I got myself a termite! What to put in it? Thinking veterans with heavy flamers, a combi or 2 and some power weapons. Or a support squaf with flamers and ccw Or a heavy suppory with heavy flamers... Or a pyroclast squad.. I will also have a drop pod with dread and a dreadclaw with firedrakes ;) -

What do we think about the following: Termite with 5-10 heavy support heavy flamers with a pyromancy librarian for support. I'm also considering pyroclasts for better saves, tactical support with flamers for scoring or breachers for scoring and defense. -

True. Except that meltaguns arent any more powerful for us than others when we do not run CoF. But the extra strenght on flamers can be cool. Heavy flamers poddig in near mechanicus units or s5 flamers podding near militia will cause quite a bit of havoc. -

It's funny, I read that so often when people talk about why they like their Chapter. Mainly about Salamanders, Blood Angels and Ultramarines (well maybe they won't die for them as much but they actually make sure they can live a proper life unlike most other Chapters, Blood Angels included). :D I guess at some point in the past most chapers got some line dropped like "unlike other chapters they don't see normal humans as below themselves yadda yadda" to make them special snowflakes and now that so many have that, it's become rather normal if you read more than just your own chapters fluff. :D Anyway, looking forward to your Salamanders. Great start with the shield. Maybe the flame is a bit too big for my taste but it's hard to judge without paint. ;) There is a difference between salamanders and other chapters. Salamanders live amongst their mortal citizens. They care because theybsee it as their duty to fight for the common man. Many ultramarines do not see it this way. They see themselves as superior to mortals. They fight for an imperium and themselves. Sure they do not butcher their mortal citizens or treat them actively as fodder/scum, but they certainly do not fight out of respect for the common man. Space wolves and blood angels are quite similar. They view mortals as weak. But theyvhave grudging respect for those that fight. Wether that is aspiring recruits or mortal guardsmen they fight alongside. But neither fights for the common man. Space wolves fight out of honour and hatred for the enemy. Must admit i do not know enough about blood angels. But salamanders fight specifically out of duty to protect the common man. That is where they find honour. -

Im in similar position.. I stopped readin somewhere around mark of calth. Cant remember exactly. I do think abnett writes humans by far the best. Few other writers can captivatr me as much as he fid with gaunts ghost for example. I liked know no fear for the most part, except the instant plot device. But i think he portrayed astarted fairly decent, but certainly not his best. I have a love hate relation ship with mcneills work. I enjoy most of it. But i have never read any of his books twice (unlike gaunts ghost and almost all books of my favorite). Speaking of which. Adb. Love. Everything. He writes. Because of that you will rarely cet an unbiased opinion from me. If adb write it, i reaf it and i love it. Standouts are the NL series (love septimus), legion, betrayer and the emperors gift. Oh.. And ragnar blackmane. All awesome. I hated blood of asaheim, which made me avoid wraight for a long time. But last year i picked up a few books by him (leman russ and one other) and devoured them. His depictions of the wolves are interesting and appreciable. Now the bad stuff. Kyme, thorpe and swallow. I just cant stand any of it. I hated those books. And still do. Kymes books tend to be way to mythical, fantastical and just wrong. Wrong in the sense that they just dont make sense. I never feel like his books sit in the same universe as gaunts ghosts or soul hunter. There is a disconnect i cant overcome. I can normally read past minor influences of authors interpretations but not here. Thorpe ruined the lion for me. When i read the angels books, the lion got descriped as if a random brat got super powers, and smashed heads whenever people disagreed. Luckily the leman russ book by wraight has redeemed the lion for me, but i will not pick up an astartes book by thorpe ever again. Swallow. I just dislike his way of writing. I find it hard to follow and often have to reread parts in order to fully understand what actually happens. It doesnt help that his stories are just uninteresting at times, because, lile kyme, he tries to make the heroes interesting by putting them in grandiose scenes. Like librarian part and sanguunis in fear to thread, or the main character and plot in his 40k ba books. In general i like adb because his heroes are heroes (of sorts) because of how they handle "normal" situations. His characters rarely require a world shattering event to be interesting. In night lords i liked first claw and found the stpry captivating, because of the characters interacting with each other, and dealing with regular missions. Not because the fate of the world was in their hands. And that is exactly where kyme and swallow go way off. Kyme with his salamander novels where individual heroes are way to importany to galaxy spanning events. Swallow those the same. So yeh thats my 2 cents. -
What’s with all the bad battle reports lately?

Thats most likely because of another thing in the arms race that is common, rapier phospex quad launchers. So bringing more PA infantry isn't really going to help in that case. -

But i think a lot of people played 30k, because they were tired of the imbalance in 40k. That, and that 30k became a lot more accessable due to Calth and Prospero plastic boxes. It also shared most of the same rules. So it was relatively easy and "cheap" to get into 30k and play some fun games. That also evolved into 30k becoming maybe more competetive orientated? Maybe. In any case, now a lot of people simply moved on. 8th is out, and it is a decent system, and you can play against a more varied set of armies. My point being is that i think that the 30k buzz simply went back to pre-betrayal at calth. People still play it, and certainly more than others, but content producers simply moved on to the system that is current, and regulary updated (which makes for far less repetetive content). Sadly so.. But my hope is that MWG will put out an actual proper Heresy campaign. They have the models, and it would be awesome, as they do some nice campaigns. (i dont really care about the more competive or power gamey vids. -

I recommend checking out the30kchannel. I wish they dished out batreps more often, but i enjoy watching them. They seem to be thematic, and not really power gamey. -
You are entirely right. My bad. Well thats that problem solved :)
