The wraithlord bits are now one with the base though I still have a few places that need tidying up. The converted legs make their appearance and now I can start focusing on the Way Seer conversion. Mostly a greenstuff cape to replace the plastic one I had to clip off, cleaning up joins, and putting some detail back on the chest where I had to file stuff off.

Jokaero Challenge 2025

I swear, every single time I sign up for some kind of challenge, life jumps up and smacks me. Definitely not going to make the deadline. :( -

Guess who jumped to another project? Yeah... So anyway, I wanted to do my own version of the Warhammer+ Infinity's Lament because I think the eldar are frequently done dirty in the lore and a model of a spirit seer retrieving the soul of one of his fallen charges is pretty cool for GW to do. But I sure as hell ain't buying a year of WHTV or paying the eBay prices for one. My 3d printer is temporarily out of action but I'd been wanting to get back a traditional conversion lately anyway. I thought I may have to print the arms for the spirit seer, but when I was digging around in my eldar sprues I was reminded that I bought a box of Voidscarred corsairs and that took care of that. Oh, because I don't really play anymore I want all my figures to face the same way - usually to their left - so I'm going to be doing a mirrored version of the original. Since I was trying not to use my printer, I do have a plastic wraithlord but I didn't want to chop it up for this so I dusted off the Oyumaru to mold and cast some copies made with Apoxisculpt. Coincidentally, this makes the battle damage even easier to do than the normal plastic or resin 3d printed version. While the Apoxisculpt was still soft I scored the back piece and snapped it along that line, and also used a variety of tools to damage the head. With some plastic rod I made a smaller version of the vertebrae-like structure you can see inside the head of the official model. Also copied the back piece of the plastic torso and an arm, but didn't mind sacrificing one of the open hands for this. Early bluetac sketch looks pretty good IMO, bu now the real chopping and surgery begins. And apparently you can put less than half the total picture size since I last posted here, so here's the sketch pic.

Jokaero Challenge 2025
Brother-Chaplain Kage replied to Valkia the Bloody's topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
Cool! My custom eldar are corsairs so that's one difference. And the pose would be mirrored for reasons. I, BCK, vow to finish an alt version of Infinity's lament for the Jokaero Challenge! This is what I have so far. -

Would doing my own version of Infinity's Lament be too tame for this challenge? 'Cause I just started working on it two days ago and just saw this competition right now. >_> -
I'm considering removing the rectangular housing but I have a few other printing projects to get out of the way before I really get into this one. Right now just planning and making a few add ons.

Discovered the Dark Scythe weapon on the Voidraven bomber and thought it might look neat on the DoD. Getting a close duplicate went fairly well. Until I realized the back section was made to go into a weapon pod on the Voidraven and looked terrible mounted on the wings of the DoD. If I scaled it down enough to fit properly, the rest of the weapon looked comically small. So I had a think for a little while and decided to try integrating a bit of the D-Cannon look from the Craftworld side since this is a corsair army and I like the blend of the two aesthetics. And trying out the haywire blaster underslung.

It would be very difficult to do because the wing, the gun, and a pod underneath it are all one solid piece. TBH, even if I thought I could pull it off, it would be very time consuming. While I was at work today I did have the thought of putting the haywire weapon on the nose similar to the Reaper or maybe underslung and doing different weapons on the wingmounts. Since this is going to be part of my corsairs, it's not Vect and I could get away with mixing some craftworld weapons in there. I wish I liked the look of the dark lance better because some big ones on the wing would be cool.

This month, Heroes Infinite (aka Raging Heroes) has some nice emo void elves on offer, but one model in particular snagged my attention and I had to grab the bundle. What is this, you ask? Notice the seated archon on the top deck up there. That's right, it's the Dais of Destruction! Though, as pretty as the model is, it doesn't really look like it can deal out that much... uh... destruction. Two wing guns and a single turret gunner? Nah, that won't do. To establish what this looks like 'out of the box', here's the whole thing assembled in 3d Builder. It is pretty, but it needs to be a throne befitting an archon. First up is removing the nondescript wing guns with something that has a little more bite to it. I am by no means a great 3d modeler, but I did manage to cobble together a big haywire blaster to spruce up the wings. There's also a not-Raider/Ravager ship in the void elves pack that has seated turret gunners and I'll need to figure out exactly how to mount them on the sides, but I think 6 gunners and the giant haywire blasters does a lot better to put the D in Dais of Destruction.

That wasn't a lie, but simply the ADHD not cooperating and work becoming a big pain in my ass for the last month. Sorry to say I don't think I will finish in time for the event deadline.

Last night I discovered one of the FLGS near me, who I frequent because they're the only ones relatively nearby (40 mile round trip) that stock Vallejo, are not only stocking Pro Acryl now, but they have all of the Signature Series paints individually! I grabbed Green Oxide from the Ben Komets set, Dark Jade from the Vincey V set, Dark Bronze from the Matt Cexwish set, and then Magnesium, Dark Neutral Grey, and Bold Titanium White from the normal range. All but the metallics are directly going into another attempt to lock down a consistent scheme for these superheavies and any future Blades of Vaul models. Will do some tests and would like to get a new paint job on the Scorpion up in a day or two.

It's a homebrew corsair group named The Blades of Vaul I agree about the rounded area not working. To be honest, as much as I like the paint scheme it's become a real pain in the ass to paint. I love the Eldritch (teal) color from P3 but with The Warmachine IP and the P3 paint range being sold off, I don't know how much longer it may be available, and even so I have trouble getting a consistent shade and highlight with it even when measuring drops of paint for the proportions of my original trial recipe. Probably going to strip the body of the Scorpion and might substitute a different color for the teal.

The idea for the Scorpion paint scheme: A few little masking issues I need to clean up, but I like it.

Black primer coat and then a nice white top coat to have a good backdrop for the other colors in the paint scheme. Which I still need to come up with. Won't go into details but work's been awful all week and then the airbrush was giving me trouble for hours and I'm surprised I got a result this clean.
