Thank you, Follow up. If a character is leading the unit and it is wiped out is he still benefitting from the abilities? e.g. Does a Librarian have 4++ if he is the last man standing If you have a character, and do not attach him to a unit does he benefit from the ability? e.g Does a Librarian who is running as a lone operative get a 4++

Question about leaders

If you have two leaders in a unit, for the sake of argument Captain with Jump pack and Wolf Guard pack leader with jump pack attached to a unit of Skyclaws Is only one leader leading the unit? or are both? Does the unit benefit from both leaders like the Captain Angel's Wrath and the Pack leaders inspiring leadership?

Eliminators - Reposition Under Covering Fire rules question

Another question, or rather confirmation: Njal runic armour subtracts 1 from wound roll from psychic attacks and Libby's offer 4+FNP - I read this as affecting GK weapons with Psychic keyword, such as Nemesis Force Weapons, psycannon, etc... is that accurate? I feel like it will be a source of contention

1st 10th Edition list (1k)
-
Thank you on both counts. I am glad I posted
-
Last played 8th edition, skipped 9th and it looks like I am getting sucked back into 10th. I just wanted to post this 1k list for experienced players to check over and make sure that I have screwed anything up. Battling against Grey Knights with Dreadknight (Psycannon/Incinerator), Brother-Captain, Terminators (5), x4 Strike Squads (5) or unknown Tau force. I wanted to take a bit of a different approach to my usual 'Smashing into my enemy like a wave' tactic Battle Size: 1k Detachment: Vanguard Spearhead Shadow Masters: Each time a ranged attack targets an Adeptus Astartes unit from your army, unless the attacking model is within 12", subtract 1 from the Hit roll and the target has the Benefit of Cover against that attack. Arjac Rockfist Njal Stormcaller Wolf Guard Terminators (5) x2 Stormbolter, Powerfist, x2 Stormbolter, Stormshield, x1 Cyclone missile laundher, Stormbolter, Stormshield Sniper Scouts (5) Scout sgt, scout with missile launcher, x3 Sniper rifles, boltpistol, CCW x2 Wolf Scouts (5) Scout sgt, scout with missile launcher, x3 Astartes shotguns, boltpistol, CCW Wulfen (5) Stormshields, Stormfrag auto-launchers, Wulfen hammers Long Fangs Pack (5) Sgt, x4 Long Fangs with Lascannons x2 Heavy Intercessor squad (5) Sgt, Intercessor with Heavy bolter, x3 Boltpistol, Heavy bolt rifle, CCW ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set up Arjac and Njal join Wolf Guard Terminators - I had originally intended that they would Deep Strike in, arriving late game but given that Njal gives the unit he is in Stealth, the -2 to hit protection could make them a worthwhile bullet magnet taking the heat off of the ranged support units. Long Fangs, and Heavy Intercessors, as well as Sniper Scouts will hopefully objective hog. The -1 to hit (or -2 in the case for the Sniper scouts) and benefiting from cover, should increase their survivability. Wolf Scouts will deploy out of the way and snipe with their Missile launchers until they Guerilla tactics out of dodge if opponant takes the bait, hopefully leaving their units badly out of position, and redploying closer to backline objectives that GKs won't have enough models on the table to hold. Wulfen to be used to counter attack units that get too close, like reinforcing units in the midfield, or to cover the backline against reserves/deep strikers.

How should I counter the Guilliman gunline?
Coverfire replied to Coverfire's topic in + SPACE WOLVES +
I see your point about the language I used, one little redundant word can change the entire context of the sentence. Interesting area denial discussion, although it seems counter-intuitive I see your points of view and look forward to playing around with those options. You're also right in that although this is a Gunline, it doesn't mean it is a static one and will have to consider who I assault carefully to avoid leaving myself exposed when he falls back. Just purchased Open War cards so missions will be even more random than usual. -

I hear what you're saying, especially with support there from TigeriusX, whose opinion I do respect, however, - most arguments go downhill after someone says 'however' - I feel that firstly, Cyberwolves are overpriced for what is essentially fodder frankly. Yes, Fenrisian Wolves have a HUGE issue with LD, which is why I have 5 member packs so that my opponent kills them (as opposed to having them self-destructing) but they need to be able to be a least a little bit threatening if they're to take heat off my Long Fangs. If I choose to use them on the day to prevent teleporters to get too close then I will need them to span out. If they do get into combat a singular Cyberwolve may kill a MEQ but a pack of Fen Wolves have a better chance of taking out a few. Going back to cost. I am choosing between 20 Fenrisian wolves or 8 Cyberwolves. Against basically an army of Lascannons. The better armour isn't going to save me. If he brings out Missile Launchers may have to hit those as a priority target but at least I would get a save versus Frag missiles so maybe not. My power unit is the Wulfen anyway. If I have an opportunity to overrun his position unit by unit we'll see. but never having faced Guillman before I do not really know what to expect except the same type of death and carnage that took place when I faced Magnus (which was so hideously one sided with Death Hex, I had assaulted with Logan, Bjorn, Arjac, two long fangs, two cyberwolves, and a wolf guard battleleader at once and all of which perishing to frankly buggerall damage to Magnus). EDIT: That is my thinking anyway, I didn't come here to ignore advise so if you think that I am wrong them say so. Quite willing to swap and change stuff around. Hell, I'll rethink the entire tactic. Ven Dreads with Shield? Predators? Using Grey Hunters in Rhinos. I do like the idea of two Scout packs all plasma'd up in a rhino. -
The uses I have found for Wolf Priest. 1. Stormclaw Attack bikes. 4 Wounds models, sit Lukas next to them and they hit on 3+ too... 2. Lone Wolf's - Teleport in 2 Lone Wolfs and a Wolf Priest. 3. Outflanking Wulfen - Have yet to try this but when Wulfen outflank, I generally support them with Harald Deathwolf but I am also thinking of Teleporting a Wolf Priest next to the unit they're going to charge for rerolls in the fight phase.

Space wolves points in battlescribe
Coverfire replied to Rune Priest Jbickb's topic in + SPACE WOLVES +
I just start playing with lists on Battlescribe, fill it out in Excel and then double check points but going through Dex and CA. Frankly, it was best to do that even before the CA update because there were more than a few mistakes. -
In 5th Edition I use to pod Logan Grimnar, Arjac Rockfist and a full unit of Long Fangs. Back then of course I could deploy two other pods with it on the first turn but I am thinking of doing something similar in this edition to see if I can use at least one of the drop pods I own. Question: Is using 'Cunning of the Wolf' limited by the Tactical Reserves rule pg 215 or is it an exception allowing us to place more than 50% into the teleportium...

How should I counter the Guilliman gunline?
Coverfire replied to Coverfire's topic in + SPACE WOLVES +
At the moment I am thinking something along the lines of this. Harald Deathwolf Wolf Priest in terminator armour Ven Dread ' Rifleman' Ven Dread ' Rifleman' Wulfen x10 - Pack leader w/ claws, Hammer/shields Fenrisian Wolf Pack x5 wolves Fenrisian Wolf Pack x5 wolves Fenrisian Wolf Pack x5 wolves Fenrisian Wolf Pack x5 wolves Wolf Guard Battle leader - boltpistol, frost sword Wolf Guard Battle leader - boltpistol, frost sword Long Fangs - Wolf Guard champ w/ stormshield, pack leader, x4 Lascannons Long Fangs - Wolf Guard champ w/ stormshield, pack leader, x4 Lascannons Long Fangs - Wolf Guard champ w/ stormshield, pack leader, x4 Lascannons Chapter approved book freed up around 150-odd points so I brought in some Fenrisian Wolves to annoy him. I think it would be funny if he has to target them or get assaulted. There is the question: if an opponent places his units models on the floor of a building so that when you charge you cannot physically place the base of your model on the floor of the building the charging unit is assaulting is the charge successful? Can you position your models in such a way that you can prevent being assaulted despite being in range? Because if you can that screws a lot of what I wanted to do and my opponent will know it and exploit it. EDIT: Oh, the plan. ummm.... Deployment: Long fangs & Ven Dreads set up on the 48" mark to his devastator units with battle leaders in support. Harald, Wolf Priest and Wulfen go into Reserves. Fenrisian Wolves set up either to prevent his reserves from getting too close to my Long Fangs or to rush ahead and assault his. Harald and Wulfen will Outflank either to assault or support against teleporting terminators if he lands first and I feel that I could put up a decent effort with my gunline. Wolf Priest with teleport in to support Wulfen assault.
