DE player but then again they might have a strategem to counter that, I wouldnt know :/ My DE buddy has lost his army (entire armycase was stolen sadly) and isent looking to get back into the hobby anytime soon so I cant share any battlefield experience with you sadly :(
  5. I feel Gravis armor is abit to crude for what the SG do. They always come across as more 'finely tuned scalpel' then 'crude hammer' tactics that Gravis units seem to be. Id love better stats for SG but at the same time im not sure how they would go about it
  6. Hello all, I havent played in a while and im looking to get back into the hobby. Im a casual player so im not looking for tourney list feedback but I want to slowly get back into the hobby and using battlescribe (still need to grab the codexes) I recreated my old (5th or 6th ed?) list. As well as I could but couldnt fit everything in the list. I would love some feedback on my list, maybe some of the units are really bad now or something and I would love to hear that before I get a chance to hit the field :D Heres the list: Hq: Astorath - Warlord Sanguinary priest with power axe, armour indomitus, chief apothecary Troops: 10 man Interecessor squad, 2 astartes grenade launchers 10 man tac squad, lascannon, plasmagun, bolter sergeant 10 man tac squad, multi-melta, plasmagun, powerfist/bolter sergeant Elites: 8 man DC squad with jumppacks, 1 TH and 3 power swords Fast attack: 1 Attack bike with multi-melta Heavy support: Baal Predator with heavy bolter sponsons and twin assault cannon, hunter killer missle and stormbolter Vindicator with siege shield. hunter killer and stormbolter Some of my own points: -I had some points left over and used those to get a stormbolter and hunter killer on both my Baal Predator and Vindicator. An easy way to make up some points would be to drop those but like I said, I had some leftover points so just stuck on more guns :D -Back when I played first blood wasent a huge thing and the MM AB could be an easy first blood VP for my opponent so im not to sure if I should keep that one in. Thoughts on the list? :)
  7. Returning Blood Angel player here, I had basicly the same questions about whats good and what isent now. Obviously for Blood Angels having additional rules its abit different but I think overall the core of the army seems to be the same. I havent played in a while but tacticals havent changed that much over the years (aside from the 1 wound now) and I have played abit with Intercessors. On the Primaris vs first born argument when it comes to troops: generally speaking tactical marines were never 'that' good. But one thing that they always did was stay alive quite well compared to other armies troops. Toughness 4 and a 3+ save on even your basic troops was quite nice. Stick them in cover and theyre even more resiliant and if theyre sitting ontop of an objective your opponent cant ignore them completly. Even if they did nothing aside from capturing you that objective, they can win you a game. But that applies to both tactical and Intercessors. For tacticals: If you take a squad of 10 you add to their beefiness and can take some additional anti-tank or anti-infantry weapons (depending on what you want) to supplement their arsenal. The sargeants also have more options compared to intercessors. So theyre more versatile overall in that regard. On the flipside, the basic arnament of Intercessors is alot better then the tactical squads bolters, but they can only gain more range on their grenades. So they would be a better choice if you just want your troops to squat down on an objective and gun down enemy infantry. They could hurt light vehicles at a pinch with gren launchers but I wouldnt make it their main selling point... So tacticals can be a threat to just about anything that you tool them for, but only to a certain degree (only 1 pick of special and heavy weapon for a full squad) while Intercessors are better at anti infantry (and possibly light vehicles) but cant be tooled for much else. If you just want a unit that squats down on an objective and does nothing else for the entire game though id just go for the cheapest and bare minimum here. Leaves more points for the rest of your army that way ;)
  8. Almost all of the previously stand alone marine codexes are now supplements - Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Deathwatch - the only exception being Grey Knights. It's really not that bad, we get the vanilla Space Marine stuff plus our unique stuff, by and large. On one hand I can see the upsides. If they want to change something for all marines (like an historic example....say the storm shield needs an update?) they could just change that in the main codex and wouldnt need to change it for all the codex that wield it. On the other hand, it means we need (at bare minimum) 2 books to play our army now. I hope we dont go back to needing half a dozen books just to wield our army.... I dident play much like I said earlier but I got the campaign book for the devastation of Baal book and while more options was nice (like Primaris Mephiston!) keeping track of all the faq's, erretas and changelogs was very bothersome. And I dident even play Thanks @Jolemai, good to be back im already painting Intercessors as the painting bug caught up with me il take a look at that thread you posted, thanks!
  9. Wait the codex is back to beeing a supplement? We just got a stand-alone codex after a few editions of codex limbo and now were back to beeing a supplement? Upgrading characters sounds pretty neat actually. You dont need a seperate entry for the upgraded versions that way, I like it. I did play a handfull of 7th (or was it 8th?) edition games and I know some of the changes, but not all obviously. So il have to do some reading before I can start thinking about playing a game. My local game store hasent seen a game for over a year (for obvious reasons ) so I have no clue how the game scene is currently. They are still there, but gaming in the LGS is off the picture for the foreseeable future. I hope to have learned the rules by the time it is possible again. :) Really appreciate the feedback! HElps alot ^_^
  10. Thanks for the replies :) I dont have the codex on hand yet so il have to make that my priority, but whats this about upgrading Priests? like can you turn them into sanguinary high priests or something? I had heard that marines had gotten a 2 wounded....sometime ago but never got to play with that. That said ive also heard some weapons (most notably more stronger weapons like plasma) do more wounds as well though so I guess it evens out? Stronger against small arms fire, same weakness to anti-power armor weapons? Shame to hear our assault marines arent the powerhouses they used to be. Ive won many games with a decent assault squad charge and when properly supported they could really hold their own. What would you guys suggest I look into for CC units?
  11. Hail brothers! Im an old school BA player, think I stopped playing somehwere end of 5th ed begin of 6th edition. I want to pick up he hobby again and im wondering whats changed for the sons of our most glorious hawkboi! Memes aside, aside from a few units from the new starter box almost none of my units are primaris. Id love to hear some feedback about whats good and what isent in this edition before I get facerolled by people because im bringing older units that might not have the best rules anymore I dont mind the primaris units per se, but id love it abit more if my battle company+ isent made completly obsolete by the current rules My army used to be composed of a mix of mech units and assault/death company units with jump packs. Used priests for FnP bubbles when they could still do that and stuff like that. Loved the synergy and high mobility that it brought and loads of people underrestimated my DC charges, Often quikly learning to shoot the black ones first My 'back in my day' musings aside, looking forward to read your feedback!
  12. I used to run scout snipers as objective baby sitters way back in 4th and 5th. Back then they also wounded monstrous creatures on 4's though and rending could make them quite nasty. Currently I dont feel sniper scouts are worth it though, other units outshine them in that regard. Intercessors when parked in cover have a 2+ AS as well and with bolter dicipline they can dish out some nice firepower at 30 inches. Having 2 wounds and attacks a piece also means they outshine scouts in survivabilty and punch in combat as well. And when you are done outfitting the scouts with cloaks, missle launcher and snipers a full squad is actually more expensive then the Intercessors are So uh....yeah. For sitting on a home objective I dont see them beeing that valuable anymore. Now, if you were to infilitrate them ontop of an objective thats in the middle of the field, thats another story. I feel bolters or bolt pistol and ccw is the way to go for them now. You can still add the cloaks to make them annoying to deal with but I feel as a firebase other units do it better. Maybe they could be used to run up a flank and be a nuisance I guess? Aside from the 4+ AS they are still marines in stats. Could tie down units that your opponent would rather have shooting at our elite units
  13. Well tbh it makes more sense to me this way. I kinda felt the strategems were 'aha I activate this trap-card' thingy. So you replace one of your normal shots with the mortal wound effect. Would otherwise be a bit powerfull Still, good that they clarified it. Avoids arguments that way. Anyway how would you guys run them knowing that you cant get a 'freebie' mortal wounds from the cherub? Would you change anything or keep the mixed squad?
  14. That's 2d3 only if I'm not mistaken? Cherub allows 1 reload. 2d3 from either HB with Cherub or ML with Cherub and another 1d3 from the other weapon you didn't use the Cherub on. It's two different Stratagems so you can use both in the same phase. Would the 2nd shot from the Cherub also be dishing out mortal wounds though? I kinda assumed it dident....
  15. Liking those Primaris DC :) lovely conversions!
