Blackadder

I've decided to assemble this Titan to see where I am regarding painting. I've already run into problems with the greaves as I painted over the penciled assembly remarks. Ha! The images below show the gold clad statuary which I may or not use in the final construction. Either way I'll make the removable as a option during display.

The first thing I modeled for this Titan was the helmet/cockpit. Here it is seven years later and I finally worked up the courage to finally paint it...

OMG; so many parts!!! I'm hoping I can remember where all the parts go.

Yeah, Painting the whole structure with Flat Black Primer was quite a chore. Not being ambidexterous I wore out my right index finger in the hours it took to completely cover the surface areas. Twice in fact as there were areas that needed a second coat. This is not counting the areas that needed to be masked off that didn't require the Flat Black but required Flat Grey or Gold or Gloss Red. There are about 100 subassembies that needed to be painted seperately also.

Well it's 3 months since I posted and I managed to paint the whole titan with black primer. Masked off all of the super structure that would be painted gold and hand rubbed with Aluminum powder all the internal structures that will be visible when the titan is finally assembled. The image below is the corner bastions and the rear of the structure. The front of the structure with the two metre cannon still has the blue masking tape on it and is ready for the gold paint. That should be painted later today as I write.

Geez, it's been two months since I last posted.I look at this thing and wonder when I'll be able to find the time to work in it againBut yesterday I bit the bullet and began masking the citadel four corner bastionsI'm rather disappointed in the leg armourIt looks cartoonish. Yes , I plan to dry brush the Ossuaries with Bone White and Nuln Oil Shade. My big project now is to spray paint all the myriad pieces with flat black paint. Followed by hand rubbing the black with graphite and aluminum powder the same as I did with my Warlord. see below... Then apply dark blue shading powder and wash to the blackened areas.

Doldrums: Occasionally I get in the doldrums and wonder if this thing will ever be completed. But then something like today happens where I seemingly can do no wrong. I started out to see where I could go as far as making windows for the bastions. I did a google search for stained glass windows and ended up with these. A bit of resizing with my antique photo editing program And Walla (sic) stained glass windows reinforced with clear packing tape and we're in business. Martini time!

Hmm, I don't think I deserve it but there seems like I've been missed over the past few months. Thanks to all for keeping this tread alive. Aside from the mishaps with my user name and password. I had not the energy to post the current work when it really didn't show all the fine detail I was doing. Tiny bit and pieces and cutting back areas in conflict with other pieces. Earlier this week I bit the bullet and applied paint to the lower works; legs, feet, knee armour Etc. What the hey; I also applied gold paint to the upper works...

Yeah, it doesn't look like much now with just the primer paint basecoat but the detail painting should make it pop

Finally!!! I lost all my passwords and access to all my forums which is considerably attenuated since the beginning of this year. This morning I finally got into B&C and am able to post. So here are the current images with paint primer I primed both lower leg shields with red primer and hardly used any of the can. Both feet and the backs of the knee shield likewise. The paint reveals building indiscretions which I'll chalk up to battle damage. Not at all that unusual for a machine that's millennia old.

No need to be sad. There is plenty more detail/building that needs to be done. The internal magazines, the cloister gardens, in fact all of the upper galleries have to be sheathed and detailed. And don't forget the two main weapons still need their decorative shielding. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the two "doors to nowhere ..." situated above the reactor cooling cores. These will line up with the maintenance bridges when the titan is in the repair gantry. Yeah, I've got a lot to do still. I just need to put some paint on the finished parts to maintain my enthusiasm and sanity.

Thousands of Bits of Plastic Literally thousands of bits of plastic added since last I posted and d*mn me if I can see a difference overall. I've carried out the closely spaced chest high crenellations theme to protect the combatants and added doors, ossuaries and scroll of departed crew members since the Titan was first constructed thousands of years ago. https://i.imgur.com/iHpNIwG.jpg There's still a tremendous amount of detail to be added to make this construct pop.
