Why not? Honestly, it's the fluff - great history (I choose to ignore the Deus novels) with Sanguinius holding the Gate alone so everyone else could retreat inside, then following the Emperor willingly to his own death, knowing it had to be done... the honour and nobility he always showed, not just to his own people but to all humanity is something to be revered. Besides, they're red.
