  1. I just got about 15 mins with the book in front of Neil Wylie, one of the lead authors. I looked over the Signus Campaign, the Blood Angel lore and the Army List. Neil is responsible for writing the lore. Wow. It’s stunning. Just stunning. The Legion changes and evolves repeatedly, from pre-Sanguinius and onwards. There are Spheres as an organisational unit. The First Sphere consists of the Sanguinary Guard; the Crimson Paladins; another, secretive order that watches over the Legion from within; and also the Angels Tears, or Silver Masks, who are Blood Angels specific Destroyers. There are symbols for each of those groups, showing how the angelic mythology heavily influences and shapes the Legion. At the time of the Heresy, they are approx 120,000 strong and are described as the pre-eminent Legion Astartes. Horus sees them as a primary threat and is advised they either need to be destroyed, host by host, in detail or in some way neutralised or turned. Mortarion favours the first option, but Lorger convinces him of the other way... Then there are the Dawn Bringers. And the booster jet fitted Contemptor Dreadnought.... It’s going to be incredible. :)
  2. That sounds like the right thing to do. What parts did you use to model that? Did you take the arms with bolt pistol and swap the pistol for a bolter?
  3. It appears from various topics that running Death Company with jump packs, chainswords and bolters is a good starting point with the new Codex. Has anyone attempted to model that yet? My first thought was to use the two-handed bolter from the Death Company kit, and the separate holstered chainswrd from the Mk.III marine kit added beneath the jump pack. That just doesn't seem to say 'Black Rage-fueled monsters' to me. Therefore, the next obvious option is to go for one handed bolter and chainsword in the other hand. Has any one already modeled that? Does it look out of balance? What are people planning for this new setup?
  4. That’s really helpful to know Brother, thank you. Do you have any pictures of a Scout with the Ranger head in place?
  5. Has anyone tried Spellcrow's Guard/Scout heads on Space Marine Scouts? Either of these sets: Guards \ Scouts Heads Guards \ Scouts Heads with Long Hair I am tempted to get a set of these to blend the new(er) plastic scouts with the old metal ones. I was also planning on using Tempestus Scion Helmeted heads for Scouts too, but now I'm tempted by these Puppets War heads: Ranger Heads Mercenary Heads Anyone have any experience with either?

  7. Hello brothers! I have (finally) decided to add my Primaris Marines to my existing Blood Angels forces. I have been trying out different upgrades, such as the Forge World BA helmets, but I will likely go ahead with the stock heads to help represent the 'new-ness' of the Primaris and armour. However, it raises the question of helmet colour and/or markings for the Lieutenants. I have had a look at the Rogue Trader era art, including Jes Godwyn sketches, but nothing to base it on there. I'd like Sergeants, the Ancient and the Captain to have gold helmets. The Ancient may have a Sanguinary Death Mask, but we'll see. The Lieutenants could also be gold, perhaps with a black or red stripe as per our Codex cousins. Another option is what I have mocked up in Photoshop below: So what do you think brother? Lieutenants helmet colour: Option 1: Red helmet with gold or black or gold&black stripe, as per image above. Option 2: Gold helmet with red or black or red&black stripe. Option 3: Gold helmet only. I thought these Primaris Marines from Den of Imagination looked very good, as do Agis Neugebauer's. They are the primary inspiration here. Gold helmets on Sergeants looked great on neonmole's Grim Dark Blood Angels.

  9. Thank you for the fast reply! It was the reviews of Scale75 that I was reading today that made me look at getting a complete set. I would definately pick up a thinner with them if I go that way. I do really like how Vallejo have a comprehensive set/system of everything though, that appeals to the collector in me!
  10. Hello all, Summary: I am trying to decide on a complete paint set between Scale75, Army Painter or Vallejo Game Colour/Air. Context: I have a birthiday coming up and it has been suggested by my wife that I get a complete paint set. I have built up my current collection of paints over the last 20 years from GW, Vallejo Model and Game, Army Painter and Darkstar Molten Metals. I have an air brush and generally only buy Vallejo Game Air paints now, I have about 30 or so now. I've had very good results with Army Painter recently, particularly the red for my Blood Angels, so I've been picking those up too. I've also read that Scale75 paints are pretty amazing, particularly the inks. So, back to the question, if I was to go out now and buy a complete box set of a paint set/range of 100+ paints, what range would get your vote? Thanks for any advice!
  11. I've been watching the information come out over the last day and I'm still excited for 8th. The reset for all factions feels good as we go into the new game. Excited to find out what works for the Sons of Sangunius. My only slight annoyance was to see that the list of units that can have the Blood Angel faction keyword was missing Land Speeder Storm, Stormhawk/talon and Cataphractii/Tartaros Terminators. However, now I'm digesting the army building rules a bit more, we can still include them in a Detachment with all other units as Blood Angels. The Land Speeder Storm, for example, could be given the <Chapter> Blud Angels and my Blood Angels Scouts could happily ride to war in it. Sure, the LSS won't benefit from any Blood Angel Faction specific buffs, but who cares? Or how about adding an Airwing detachment of Stormhawk Interceptors? Again, no buffs, but otherwise fine. That said, not being able to give Blood Angels faction to Cataphractii/Tartaros Terminators is a shame. Yes they can count-as Indomitus Terminators, but as a First Founding Legion it would have been nice to have them. I'm sure Dark Angels and Space Wolves think the same.
