Is a large blob of walking Wolf Guard Terminators competitive? Hi, I am just getting my 8 year old son into wargaming, and I am making him a list based primarily off the combat patrols and the units floating round cheaply from the leviathan box. We play Legions Imperialis (again, Space Wolves for him) and his favourite bits are 'robots and drop pods'. Here is the list: Lieutenant in Reiver armour + 10x hounds of Morkai Librarian in Phobos armour + 3 eliminators with las-fusils 10 intercessors in a drop pod 10 intercessors in a drop pod 10 infernus marines in a drop pod Invictor tactical warsuit with autocannon Invictor tactical warsuit with autocannon Ballistus dreadnaught (1500 points) Is this a reasonable place for him to start from in building a collection? Or is this just a liability that would get annihilated the first time he plays against anyone who won't go easy on him like I will? Thanks for the advice - I would also like some ideas about what to buy next, or where to expand from here. No resin, plastic only for him as he is still young. if you want to put weathering on tanks, here is the process i follow: 1) Paint tank flat colour 2) Wash the tank with 'nuln oil', with patches of 'chestnut ink' 3) Dab with tissue 4) Highlight the edges with original colour 5) Use 'rhinox hide' and a sponge, and dab it over the tank. Thicker on places that accumulate rust. 6) paint black chips along edges, and then fill in with grey (not boltgun metal) to make paint chips. 7) final patchy wash of 'ogryn flesh' That makes you tanks look really crapy, rusty and beaten up - if that is the look you want. If you want them to look new, you still need to wash them as the paint colour as it stands is far too flat and unrealistic I think. Sorry to be punchy, I like the tanks, but I think they need to look dirtier.

They are beautiful... But so clean! It's like they actually clean their tanks with toothbrushes and Cilit Bang.

I wanted a codex that I could use to make a chapter of incompetent redneck-rage marines who apart from having awesome flametanks and big chainswords, are utterly crap at anything that ivolves rational thought but awesome at anything that involves the verb 'smash'. I don't use the fancy-pants emo stuff, like winged sanguinary guard :) but all the angry stuff in the BA codex is right up my street. Plus - LR redeemer and tri-flamer baal predators, backed up by a whirlwind firing incendiaries - there can be no more fire than that.
