[Artwork] 'Libris Primaris'
Brother_Kaelgrim replied to Aerion the Faithful's topic in + ARTISANS' WORKSHOP +
Yet another fantastic rendition of one of the Primarchs. I think you really nailed Alph/Omegon and I love the way you angled the heads. Also, did you put a different style of shoulderpad on each cause the background brother seems to have a different design entirely than the foreground brother. -

Pick up Helsreach or Soul Hunter. Or anything by Abnett. You'll change your mind. -

Blood Raven veteran idea
Brother_Kaelgrim replied to Validar's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES / LOYALIST LEGIONES ASTARTES +
Aye. The blue might work well, but I think that might be a bit Crimson Fist-esque. Up to you though. .....darnit now I want to do a Viva Metallic blue and red Blood Ravens Veteran XD -
Blood Raven veteran idea

White robes with red armor seems like it would work very well, though I might recommend a cream or bone color for the robes as well. I like the concept though -

I love it. I could picture the chapter as I read those beliefs, huge feats, breaking of grudge stones, forging their chainmail, I could easily visualize this and the marines behind the scene from just the beliefs section. Very well done B)

Night Lords 18th Battle Company (Treadhead)
Brother_Kaelgrim replied to Dan The Deamon's topic in + ARTISANS' WORKSHOP +
Ya metallics seem to work fine for me straight out of the pot, maybe with a drop of water mixed in with a brush if it gets globby. Looks like wet pallet for NM and pot for Metallic? As to your models, I like the darker scheme but it makes the model seem a little....uniform if that makes sense. Like there are a few areas that could use just a tad lighter tone to make them stand out a bit more, unless your going to for the dark shadowy figure (Which is perfectly fitting for a Night Lord) Keep up the good work man! -

Ah I see, thats one reason I've stuck with metallics and washes due to metallics going on very evenly and smoothly straight out of the pot while my other colors are either too thin and don't cover evenly or glop on terribly. -

I love how your paintjob has a very soft, smooth tone to it. The colors seem very natural and I'm curious as to how you achieve that. Paintbrush, airbrush, thinned paints, or ? -

Review of Hammer of Daemons GK Novel
Brother_Kaelgrim replied to Walter Payton's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
One thing that I've always walked away from a Ben Counter book with is the feeling of Grand Ideas/Failed Delivery. For example, if I had been at the meeting where Counter pitched the idea for Hammer of Daemons (A grey knight surviving on a daemon world revolving around gladiatorial combat) I would have gone HELL YA! and got him to writing it. Reading the actual implementation of that idea in book form? Not as impressed. Which is why I sincerely hope ADB writes GKs soon, as I loved Soul Hunter sooooo much. (And I'm not even a Night Lords fan!) Honestly I would like to see Ben Counter get a job as more of the idea man, he comes up with cool idea then hands it to awesome author who can do it. Or something. -
Now that I've viewed it in sidebar format.......is there any way I could coerce you into writing a bit more for the Wyrms Lysimachus? :D You really nailed em.
-
I kind of like Lysimachus' better to be honest B)
