  1. LOL, you've got to be kidding; we have had the exact same idea, about the claw - I just made mine almost exactly like yours, last night, (although with a drill instead of a saw) and I've just seen yours today - that's just weird. :D Great work - he's really starting to take shape. :) There's something about the place the cable are attached to the skull that's bothering me, though - it sort of messes with the silhouette of the skull. Perhaps try them a bit lower?
  2. To be honest, no - I have some ideas, and it will probably be 5th company, seeing as I do love me some Daemon Engines, but I think it will be a Vectorium of my own, and ditto for the warband leader (Pandemion). Something big is approaching... Inspired by the ever inspiring Biohazard (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-world-eaters-warband/) I saw a Redemptor Dreadnought conversion, and I saw that it was good. Actually I started out really not liking the model when I first saw it, but after seeing Biohazards version, I got so inspired that I had to do one myself for my DG. Here is the humble beginnings of my Leviathan Dreadnought. It's obviously very WIP, and it's only mockup stage (I'm not sure about the sarcophagus or front armour - the shoulder pads obviously need some work as well), but the basics are starting to form - I knew it needed to have the front armour rounded, as well as the shin armour, to match my existing Daemon engines - it would look out of place to suddenly have a lot of square edges. I'm also pondering how to do a Grav Flux Bombard - any ideas? It's only really when you see it in real life, that you appreciate how big this fella is - but I've included a scale shot, so you can get an idea:
  3. Indeed it is - they're all either plasma pistols or plasma guns. Very easy conversion.
  4. Damn you. I'm getting a Redemptor tomorrow. I can't stop thinking about the possibilities with it now, and seeing one of my buddies model today sealed the deal. I blame it all on you and your cool conversion. ;) Now, I'm gonna run it as a Leviathan - but decisions decisions - what load out? I can imagine you're running it with a butcher array and a claw?
  5. Another option, albeit a bit orcish (but some of the best chaos bits are!) is the battlewagon big grabber: https://fox-box.co.uk/product/ork-battlewagon-big-grabber/ Or perhaps you should go to town on some plastic card/sprues yourself? It wouldn't be too difficult to carve something similar to the mechanicus crane.
  6. Great - I have a feeling that you'll have to buy the kit though - I can't imagine many people selling those as bits.
  7. You're welcome - though you do know, that a Nurgle version of your Leviathan is already forming in my head now, right? (Damnit!)
  8. That's... That's just humongous, man... I'm speechless at how tiny he makes a terminator look. (Cogs in my head starts spinning at the possibilities... Damn you! :D ) It's difficult finding anything in that size, but the new mechanicum sector vehicles have a grabber, that I think would be the just right size - and barely needs any work to make it a power claw:
  9. Any chance you could post a size comparison pic with a marine? It could help me find the right size for bits. :)
  10. Wow, theres some seriously cool stuff here -I'll definitely gather some inspiration from your plague marines, and the terminator lord, sorcerer and the wormtongue guy are just inspired! Where are the "worms" from?
  11. Thank you for that wonderful compliment. Don't get discouraged by my bitching over it; to be completely honest - it's difficult, but nowhere near impossible. It reminds me a little of converting old metal miniatures, I've just gotten used to multipart miniatures being much easier to work with. These, being monopose, require some more work. A few tips; do NOT glue on the torsos before deciding and putting in the head you want - they are next to impossible to place in the head socket when the torso is on. Most of the arms/shoulderpads needs to be removed from the Death Shroud - and you sort of NEED the Blight Lord arms to make this work, since regular Terminator arms are too small, and the shoulders don't fit. Most importantly, let the miniature dictate where the conversion is heading - there are som things that just can't be done with these without intensive sculpting work, and if you follow the flow of the miniature, you'll get there much easier. While difficult to do, they were very enjoyable, and I love the finished product - I hope you'll give it a go, and post them. :-)
  12. I'm humbled. :) You won't have to wait long, though. ;) Just completed the second batch of Death Shroud based Blight Lords:
  13. Thanks guys! I received my second box of Death Shroud today, and promptly tore into the sprues, snickering manically and swinging my scalpel, saw and cutters... Well, not exactly, but I was very excited, since I had some cool ideas for them. This next batch almost put even more of a fight than the first batch - as I told you in the previous post, they are NOT easy to convert - everything fits together in one way and ONE WAY only; which is great if you're a beginning model builder, and you don't want to make mistakes. Lord knows I've assembled many kits the wrong way, only to find out the plastic glue is dried solid and there's no way to pull it apart without destroying everything. Anyway, this quality is not so much of a quality, when a madman such a myself wants to do unspeakable things to said kit - so I used a lot of cutting, measuring, cutting again, a bit of greenstuff and some weird parts to make it work - but in the end it is so satisfying to "beat" a conversion - to pull off something that looks almost hopeless. I'm really satisfied with the unit, and they look and feel soooo much better to me than the regular kits. Granted, it is a really expensive unit to build - but hey, this is the guy that once bought 8 (!) Chaos Lord in terminator armour kits, to build a Berzerker terminator squad with lightning claws. In the end, I'm a one-army-guy. I don't play much, modelling and painting is my main hobby, and I want this to be the best army I've ever done, with all of the models looking awesome - so it was worth it. Also a shot of the new Plague Marine unit I've assembled - only very small conversions, but I wanted to show off how great a kit it is:
  14. Wow, you're on fire tonight! Great progress on the dread - I agree about the eyes, they need some kind of optics, but how about taking a cue from the artwork and just roll up some tiny balls of greenstuff, place them in the sockets, and paint them up with a glow effect? Are the trims from Subtle Discords trim kits? As for the claw - does it need to look like the artwork or just a cool claw? I remember that pic from the 2nd ed. Chaos Codex - and it's still awesome. I can help you with the artists name - it's the awesome Des Hanley, who has done A LOT of artwork for GW - look him up - he has done some amazing stuff. Always loved him and Mark Gibbons chaos stuff. If you don't have it, try to source the 2nd ed Chaos Codex - it should be pretty cheap on ebay, and there's some great artwork in there.
