Pavement Artist's Achievements

  1. when one guy makes multiple codexes and books talking about how awesome they are because they follow the rules to to the letter like a bunch of unthinking idiots, how tactically skilled they are because they use tactics that anyone could think of, and how their chapter master is the most awesome because he can go super Saiyan, blow up the deathstar, find the holy grail, and has dined with the emperor himself, it's pretty hard to shake the hate. Which one guy would this be?
  2. I really like this one. Nice and introspective. Just the sort of thing i like.
  3. Awakening I awake from a sleep that is not sleep, into a life that is but a parody of death. Eyes without lids open onto my kingdom of sepulchral night. I sit on my throne, wires as long and flowing as a maiden's hair, spill from my body, leeching power from this grave hall in order to sustain the form I name my body. The quiet beneath the earth is unlike anything you could comprehend. The silence so utterly oppressive, like a hushed breath of wind before a hurricane. Can you imagine that? A quiet so complete, its very presence promising the onrush of death. Beyond, I can see my warriors. They sleep upright, arms crossed, their frames recessed into the sarcophagi ports that line the catacombs of this vile hall. They await me, stretching away beyond my sight: an honour guard of the quiet dead. My eyes alight on a swarm of servile constructs, their chrome scarab forms swarming over the walls like oil spilling from a borehole. These creatures had been awake the long millennia, keeping myself and my vassals-not alive but...functional. I can sense the grave legions beyond me stir, a fibrillation of understanding pulsing through their forms. Like me, they can sense the interlopers on the surface. I can sense them even now, crawling about on My warriors feel it, even though all memory and empathy had been sundered from them since before living memory. Something was awaking within them, a rising pitch of logical fury. There would be a reckoning with those above. We are the lessons of history. I raise a hand to my face, seeing the monstrous gigantism of the machine form. My silver shod fingers clench together, testing joints that age can never weary. I raise my head to my men. I envy the ignorance of the dead. They have not been allowed enough of their past selves to remain in order to understand how miserably we have been reduced. I arise. Cables snap from my form, pinging back against the seat of the throne as they tear free. Within me I feel a pitch of fury rising, disgust at the alien interloper. It irks me that I cannot embrace it. I have no way of knowing if this sensation is my own, or some impulse that has been threaded into my new form, laying dormant for my awakening. In my hand is my scythe- the ritual symbol of my office. I remember I am a king. Miserable as my kingdom may be, the old ways must be remembered. I raise the scythe in my hand. Along the endless hallways, more eyes without lids open. Weapons awaken, thrumming with power. As one, creaking necks turn to me. Death mask faces, silently awaiting orders. For now, I give none. I raise my head and look into the distance, staring as I follow the endless line of corpse lights into the darkness.
  4. The creature in question is a daemon, a Khorne flesh hound is fairly likely. To my mind it seems unlikely that other legions would have used creatures in a similar way pre heresy (space wolves aside.) That being said, if you can think of a cool background justification for your guys, then go forth! Having a few flesh hounds purely for aesthetic purposes with a word bearers vigilator could work. Check out the mighty lord of khorne from AOS. He has a flesh hound on a leash.
  5. Not gonna lie, the possibilities of having the LSS and scout bikes have me quite pleased. 6th was the only time I've been able to semi effectively run tenth company, and Grim Resolve as it is actually helps the sniper elements of the tenth quite a bit. I'll just have to see what bike HQs we have left when the dust settles. I didnt think about snipers. After my two razor backs, predator and black knights I might get some painted. (At my current painting rate I’ve penciled them in for 2020. If I get a rush on I might have them finished for Dwayne’s inauguration) You're a Dark Angel, it makes sense to honour The Rock.
  6. I'm going to attempt to dispel some worries. Firstly, let's consider the new state of background in both core GW systems. We have been used to decades of fluff in stasis, keeping both settings in a particular holding pattern, with new editions of army books simply reiterating the status quo, or mining the past for "new" lore. Now we are seeing a constant changing narrative, evolving over every codex, campaign supplement, BL novel. It would be foolish to assume that the revelations about the BA in this novel are going to dictate the entire state of the chapter going forward. This is simply the beginning. I am putting a fiver down right now. The flaw isn't apparent FOR THE MOMENT. It's going to come back.
  7. Agreed. I certainly wouldn't be swayed by someone who had those sort of objections. My gaming group is wonderfully relaxed about these matters.
  8. Just ordered a job lot of 25mm. Wasn't quite feeling it as much as yesterday. No issues about powergaming among my circle but they do look a tad lost. Thank you all for the input!
  9. I imagine my natural incompetence will counter that.
  10. Morning folks. I'm sure this is a stupid question and given my gaming circle, certainly redundant. I was just wondering if there was anything suggesting guard shouldn't be based on 32mm bases? I'm currently working on my decade old tallarn and fancied a slightly larger base for purely aesthetic purposes. I don't play in competitive circles and my local store is warhammer world, so i like to think they don't care. I wonder if anyone has A: Based their guard on 32s B: Can i see C:have you experienced any pushback for doing so. Kind regards
  11. This is very well written, though Iasus' comments towards Thiel are somewhat unfounded as he did fight on the surface of Calth, as shown in Censure by Nick Kyme
  12. IP, whenever you're next in Nottingham, i will have to buy you a beer for the pleasure of gawping at this army.
  13. With fast open-topped transports and Fleet, getting into close combat is not exactly a problem for them. In my last match against againsts DE he started and already assaulted my troops in the first turn (he went first). Pff. But, enough off-topic from me, I reckon! That would be illegal in this edition. You can't charge in the first turn anymore. Unless it was 5th, in which case, i've done that plenty. The look on a tau player's face when youre in straight away. Please provide a reference where charging in Turn 1 is illegal in 6th. I know you can't do it with models having the Infiltrate or Scout USR's, but I was under the impression that you could charge with other units in Turn 1 if all other conditions are satisfied. Dark Eldar got a major hit in 6th in that even in fast open-topped vehicles they can no longer move 12" and then assault; this makes it less likely that they can assault in Turn 1, but the rules don't prohibit an assault if they can get in range. Haven't got the rulebook to hand so can't verify at the moment sorry. I find that it actually balances out when you consider things. You're limited to six inches movement yes, but you are able to disembark six inches away now and with random charge ranges there is the potential to cover even more ground. Of course that isn't a definite (lord knows the dice have meddled with me) but things are still rosey for deldar
