Yup; Imperial Knights, as found in the Blue Catalogue of days gone by. You have there a picture of several Warden Knights, the largest and most powerful of Knight classes, usually reserved for the ehads of households, princes etc. Cool stuff. :D I think that the Knights of Taranis, as depicted in Mechanicus, are more like the traditional Knights, as found in the original boxed sets, such as the middle Paladin on the linked page. Think of Knights more as Battlemechs, both in size and capabilities.

Amen to that!! There can never be too many orange marines after all... :lol: Great looking marines there MRCHAOS; keep it up :D I especially like your warsmith conversion; I might nick that idea. The weathering is really nice too, something I still need to add to my guys. If you are open to ideas, might I suggest repainting the red with, say, blue or black? or even green? Those colours would better complement the orange and would really make your guys stand out. Or ignore my suggestions and go on this way; they're your minis ;)

I've painted my IF over a basecoat of spraypaint nearing Vomit Brown in tone. This was an excellent base for several coats of Golden yellow (indeed; very much thinned each time :P ). Enough to get an even coverage. I then highlighted through Sunburst- and Bad Moon Yellow up to (Skull) White for the very highest highlights, with a thinned down wash of Snakebite Leather for the deepest recesses/shading. I did do it the hard way before; painting over black, and although the coverage eventually became the same, it took about 10 layers more than going with the Vomit Brown spraypaint. So; less paint and time, same result? Easy choice. :) As an aside, I now undercoat my Fiery Lions with an orange spraypaint, which also cuts down quite a bit on layering and most important; time. Just common sense when you think about it really... ;)

Excellent work allround there. :devil: Very nice, and as was mentioned, regal, look to them; very coherent and stunning force. Care to elaborate on your gold recipy? I especially love the black scrollwork all over their armour; I might have to nick the idea. The helmets look great too. :wub: And you know I just have to ask; what's wrong with orange and flames for a paintscheme really? :o

Their outlook on life (being dead already when inducted in the chapter) is very much like that of Samurai; they too see themselves as dead already, so they have no need to fear it and can concentrate on their duties. I thought the story of the apothecary going chaos was an awesome read, even though it didn't reveal too much about the Doom Eagles as a chapter. The whole setting of the Biologus Adept seeking out the sole survivor of that engagement in an isolated sanatorium is awesomely evocative...

Actually, there's another version, sitting somewhere inbetween that Bullock Jet Cycle and the thingy Sabretooth thought up <_< . Better looking than both, I might add. IMHO that is... I converted one to start off my Ravenwing squadrons. Me forts! Everybody's after me lucky forts...

IF or UM, no question. I'd prefer UM because it's more 'realistic' since more than half the present chapters are of UM stock. However, considering the Castellans' predeliction towards forts etc, combined with their stern but noble nature, I'd prefer IF. Choices choices... As for the founding; unknown would be preferable, but definitaly before the Age of Apostacy, to make it possible for them to have a longstanding relationship with the Echlesiarchy and give them a nice background story to explain the connection. I would suggest however that they were quite young at the time of the actual Apostacy; being a young chapter would have made them more susceptible to the influence of the Echlesiarchy. Through the IF they could have felt a close tie with Terra, which held the high seat at the time...

Allright; so far so good. But before the old Elitist argument flared up I wrote a massive post, elaborating on my view of the way-forts. Any feedback on that?
