Master Toddius's Achievements

  1. I got side tracked with Darren Lathams #90smarinechallenge on Instagram. I never painted up the Flamer from the 1993 2nd ed box Marines. The primer is Citadel DA rattle can, sprayed 30 years ago. So here we go! :) Made some progress. Going to be DA 4th Co. Competition: https://www.instagram.com/p/CukImGONlqN/?img_index=1
  2. After seeing grey paint jobs from 'eavy metal team in the past -- what my friends and I realized is that in some cases they're actually mixing grey with brown. The result is pretty unique and makes for an alternate darker tone in areas that would be darker if you're using an overhead light source method of highlighting/shading. Its absolutely worth the time to test with some different shades of grey mixed w/ brown.
  3. Its rare to see a full wip blog of tyranids, for some reason. Looking forward to the completed posted models. Looks like you have a good handle on the style you're going for.
  4. Very Characterful. Its always fun to paint different chapters in a single project. Makes it less tedious.
  5. I like the look of the flesh you painted. It still looks living (barely) and vital part of his being. Most painters are making the flesh look totally dead. Your result makes it more horrific and twisted. Great work.
  6. Very Grim Dark without going too far. I dig it.
  7. Love everything about this squad. Even the bases are done well. That red and gold is crisp and buttery smooth.
  8. The new repaint, different models + the addition of the turret and drones. Its still WIP. Working on finalizing the pauldron sept color. Looking at getting some of the metalics as well. The bases are close to what I want, I think it needs another layer of highlights, bring it to a lighter brown.
  9. Old paint scheme from 2011. Back when GW still produced the original Shadow Blue. After I painted this scheme -- I soon noticed that a LOT of Tau players went with blue Tau armies. Didn't get past the WIP stage and left the army as is until this year.
  10. Trying out a black backdrop with my new Sony alpha6000. Still figuring out the camera. Test shot.
  11. I think you have a good start. I've always found grey paint jobs very challenging. Grey paint looks much different wet than dry. So its next to impossible to wet blend gradients. I think layering with a careful understanding of what the finished shade will look like dried is the only real way, other than using an airbrush. Good luck, man. Looking forward to the result.
  12. And then repainting the Plasma and Flamers.
  13. Prototyping the Cyclic Ion Blaster.
  14. I apologize for lack of detail. Heres a better pic. Just bought a new light box and figuring out the best way to take pics into it.
