    Around about 20-25,000 points of Death Guard painted not sure how much unpainted. About 5k of imperial knights (Makabius), 1 reaver (Mortis), 5-6k of Thousand sons & starting a Dark Angel army..

    In regards to the whole helmet/bare head thing and the pictures from your eye lens tutorial.. Years ago I think Christian Byrne did a black legion lieutenant with a white helmet that I always really liked the look of.. the white half of the tutorial head reminded me of that and if done on an "interesting" helmet could look pretty cool and draw focus to the Praetor.

    Ok knowing that youbuse Vallejo paints and thinners helps quite a bit.. as I have a lot of Vallejo paints and also use their thinner most of the time. I don't use any flow aid in my mix and mix by eye most of the time.. as you say a lot of it comes down to experience and trial and error but you "should" be able to get a decent result at about 15psi working pressure.. I'd consider setting the compressor valve and not the in line one if possible.. Will allow you to get am accurate read on what psi you are spraying at (less variables are good) Out of laziness I mix in the cup on my airbrushes with the thinner being put in 1st.. if you put the paint in 1st it can block the nozzle up super fast. The blends on the armour were done with the sotar at a working pressure of 15psi, just as an example. I'd recommend doing a deep clean on the nozzle and needle and then lubricating the needle a little to reduce tip dry. (Be careful not to drop the actual nozzle.. it's smaller than a grain of rice and took me close to 45 minutes to find when I dropped mine...) Soak it in your cleaner of choice to loosen up any stubborn paint and give it a thorough clean.. then visually inspect it.. (shine light through it and see if it's clear.. basic but effective) Higher pressure will give less room for mistakes with fine blends and lines as you'll be spraying closer to the model. The sotar also has a dial on the back.. play with some decent quality black acrylic ink, close the dial off & then adjust it very slightly.. as it will stop the trigger moving past barely open and allow you to see how close you can get and how fine too.     what thinner are you using to thin your paint with? what paints are you using? have you made sure the nozzle itself isn't blocked at all? how far away from the model are you spraying? getting the balance right between all the different aspects can be quite tricky to begin with, the sotar is capable of producing close to pencil thin lines with correctly thinned paint and the right pressure.

    If you think there is an issue with the brush Ken Schlotfeldt (the owner of badger) is pretty active on facebook and as a company they're pretty damn good customer service wise.. i personally have a Renegade Krome and a Sotar 20/20 and have had no issues with either brush that hasn't been fixed by a good clean. 30-40 PSI for scale model work is pretty insane.. Outside of the hobby i spray cars for a living and even on them i barely use that kind of pressure spraying with a 12" fan. i would suggest thinning your paint further and lowering the pressure..

    Deviantart. Pretty much every other site rescales your images & compresses them in a manner.im not keen on. Often times im lazy and just use facebook if its a quick upload but thats just a bad habit that i wouldnt recommend falling into. Whatever the case keep up the good work.

    Id kinda like to rework necrosius sometime to fit with the newer stuff, i like the kitbashed models youve done, the staff is from the necromancer on the 1st one?

    Use a hair dryer. You can glue one end to the gun/backpack and then bend the feeds and glue them instantly can also use this to rework the feeds once tgeyre glued if you have a specific shape in mind

    faces are generally the focal point of the miniature in my opinion. for "basic" infantry sometimes less is more and leaving things like the eyes as just a bit of shadow can sometimes be more beneficial than painting on googly eyes with a thousand yard stare. However if you are a maniac/obsessive over such things they can bring your painting up to another level. on steel legion I'd consider how much flesh is on show, what the colours around it are and try to add some contrast into the skin.. so if the gas mask is a darker brown I would go for a lighter skin tone to make it stand out a little more etc etc. in terms of washes, reikland flesh shade can be very useful for basic skin colours, but in the long run you will want to add more depth to the skin itself as the shadows wont all be one colour.. For example a lot of painters will add glazes of blue around the eye sockets before painting the eyes in (Forge Worlds Fulgrim is a good example of this) here are some examples of how i paint faces (most of which i have shaded around the eyes with a dark brown and used glazes of reikland flesh shade and druchii violet over mixes of several skin tone paints to get the effect i wanted.

    Look forward to seeing your 1k, im fond of your recipe for taurs and would like to see more painted. Id be interested to see how you tackle some termies and the various deviations to the scheme (vets etc)

    Glad to see you working on these again, smaller goals certainly help, too much unfinished stuff in front of you can affect your motivation I find.. Hope to see some more paint soon ;)

    Nice work, I like the idea of the older pattern mm on the raven.. may steal that at some point for an eagle. I highly recommend strips of brass from off cuts on brass etch for the basis of straps if you have any otherwise id use strips of resin and a hairdryer as ive never been a fan of plasticard for them its a pain to shape
