I've been looking for a new 'go to' black paint since Vallejo changed their formula and having seen good reviews picked up a pot of P3's 'Thanatar black', but its absolutely abysmal, I've tried a long shake, I've put it on the vortex mixer and I've squeezed out all that was in the tube tip, but it still gives a coverage comparable to a heavy Nuln oil - Has anyone else experienced this with theses paints? is there something I'm missing?

It might be a controversial take, but apart from the well established units and named Characters, I'd rather get more minis like Karlaen and the Lt, who are 'this is an ornately sculpted Blood Angels version of a legal character set up, but don't add any new rules', than get 'here is new character, here is his new datasheet and his new rules' I don't need balancing and rules workloads to get heavier, I just like nice models. -

A smaller vow for July as I'm starting a bit late and I have some Old World bits I want to progress too. A Consul and five breachers for my HH BA three more LI terrain bits, One sprue of LI Saturnine (command, 3 bases of termies and 2 dreads)

That is a nice kit - Potentially you could consider using the backpack icon thingies as mace heads for crozarius?
-
Bah, the heatwave has really hammered me this month, I did have some stuff done at the weekend but I wanted to finish the cranes too before posting and just missed the 'in time' sign off. LI terrain and carry over Vindicators, along with the 'not sanctifiers' - I'm hoping to get the cataphracts done by this weekend as just some work to do on the weapons, the sabres struggled again...
-
Do big tanky things get to shoot more weapons at once?
Cleon replied to Rowland's topic in + WARHAMMER 40,000 GAME +
One quick other point - watch out for weapons with alternate profiles, as they can only fire one or the other, not both. -
Bit Late starting June, so we'll see how badly I fail this month. Carrying over 8 LI tanks (4 Vindicator, 4 Sabre) Then adding: 6 Cataphractii Terminators 2 bits box models that fit in with last months Sanctifiers 12 bits of LI scatter terrain (8 containers, 4 storage tanks) 3 LI cranes (to go on top of the towers completed a couple of months ago.

One last bit that was close enough to completion that I didn't want to bother posting it for June - getting the core Blackstone terrain set finished.
-
The Heatwave the hit the UK for the last third of May hit my progress to a crawl, especially on the smaller scale stuff, but I'd got enough of a start in early that I'm only rolling over the 8 LI tanks and one piece of BSF terrain. Additional Completions, the Traitor guard, the remaining Sanctifiers (plus group shot), the HH tacticals (and with their squad mates) and the BSF terrain I got done.

So, if I'm understanding correctly - bit a is attached only by magnet, but there is no way to pull it off the magnet? If so, one option is 'Magnets!' if you can get a strong enough magnetic field of the alternate polarity behind it, it will push it off - this will be tricky if you've used a strong magent as magnetic force weakens with distance and the other plastic bits will be in the way. If there's too much distance behind the magnet blocked by the model, you might be able to get it to pop off by running it along the side, probably best not to do from the front as the little rockets could get scratched or bent potentially if squished between the magnets.

So I'd go for the following (but it's just my opinion based on the tiering above, in my head I'd have the four tiers below): Tier 1, Chapter-Masters: Relic Weapons Tier 2, Captains (and head chaplains, chief Librarians): Artificer Weapons Tier 3, Lieutenants (Chaplains, Librarians and Ancients): Master-crafted Weapons Tier 4, Veterans and some Sergeants: Special-issue Weapons (i.e bolters with the sternguard ammo selectors, general issue power weapons) Tier 5, Sergeants and line troops: Astartes-Issue Weapons Personally I'd have four tiers: Tier 1, 'Relic Weapons' - These are very limited, given to the Chapter Master, the head Librarian, head Chaplain, 1st Captain and some of the line captains - one (or if a first founding Chapter, maybe 3 or 4) might be 'Primarch Relics', others are Tier 2 weapons of notable age or quality or that survived key moments in the Chapters past. Tier 2, 'Artificer Weapons' - These are the very best that can currently be made, although very slowly and in limited numbers, given to the remaining Captains who didn't get Relics and the noteworthy Chaplains and Librarians, possibly the Chapter Champion/ancient too. Tier 3, 'Master Crafted Weapons' - These are a mix of a low number of 'better made, but not artificer' weapons and in some cases (Chapters of Salamander, Iron Hands, Blood Angels origins) the weapons veterans/Lieutenants have been maintaining/improving/fighting with personally for centuries, perfectly attuned to that specific Marine Tier 4, 'Astates-Issue Weapons' - A weapon that any Guardsman, Sister or Noble would be blessed to own, crafted to higher standards than 99% of humanities armoury, but still, standard issue to a Space Marine.
