Ferrus Manus's Achievements

  1. I just need to pick up some Oranges from GW come pay day and I should be able to finish by the deadline (Fingers Crossed). Looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with!
  2. Sorry guys, and especially Brother Tyler, I’ve not managed to get my model finished in time. Probably not likely to until at least the weekend. But I shall endeavour to finish it!
  3. Have I missed something? But what is there to recruit on an uninhabited world? I appreciate this is setting up the grudge with the Dark Eldar, but it seems a bit expansive. Can the grudge not develop from an assault on their homeworld, killing a significant amount of potential recruits? Perhaps whilst the majority of the Chapter's strength was off combating other DE raids, just to add insult to injury? I quite like this idea, assumably this means that Serfs hold a higher position of respect than they otherwise would with another Chapter? How does this almost Alpha Legion style doctrine affect their relationship with more traditionally Codex Chapters? Does the Chapter have much 'day to day' interaction with the natives? Or are they more recluse, with the Monastery being seen by the Athlumians(?) as the Land of the Angels type of thing, i.e out of bounds. Has this lead to a more adhoc approach to company structure, akin to the Iron Snakes? ++++ A nice start Ace. Looking forward to seeing them fleshed out a bit more!
  4. Ahh Ace, you're making me blush. I really appreciate this, though it does make me feel that much more guilty that I have let them linger for so long! Man, he's so cool! Great posing, I can imagine him leading the charge through a hail of fire. You also have had the honour of painting the first Lion Eternal in their new colour scheme (My Tau are blue, I really didn't fancy painting another completely blue army ). Which gives me an idea, I may expand on Vothar's fluff if that's alright with you? As a side note, adding names throughout their lives isn't quite how I'd seen the Naming Ceremony aspect working. More of a one time deal, but actually I quite like the way you've portrayed it in that piece of fluff. You may have just changed my mind here! ++++ As for my own progress, I have built my Primaris marine. Going to have a think about how I can embellish him to make him more in keeping with the Fie Claw's aesthetic. Which reminds me, @Brother Tyler they are Orange rather than Bronze right?
  5. Ferrus Manus

    Arctic Lions 1.2

Cause I couldn't find the old one.
  6. I know the feeling Cam! Unfortunately work has been crazy this month. I'm hoping to be able to put some time aside this weekend and get some of my sections flushed out a little it. That said, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
  7. Looking forward to seeing these guys fleshed out Ace! I'm sure you wont disppoint. I don't really have anything to add at this stage, however this did draw my eye: Have you read the first Dawn of Fire book? There is a really interesting section where the main protagonist, a White Consul, discusses what his Chapter sees as their failing (due to the loss of their homeworld as part of the latest storyline) because they spent too much time governing and pursuing other interest rather than focusing on being warriors. Just some food for thought, obviously the White Consuls have more reason than most to be doubting themselves. Does this belief stem from, not just the Emperor, but an attempt to emulate their genesire's famed abilities as a Stateman?
  8. I Ferrus Manus, vow upon the honour of my Chapter, the Lions Eternal, to write/update a completed article containing their history and heraldry to the Liber Astartes/Chaotica by 29th March 2021. I also vow to complete one (1) miniature of a Chapter/Warband randomly assigned to me by the organizer by 2nd May 2021. Looking forward to it! Happy to build any type of power armour for Phase 2.
  9. Nice work on the Sarge! A solid collection of minis you have here, good luck painting all of them! ;)
  10. I, Ferrus Manus, undertake the Warlords Challenge to build an Imperial Guard Commander by March 2nd, 2018
  11. Really like your terminator concept! How complicated is it to “rewire” the weapon? Can you just bend the existing wires around the arm or do you have to just cut them away and replace?
  12. Are those Fulgrim’s legs??? I like it so far, but I think the positioning of the torso is a bit off. I think he looks a bit too up straight against the flow of the legs. Almost need some to be leaning forward a touch
  13. Wow, that is some pretty clear opinions. To be fair I spent most of the day writing down all the ideas I’ve had in my head for the warband. The path is set.
  14. Don’t give up on your Vostrayans, even a small force of them will look great at the rate you are going.
  15. I’ve posted about his in my current log, but with the rare topics disappear from the front page of the WIP section I thought I’d post here as well. The more the merrier and all that. Since the release of the latest fluff and rule sets I’ve put my eldar corsairs on hold until FW can release some half decent rules for them, rather than just plugging them awkwardly into the current eldar codex and I’m still not sure where I stand in terms of the Primaris stuff, I’m not necessarily against the fluff - it’s more the lack of a defined close combat unit which I think is silly. After all, if they are supposed to be better and bigger surely the old Astartes close up advantage would be enhanced with them? Anyhow, In the mean time I’ve been collecting and building a Tau army as my “out the box” force, which as it sounds I build straight from sprue, trying to make them as characterful as possible, and paint with the aim of having a playable army - for once ;) However, it leaves the converter in me - pretty much my favourite aspect of the models - wanting. As such I’ve come up with two options for smaller, but very heavily converted armies which will slow grow alongside my Tau, with the aim of pushing my modelling, sculpting and painting abilities. I’m interested to hear your thoughts about the two. The options being: 1- Grey Knights Strike Force: they were practically the first Astartes I ever bought, back when they were the all metal and limited poses. For me they have always been one of the most characterful armies, something which only improves under their new codex. Plus, I’d be interested to see how much I could get out of the sprues - and there are some many art pieces I’d love to try and emulate. 2- Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - I’ve recently found myself developing the background for a warband which allows themselves to be possessed to further their ability to hear the “music of the spheres” and push their need for excess, which I think would be interesting to explore in model form. Also, I think chaos armies naturally give the modeller more room to explore than their loyalist counterparts.. that and I have a Chaos Decimator that I’ve been meaning to build for ages. So what are your thoughts.. purity or damnation?
