  1. Why no airbrush? You can get a compressor+airbrush kit for a reasonable price these days. Otherwise, multiple thin layers with a brush, spray cans or contrast paints
  2. So, typically, Frontline Gaming is bigging up the changes to Blood Angels "These are looking very solid, the Red Thirst especially is simply amazing and helps to make Blood Angels one of the premiere assault armies in the game. Some of the combos they can pull out of their hate creates just deadly combatants." I'm not on board the hyperbole train just yet. BA needed a few things - increased damage in combat, reliable ways of getting to combat, increased resilience (or points drop) and methods of getting around the problems with assault in 8th ed. Red thirst helps with damage output, and I'm still waiting to see if anything happens with the other problems. We'll see I guess.
  3. People need to look outside the fluff for Primaris. GW is re-booting the Marine model line, but doing it slowly after lessons learnt with WFB/AoS. Expect in the next few years the trad marine kits to be phased out and replaced by a Primaris version
  4. Pretty much. BA needed improvements to the way assault and jump packs work from the core 8th ed rules. In the end assault got worse, whilst jump packs got better for shooting units only. The new codex rules have not only got to overcome these problems, they've also got to drop points and/or increase the durability of BA units whilst also increasing attack power. The codex needs to be more revolutionary rather than evolutionary. Sick and tired of being out assaulted by Space Wolves to be honest.
  5. A return to 5th ed era unit specific psychic powers (Astral Aim, Warp Quake etc) would help to differentiate the units. GW don't seem to want to go this way though, perhaps unit specific stratagems instead ?
  6. I'm waiting for the new codex before deciding what to do with my BA. It's GWs last chance saloon to get them right.
  7. I haven't played 8th with GK yet, so take the following with a pinch of salt It still feels as though most of the codex is junk, which is disappointing when GW promised so much with this edition. I can see a list with Strikes/Interceptors, Razorbacks, GMNDK(s), a Stormraven ? That's about it ? No GK special weapons as they're all junk ?
  8. After seeing how powerful the Ultra and Raven Guard chapter tactics are, it better not be Furious Charge again.
  9. I think there's also probably a bit of bitterness that GW didn't ask them to playtest, and getting digs in at Reecius/Frontline Gaming I don't think anyone is expecting perfect balance, I would of been happy with the level of balance in 5th ed for instance. We more or less got that, but the detachments ruin it
  10. Spot on. Dropping jumpers turn1 hoping for a charge is suicide. Advance Rhinos/Twin HF Razors/Flamestorm Baals up the table turn 1 to set up for your jumpers dropping in turn 2. Fluffed charge rolls aren't so bad if your vehicles are tying up your opponents units. I don't think jump BA work without vehicles
  11. I'd definitely recommend investing in an airbrush and compressor at some point in the future. You can pick up unbranded chinese airbrush/compressor kits for around £80 on ebay. I bought one five years ago and still going strong.
  12. This stems from the Avatar of Khaine's FNP-like ability specifying 'Wounds' AND 'Mortal Wounds'. The Wulfen's ability (and most other FNP equivalents) say 'Wounds' only The GW faction focus seems to imply it's rare that the Avatar can ignore Mortal Wounds "’d be remiss, though, not to mention the man himself: the Avatar of Khaine. With an ability that means he can even ignore some mortal wounds,"
  13. Iyanden. One of first minis was the old metal Eldar Dreadnought, and it's great to put their modern equivalent back on the tabletop now they're decent.
  14. He does mean Wraithlords ;) List was Spiritseer 5x Wraithguard w/ D-Scythes Wraithlord w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons, 2x Shuriken Pistols, Sword Wraithlord w/ 2x Starcannon, 2x Shuriken Pistols, Sword Wraithlord w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons, 2x Shuriken Pistols, Sword HDL is a jammy git when rolling 3++ saves ;) Took multiple Smites to take Arjac down after being in combat with 3 Wraithlords for 2(3?) turns @Immersturm Wulfen still seem incredibly powerful, survivable and strong damage output. Was a good match between them and the D-Scythe Wraithguard.
  15. No. On average it takes nine Lascannons to blow up a Rhino. Worst case scenario - Lascannon moved, Rhino popped smoke, in terrain - it takes 21 Lascannons on average to blow up a Rhino I think people are going to have a really hard time dealing with mech spam unless they have Melta out the wazoo
