  1. My list: Dante Corbulo Lemartes Tycho 2 chaplains (2nd Ed) 10 2nd ed DC 10 newer metal DC 5 SG (unboxed) 2nd ed dread 20 2nd ed Tac marines 10 2nd ed Space Hulk Termies New SH termies 2 metal captains 7-8 3rd ed devs 15 ASMs 10 vanguard vets 3 bikes Landspeeder Baal pred Tri-las pred Land raider 10 metal scouts 2 assassins Basically my whole army, except Mephy and my old Honour Guard who I think are now illegal anyway (and which I didn't paint). Unlikely to be touched soon either. Focusing on Orks at the moment and want to try and get at least some skills with the brush before I attempt my BA so I can hopefully do them justice
  2. Those killsaws look mean! Proper rippy... As a jump pack aficionado from the start I would say you can never have too many stormboyz

    Gazhnikk's Orks

    Orks from Waagh Gazhnikk
  4. Interested in this change. Never really gone for combi weapons and never thought about sternguard but this could tip me into getting some.
  5. Am I missing something or could this have been solved with a limit of 1IC attached to any squad (and therefore only allowing one set or buffs)? Going to miss my old faithful habit of having Dante or a captain going in the midst of the Honour Guard squad (though presumably they can still de facto be part of it by staying next to the squad)
  6. Liking GW's idea of how to represent MC and super heavies stat-wise. Gives guys like me with a shortage of anti-armour half a chance. Though on the flip side if some runty little Guardsman took out one of my tanks I would be less than impressed.
  7. Also a fan of these. I'd like to get some myself. I know I've seen them, just can't remember where. Any chance of a pointer?
  8. Kinstryfe that shield conversion is one of my favourite things in this whole thread. Simple but I love the aesthetic. Good luck to all who entered :)
  9. Great job all round, especially on Ahriman. One of the best painted minis I've seen in a while. Kudos
  10. Just read this end to end. Amazing evolution over the years Xenith. Some really great ideas that give me food for thought with blinging up my very old collection of models. Love the little nods to 2nd ed though. Takes me back
  11. Kierdale that's awesome! Out of interest is the kitbash challenge going to be an annual event? I'm interested in joining a future one. Don't think my current bits box gives me much scope for this and I certainly don't have time to do it justice. I do have plans for acquiring some box sets later this year when budget allows, to convert existing squads and maybe get some practice for next time round.
  12. Due to my absence of painting skills my list of shame is quite large. The only models I have finished are Dante + his HG, Meph, Lemartes, Corbulo. Unfinished as follows: Captain (was a freebie with 3rd ed. box set on its release) 2 termie squads 2nd ed. dread 10 2nd ed. DC + chaplain; 10 JP DC 10 scouts 40 tac marines incl. 20 from 2nd Ed box. (10 in a custom camo style almost done though) 10 vanguard 15 ASMs 10 Devs including some old 2nd ed guys LR (at least it's red though) Baal and regular pred Landspeeder 4 bikers + a load of extras like vet sarges, guys with alternate wargear etc. And that's not counting a horde of Orks including 2nd ed box guys, Space Hulk stealers (think it was 2nd ed SH) and 3rd ed. box DE. On the plus side I inherited a load of bits from a former 'Eavy metal painter including 10 amazing Legion of the damned and some great scenery.
  13. I'm glad you noted that. Yes, they require less conversion but you can still look very BA with stock models; on the other hand you can really go to town with the conversions and get away with it, still having a coherent army. I started playing in 2nd ed. Bought a box of 6 tac marines, who were painted as Ultra-smurfs, because to me back then, marines were marines, blue, red, green or whatever. Then I got space hulk and read a bit about BA, which got me thinking. What really swung me though was the 2nd ed 40k box set, with the 2nd Armageddon War story book. The story of how they thrashed the Orks almost single-handedly made choosing BA a no-brainer. Never looked back since. Have Orks as a side project, but my BA are, all in all, about 3500k worth of points. Just a pity that, after 12 years in 40k, I've still not properly painted any of them; I suck mightily with the brush, but love conversion work. Just finished modelling my 10-man VASM squad. Oh hi by the way, I'm a newbie here :)
