  1. I'll PM you with my skype name this evening once I remember the password for it aha - good luck with the game, I've not managed one yet so would certainly be interested to hear about it.
  2. The -1 S to enemy shooting makes them incredibly resilient (I was facing off against a Nurgle Daemons led chaos army), admittedly the only major shooting was from a soulgrinder, unclean one and plasma level stuff but never had problems - it ended as a draw but it was on T6 and I'd lost perhaps 8-10 guys out of the two 10 man squads. I admit my list is not optimised (I've always wanted to do a heavy infantry army and love IHs so linked the two - hence why my 3k list includes Ferrus and a few heavy weapons guys) but it deffo scares people seeing a 1.5k list with 21 Terminators, 2 Contemptors, 5 HS MLs and a MoS - all taking that -1S very happily indeed haha
  3. Ah man... There goes a small part of my monster plan - admittedly I rarely use a command squad (tend to go for 10 Man Cataphractii squads) but it was a nice boost to make our termies on par with the likes of Firedrakes and IFs. As for what to kit them out with mine are as follows: (Squad 1 - Anti-Character/TDA) 10 Men, 2 Plasma Blasters, 1 CF, 2 PFs, 4 Combi-Weaps, 1 Volkite and the rest are combi-bolters/power weapons. (Squad 2 - Anti-Horde/CC) 1 LC, 2 twin LCs, 1 HF, 1 Reaper, 1 CF, 2 PFs, 1 TH, 2 Volkites, 3 Combi-Weaps and again the rest are combi-bolters/power weapons. Hope that helps.
  4. You essentially described a fire raptor. Its a storm eagle with no carrying capacity because its full of guns. Although, giving the fire raptor a big brother would be crazy cool Without me stealing IHFs thread of wonderfulness - that was my intention, a beefed up big brother for the Fire Raptor :D
  5. oooh speaking of C130s - possibility of creating a legion variant of the C130 Spooky? High altitude, no carrying capacity except crew but monstrous firepower - so I'd say the equivalent of 30mm Gatling, 40mm BOFORS and 105mm would probably be the proto-assault cannons useable by support squads (for the 30mm), twin linked autocannons (the BOFORS) and one battle cannon or similar heavy weapon (the 105mm) - I'd figure it to be the heavy support Air Support variant of a THawk (hence no carrying capacity).
  6. I'd also be inclined to sign up - have the core book plus a couple of the expansions so can do that side, have a skype acct. I'm on GMT (what with living in London, UK and all...) :) as for character/s anything either Iron Hands based (techmarine/devastator) or Space Wolves based (assault marine/tactical) is good for me. Would realistically be getting online from 7pm to 10pm GMT.
  7. My armoured element (when I get around to it) will consist of 9 Contemptors (currently I have 3), 6 Spartans and perhaps 3-9 predators. It does indeed work for us (especially with the blessed autosimulacra).
  8. iirc it's specified that you can never ally with your own primary detachment of the same legion - so no sallies primary w/sallies allied ibc destroyers job - you could take another legion or even a non-legion specific force and then have Sallie allies though.
  9. Does this mean you own a StuG IV? :p I want... and a twin-barrelled heavy reaper Autocannon sounds beautiful, especially if put on the StuG chassis - now I want a 30k era Konigstiger or Jagdtiger...
  10. I'm loving the ideas for the mastiff - having the weapons overheat due to them smashing the pedal to the floor and expending a :cuss ton of shells makes sense and works as a big drawback :) - I can just imagine the heavy thunk (watch a vid of a .50cal firing - it's beautiful) of the shell release coinciding with the light chiming jingle of rounds hitting war plate...
  11. I like that idea - a nice heavy mantlet (c'mon you'd need something capable of stopping a chainfist) so perhaps a 3++ BUT it denies the 2d6 armour pen from chainfists? Alongside this obviously (as per earlier mention) allow the option to swap out the servo-bolter for a heavy flamer (I think an Irad cleanser is too advanced for these ponies) and swap the bokter for the shield/mantlet an' you have yourself a monstrous breacher unit.
  12. I'd go for the Falx Rocket Launcher due to the similarities between this and the rocket-mortar munitions used on the Brumbar and Sturmtiger - these heavy-weight tanks (especially the Sturmtiger which had the same chassis as the Tiger I & II (Konigstiger)) used rocket propelled mortar shells (in the case of the Sturmtiger it was a 380mm monster) to flatten enemy buildings and heavy concentrations of tanks/infantry.
  13. What has amused me most about this is that the newest heavy transport vehicles in use of the British Army are called Mastiffs haha - however reading your fluff creation heathens - I would rather have 2 of those than 6 of the real ones xD Rather excited to see this and the various stats... Then to convince Epistolary Alan Bligh that it's a great idea and to add it to the Conquest book.
