  1. Haha, the intent definitely wasn't to create the Prius of chainblades, was hoping for something more menacing than that! Here's a couple more pics so you can see the power-pack I've made (including high-tech pull-starter) and the start of the hilt for the blade. Apologies for the over-sized images, I'll make sure they are better sized in future. I'm definitely feeling a fuel line from the pack to the blade, perhaps an armoured line of some sort. Suggestions much appreciated! WotF
  2. Hey all, thanks for the positive feedback so far! I'll post some more pics this afternoon to show what else I've done with the model. Trying to find a nice way to do some wires from the pack across the model is the next step. Other things I need to resolve are the guard for the sword handle and I need to add some =][= symbols across the model. The nice thing about having such a characterful base model to work from is that it doesn't require too much work to give it an identity! In terms of doing more of these, I'm probably going to just focus on the one for now and see where he ends up, however if GW were to release more 'Darkoath' models, I might be tempted... I retained the motor and housings from the chainswords I used, you'll see they're just above the eagle icon I've added (primarily as a shielding device for the motor!). So it operates in the same way as a normal chainsword, and has two motors, one for each saw blade mounted on alternate sides of the sword. Working on it did make me wonder how chainswords are actually meant to be fuelled, as they don't seem to have any tanks! I was tempted to run a fuel line to the sword, but I'm torn, as in a combat scenario that's bound to get cut. For now 'rule of cool' means I'm ignoring it.
  3. This is a random WIP, but I decided to create something a bit Blanche-y for 40k/INQ28/SW:A from the Darkoath Chieftan model from Silver Tower. I've only really just started on him, but I'm loving the direction of travel so far. Without further ado: I'll get some more pics soon so you can see the backpack I've built and also the bits of GS work I've been doing on him to make him feel a bit more 40k / Blanche-y. Any and all suggestions to improve would be much appreciated! WotF
  4. Small progress update: Sternguard getting trim detail: Quad gun / Thunderfire getting the same treatment:
  5. Hey, thanks very much for the feedback. The way I see it, the Squats are a race of intergalactic traders (or certainly are in their Demuirg incarnation) so I think they would adopt tech from many species. The Boltgun is one of those toys that I think any race would look at and raise their eyebrows, so I figured it would make its way into their forces eventually! I will also be using some parts from the Tau range too to give a bit of balance in that sense. I've left in some Dwarvish weapons to give the Squat their own unique tech as well, you'll see in the Tac squad that one of the Irondrakes has the standard weapon, which I'll use as either a flamer or plasma. The Sternguard also have their standard weapons rather than bolters, though this is mainly because I just loved those models so much I couldn't bring myself to adapt them too heavily!
  6. Hello all! It's been a while since I was last active on this forum and I notice you've since invited xenos and all sorts of other denizens of the galaxy to poke their foot in the door! Here are some pics of my latest project, a Squat 'count-as' Space Marine force. I've not made huge amounts of progress on painting them, but I'm really loving the models so far: Scout snipers: Tactical squad: Techmarine with Thunderfire / Quad Cannon: Sternguard: Captain: I've got a few other bits to build including a unit of Centurions inspired by this excellent conversion, a Land Speeder (Gunhauler), a rhino (Goliath) and a termite. Watch this space for updates, would love to hear your thoughts, feedback and suggestions for the army!
  7. When mine arrives, it's going to be something like this: http://25.media.tumblr.com/50453f8ed802b2b918927e9486515271/tumblr_n2kox703gk1qd9z3no1_500.jpg I've always wanted to paint up a quartered paint scheme! I'd suggest making ypurs a freeblade to explain how it will be allied to all your different armies. My colour suggestion for your Knight would be purple, it will match well with green, bone and black. WotF.
  8. Inner West pom here, usually go to the Battle Bunker in the CBD, collect Space Marines (BA Jumpers), IG and working on a Chaos Dwarf BB team and Cultist Necromunda gang. Be good to meet up with anyone who's into playing smaller games and painting. If you're interested in checking out my stuff, I run a wee blog here. WotF.

  10. Welcome to the board fella! I've not actually got any army with me, so gaming is sadly off the table! Which GW store do you use?
  11. Seem to be a running trend with this thread, but I'm moving to Sydney from the UK in august! I collect Imperial Fists and paint pretty much everything going. Not 100% sure which store I'll be frequenting in Sydney, though I'm looking at a flat in North Shore, so open to suggestions. Be good to get to know some people from the area. WotF
  12. By the rulers, I'd say they're a bit small for a Knight Titan. Nice though.
  13. Sounds like our prayers have been answered, in the long term!
