  1. hmmm...seems like fraters like the smell of melta if this is the attitude. 11th edition isn't even out and we already go at each others throats, complaining over theory and no practice. We so far have 2 layouts out of...I don't know if they said how many...but considering I would think each deployment map will likely have 3 or so layouts each (which means, 18 maps and for 15 mission combinations that seems to check out) so non-starter there. We also don't know how missions work...for all we know, in that scenario that is exactly where you DON'T want to be with those marines as that might be free VP you just handed the enemy. We don't know fully how the melee changes will function as theory is one thing but since we don't have all the pieces to go with it we can only speculate. And missing pieces are plentiful. -sigh- I suppose the more things change the more things stay the same. But at least be polite, and civil to each other. The world is full of enough gloom and doom as it is...can we not just enjoy the hobby? Silly question...ofcourse not...plastic soldiers are super serious business...clearly worth the headache :P
  2. Look, no-one hates anything more than its own fans. Fan even hate their fellow fans...cursable fellow fraters...ruined the game for everyone.
  3. sitting here like...that is a really nice box with really nice models...but...if the units get nuked out of 40k then they are basically worthless because...lol 30k ;P (I know people play it but be real here, most people eyeing this for 40k). So a shame really. GW been getting on track with how to format their rules...now if they could get on track with how they communicate better!
  4. I actually burst out laughing about the Ad-Mech box when you see it after the marine box. Like...the marine one MUST be a different price point for sale because 2 rep-exes, redemptor and a ballistus. That is a banger of a box for anyone who wants to give their marines some firepower...and don't mind girly grav plates ;) The Knight one is fairly standard fair and always welcome to have some amount of discount for things. The Dominus class getting a chance to appear in one is good. And as much as the ad-mech one is fairly weedy...I do feel if you were to consider buying any of the boxes...the Admech one isn't actually bad (price not withstanding) if you can get 2 to 3 of it for a collection. Means you could have a good chunk of heavy armour for admech fairly quickly. But again...admech are comically the most powerful not against the enemies of mankind...but against our wallets!
  5. That is actually...kind of possible with how the camera focuses on the klaw though...only issue is width but I suppose tricks of the camera. The grot isn't concerned...he's locked in and letting loose with the gun he's mounted on which is funny because he's mounted on some hanging mount for the gun. Starting to look a lot less like March and more like Mork!
  6. Someone pointed something out...why does the Warrior with lash have talons that hit harder than the Norns? (norns I think were 7,2,2 and the warrior one is 8,2,3).
  7. I think they should focus on hitting the gym with that basic str 4 those guys can hardly lift their axes let alone skulls for the skull god!
  8. Incorrect, vehicles do get to fire pistols alongside everything. The rule states that a unit equipped with pistol weapons UNLESS THEY ARE VEHICLE OR MONSTER must pick between pistol weapons and normal weapons. It is why morty gets to fire his pistol alongside his psychic attacks. The oddity here is we haven't had many vehicles with pistols...because the rule is redundant as big guns never tire in effect give all their weapons pistol by proxy. So melta man is garbage and the one to take the heat first for the duo as his fusion is just straight trash however the Ion guy, now we're talking. They do pack quite some punch in ranged, even bringing back a tau classic of move shoot move as retro-thrusters isn't if you were fighting AND ITS NOT ONCE PER ROUND. These guys could be shmoving fast. Heck, Ret Cad could see these two just going miles across boards if they wanted, similar with mont'ka. The ion cannon profile is quite competitive for the weight class, the melta one is alright and is at least strength 10 but melta 2 with 2 shots is kinda anemic. And how is their melee not good? For tau that melee is actually kind of cracked...the 2 of them are throwing 8 strength 6 ap 1 damage 2 attacks around just base. Not clearing hordes but marines won't exactly be tying them up for free. These guys are certainly looking interesting to take. Certainly a possible take alongside an etheral in mont'ka builds just because they are kind of...stacked? In Mont'Ka, these guys could scout 8", then advance with auto 6 another 16" so now they just went 24" across the board and then afterwards could just position to hide behind some buildings with that 6" move at the end of the fight phase. Opponent could go for a charge on them but with their shield gear they could be hard to tag and with free 6" fall back whenever they feel after a fight phase you will have to wrap them VERY securely to not let them get away. They are a little fragile, T6 and only 8 wounds isn't exactly tough to crack BUT it is 16 wounds total to chew through with a minor damage gating between them and with a 2+ save, they aren't too vulnerable to chaff fire ether. Edit: and with their NATIVE 2+ ballistic skill, guiding them is still good as you can go to BS1+ which effectively makes them immune to any attempts to distort their shooting via smoke or such.
  9. Alright...so the real acid test: how many of these will get to have 40k rules vs. being a soft-removal to being 30k only things. Would love to see these for 40k and be a start at a breaking down of the garden walls between the games.
  10. Yea, looks like that's the source of the model then. And without the potato cam to hide it...the paintwork is nothing close to GWs standards so yea...looks like a nice model someone made and decided to have a bit of a lark with it and to their credit did pretty well. Not perfect but good enough to get people going.
  11. Those new suits look amazing. I hope we see more of those kind of designs for tau in 11th. However while I don't mind locked poses for characters, hoping that if we do get update battlesuit kits for 11th, that we retain or even get even more posing to them.
  12. I mean...with how they've been bringing things back and each one does remarkably well...battlefleet Gothic feels like it would just hit home real nice. Now...only question is how long until Mordheim returns?
  13. And looking at it...there is some confliction here and likely I got something mixed in here however XV is certainly not Tau, they would refer to them as Her'ex'vre which seems in some lore to be the reason for the XV naming as that is what imperials go by. So my original statement stands wrong as I said number doesn't matter but it does but they don't call them XV (Unless you consider their calling it Her'ex'vre counts as that). So fair play but if my number "aktully" is wrong, then my look at it then throws it back there too. We'll call it all square there I think and agree the new suits look cool yea?
  14. Reminder: the tau don't designate their suits with numbers. That is the Imperium that does that, XV stands for Xenos Vehicle and the numbers relate to the imperiums sighting and classification of these suits. Tau call them different things, notably I believe crisis suits are called something like "mantle of heroes" or something in their language. So Crisis suit and such is just what the Imperium short hands them as. However this has likely fallen on the wayside by GW who likely also forgot what XV meant...surprised we don't have an VWXYZ-Tsunami Warsuit by now. The ABC-Undertow Stealth Striker. However these new stealth suits do have an odd side effect: anyone notice stealth suits just up and vanished from the GW store? Please GW...don't kill tau by getting rid of the only good marker unit we have...let us keep the current style of squad and just add these as a unique variant of the squad.
  15. I would change all the things that have been the way they are because we all hate how things are now. I would undo all the things that were changed from what they always were because we all hate change. ...wait... Personally if I got to just chuck one thing in the bucket: Ynnari. They were clearly meant to be the new in all in one faction for the Aeldari when we were going to Age of 40k like how fantasy did with sigmar but because of how that went down, they hard pivoted away and now the Ynnari are no longer really anything. All the markers for being such is there, hence why they were inclusive of all aeldari. I theorise that the plan was for there to be a second chaos wake where the eye of terror ripped open with Slannesh making a play for power to win the game but was contained and defeated by the actions of the ynnari who would then go on to be the last survivors of the Aeldari kind as it took the combined efforts of the entire race to not be consumed by Slannesh. They would likely go on to be a faction with notable clout among the alliance of order equal within this time-line but rarely seen fighting on any front. However as it stands now, they are just another faction that is just a dead-end who had all these major end-game plot devices to go find but we now know that something like 2-3 of them are now well long gone beyond their grips and so is a just a faction that exists for a time-line that never was. By all measures, I would like to just put the terminus decree back in the box. The thing about those things is they are better when they aren't known what they are. Think Pulp Fiction, we never knew what was in the case, all we needed to know was it was important. Since things come in threes, a last one: Yarrick's death. Not because he should be immortal, but because they fridged him. Off screen, no ceremony. No grand battle...no last stand against Ghaz. Nope, apparently he is some trophy for Angron now. Personally I love the short comic someone made of Angron meeting Ghaz: "You're going to die over a human?" "Someone iz!"
