    The Lion!

    Maybe in a small group of thinking, but I'm happy to see Inner Circle nerfed. I joined 40k when the DA codex was a thin little "magazine" of a codex, black & white entries, long before all the armies had to have insane rules to matter. My group played armies for the look and fluff, so I hope this weeds out the meta-chasers, and for myself, I missed this era of rules thanks to health reasons, so I won't even miss it, ha ha! Are powerful rules nice? No doubt, but some of my best games were with a sub-optimal book, with "vanilla" Deathwing rules, greenwing, and a prayer to the Emperor. I never, ever thought I'd see the day a Primarch came back, let alone the Lion himself after decades of GW teasing it in some little paragraph. I'm just happy to see the setting move forward, the Lion being active again means more than his TT rules. Maybe a waste of a post, so apologies brothers and feel free to ignore, but I feel the focus on rules in current 40k has eclipsed narrative, fun, or playing for the sake. Some don't have a choice, game-shop players bring net-lists, etc, but I am looking forward to 10th and the major changes coming. For better or worse, the Dark Angels are the First, For the Lion!
  2. @Papa That Baal looks fantastic thus far, really impressed with all the good shades and highlighting, but it'll really shine with those details coming! @Xmercx Very wicked model there, that's one Priest you'd never want to meet on the field for sure, cool concept for sure.
  3. Wow, that Chaplain looks incredible!! I really hope after reading up these tutorials to improve to half that good; quite inspiring presence he's got! :)
  4. I'm wanting to learn to do good highlight/detail work but for now out of fear of ruining them, I've done everything on my level of skill so far! Nothing near what I've seen posted by my Brethren here, but here is my completed Vow group of a Rhino, Astorath, and 5 Sternguard! (Apologies, not a great camera size so I had to scrunch! :P )
  5. @Snorri I have to fanboy at you, I've been following your other thread and your vows here, and you're skills really make our Angel proud and I've gotten inspiration out of your work for mine (not to say others here are any less awesome!), but the freehands and level of yours are quite amazing, please keep it up as an aspiration lowers like myself. @Taranis. If you do decide to choose one, I'd go with number of vows also instead of points, but just my small input to say so. :)
  6. Sorry for not posting in a while, been busy, but, only in death does duty end! I've got a small progress update that shows a Rhino, 3 of 5 Sternguard, and The Redeemer himself, in later stages of (slow staged) work! ^ ^;
  7. Hopefully not too late, alarm-clock in my sarcophagus is out! I'm really excited to try my hand at this, so if it's permissible, ahem: I, Brother-Kanis of the proud Blood Angels, vow on the honour of the Primarch Sanguinius and of the Ninth Legion to paint and present a Combat-Squad of Sternguard, Astorath our esteemed High-Chaplain, and a Rhino APC, before the 30th of November. I will present pictures of my progress in this forum. I vow to bear the CARCERES IRA badge in my signature, should I fail to complete my pledge. May Sanguinius guide my paint brush.
