  5. Thanks for the feedback everyone. When I started painting these I had absolutely no intention of actually gaming with them but now one of my friends has started collecting green skins so + PURGE THE XENOS SCUM + O.k to answer some of the feedback so far:- Thanks fella I do like this symbol however it is a total pain in the + EXPUNGED FROM RECORD + to paint also it looks good on a tank but as its so skinny would posibly suit something more like those pointy ear eldar scum not the Emperors finest. In my not so complete history of the brothers of Isis this is one of the original tribal symbols from Fiori the planet in the Helios system that the legion draft the recruits from. Thank you so much for your kind words mate and hello to you over the pond! Man would I love an American car or just to be able to walk in to my local store and buy a 3 Muskateers bar when ever I want :) . To answer your painting questions ... No air brush and most of squad Tethis #1 were fully brush painted but this is very time consuming!!!!! All of these figures started with a Skull White spray from G.W, if you want true bright colours this is the best way to go. Then I make a mix of Blazing Orange + Sunbirst Yellow + Skull White + Water. Dont forget to add the water as it keeps the paint dilute to aid flow and when dry if you have applied it in thin layers it wont obscure detail ( this step I now do with the spray gun and I add even more water ) Then I add more Sunbirst Yellow to my first mix a add a blended highlight to all raised surfaces. The highlighting continues like this progrsivley adding more Sunbirst Yellow until you are working with just Sunbirst Yellow this takes lots of time. You can now add a mix of the original orange mix + Bestial Brown + Water to all recesses e.g between armour plates, flex tubing etc. Now push in a final highlight of Sunbirst Yellow + Skull White to the very top/edge of raised surfaces the rest is a peice of + EXPUNGED FROM RECORD + and should be a doddle. Let me know how you get on ;) No probs mate its easy all scratches are Chaos Black paint and then when its dry apply any Metalic colour in the middle of it leaving a small amount of the Chaos Black to show as a key line around the outside of the scratch. The soot is just Chaos Black gently drybrushed around vents. And the hard bit is the dirt thrown off the tracks and pooled around the bottom of the armour for this you will need Tamiya weathering powder ( various different shades are available ) Acrylic thinner and Graveyard Earth paint. Take an OLD brush and make a mix of Graveyard Earth and Thinner ( needs to be thin enough to run like dirty water ) then take a cocktail stick and scrape a good amount of Weathering powder in to your mix make sure you have some good size grains of the powder in it mix it in to a mucky paste and add it to your tank. Then take an even older brush and cut the top of the bristles off to leave you with some short stiff bristles still atached then using your newly made flicking tool flick the mucky paste up around the areas that would get hit with flying dirt. Practise with something you dont care about first and you should be on to a winner ;). Then seal it all in with some Purity Seal. Thanks fella you are right about the bone colour blending in but thats the idea ;) . basicly it means you can add another colour in to the mix and shade it with colours that are allready present in the paint job thus continuing the theme but adding interest with detail. The black is not a bad idea but you would end up with a half black half orane figure and no spot colour to frame the mini. Well I hope all this is of some use to peeps if anyone wants more pics just say ;). + BURN THE INFIDEL WITH THE FIRE OF HELIOS AND THE WRATH OF ISIS + . . ++ OFF LINE ++
  6. Cheeers guys glad you like them, I am working on adding a Captain and a full 10 man assult squad with jump packs as soon as I get a break from commission stuff. Thanks Winterdyne good to see you here too, it was partly seeing your work that convinced me to go for painting an army to this standard so thank you for the inspiration :D
  7. Yeah I screwd up on the weapon loadout for Sgt Tethis (1st squad) as I hadn't read the Codex so I may swap the sword arm off on to my next tactical squad sgt ;). This is my second real atempt at painting marines after about 20 years away from the hobby, my first choice had been dark angels but boy are they dark! So I decided to work on the opposite side of the colour wheel.... I generaly call them Tango marines . All of the chapter symbols and squad markings are freehand as it means that I can have whatever I want on my troops. Here are some more pics to show in closer detail my work so far. The weathering has only been done to the Razor back as it is constantly trundeling around in muck where as the marines have just been deployed I will at som point add some weathering to the marines but I will not go over the top with it after all look after your armour and your armour will look after you! Thank you for the comment Janitor101 It made sense to use the name Isis as she was an Egyptian Godess of life/rebirth and her symbol is that of the Benu bird the mythical Phoenix is my Chapter symbol. Also Astarte is a female godess of war so why not stick with the trend :P
  8. Hey there folks, new boy here so time to break the ice and post some pictures. My very own Chapter Brothers of Isis I'm not sure if I have done this right as I'm not so good with computers.
